I purchased tickets ahead of time. Your tickets are for specific times. This means the zoo is much less crowded. And you have to wear masks the majority of time you're on the grounds. Was still a very enjoyable experience during the pandemic.

Great zoo, but I would've liked some more little creatures. Pika's, prairie dogs, squirrels and marmosets wild be a great edition to the Cascade area. I know big animals attract the crowds, but that's also because people don't often enough see the small animals to fall in love with them.
It was a lot of fun to see some of the animals we didn't spot in the wild. Like the bear and cougar.

Lots of exhibits were shut down and under construction, parking was incredibly difficult, and there was no info online that many of the exhibits were shut down. Not worth our time and money. Also, we found it strange there are no notable or noticeable conservation efforts that this zoo makes... If there is we couldn't find any material on it while in the park.

Whether it s an outing with friends visiting from out of town or a seasonal experience like the Zoo Concert Series or Zoo Lights - or evening better, Brew Lights! - the zoo never lets me down. Nestled in Oregon s natural beauty with enclosures that make you feel less bad about the negative arguments one hears about zoos, this place always makes me feel connected to the larger world outside of my hometown.
And their social media is right on, too!

My favorite thing about this place is how natural the animals look in their habitats. I can't wait for the construction to be finished. Also if you haven't scheduled to go to a elephant show it was one of the highlights of my life!! I loved it and so did my kids

Best zoo ever. Cant wait for them to add more animals soon. I came from Southern California and our zoos need to get better. We have more animals probably but the way the Oregon Zoo sets up the habitats for the animals is nice and it's not as crowded.

This zoo is incredible, I went to see a concert and it felt more like a festival, the amphitheater is under the stars and there were food trucks and all kinds of things going on. I can only imagine the zoo during the day. It is very well maintained and a great place to check out when in portland.

Been going since I was a kid I love the updated elephant home. I am a bit sad that there is still so much updating going on. I do feel they need to speed up the updated process cause eventually people will stop going do to it.

There was barely a handful of exhibits to show everything was closed off the animals that were supposed to be there weren't , the food stand didn't even k ow what beers they had or if they had any , pretzel was good so expensive for nothing to really see but trees ! And a couple animals, and u pay extra for a 2 min train ride ! Other then that we enjoyed the sand box and the walk and the few animals we did see

We had so much fun here.I especially like the quiet zones and the headphone areas for kids with special needs. We really enjoyed the giant sand box and the train as well as the animals. The glitter tattos were a good bonus too. This zoo was clean and fun.I would definitely go back.I would also recommend this place to everyone.

This zoo fully exceeded my expectations. Cheap cover charge ($10 off-season), great array of animals, and the design in general is phenomenal! Terrific spacing of exhibits, the animals are encouraged to sleep right up against the glass! I crouched down a foot away from a resting cheetah. Every kid I saw was having a great time too, great family spot. I have no idea how the average visit time is 45 minutes, I easily spent 3 hours here.

was here for a Jason Isbell concert and it did not disappoint! The elephants looked like they were dancing along and the food was affordable and filling! Would totally do this again! The only downside was it started to drizzle and get cold and we could not go back to get jackets from our vehicle.

I've been going here my whole life and it's great! They take care of their animals and by going and buying tickets, foods, drinks, etc., you help take care of the animals, too. They truly do everything they can to care for their animals and take in animals who can't be in the wild for whatever reason and give them a safe home. You may not always see your favorite animal, but it's only because they're giving them the freedom of privacy. 10/10 recommend the Oregon Zoo (and they have the best elephant ears!)

Had a trip for my family, courtesy of the Foresters. Have not been to the Zoo is a few years. Had a wonderful time and the new elephant exhibit was great they have much more room. Like the layout and the bird demonstration on the lawn. Sorry we missed the lion talk at 11am, You do need to get their early on weekends when it fills they close the entry to people when they meet the capacity. Even if someone leaves they do not let anyone else in.
