We always have a nice time here. As my child grows, she finds different things that interest her! Something here for all ages. Tho miss the huge primate section, this has been a place of happy memories.

Very dissatisfied with the $4.00 per person train ride. I bought 9 tickets for us all to go on it. It was a very short ride and you hardly got to see any of the zoo. Very expensive after paying $165.00 to get into the zoo for the day.

I took Trimet in to avoid the crowded parking. Food seems expensive at ~$10 for burger and fries but the fries were good. Burger wasn't as good. Packing in food is an option.

Most of the cool animals rest and hide during the day. Lions, tigers, bears, red pandas, etc. I normally treat a visit to the zoo as a nature walk that happens to have some animals around because I don't expect to see most animals.

The Wildlife Safari in southern Oregon is a better way to see more animals, but it is also much more expensive and far away.

Visiting my grandchildren in Oregon. Went to the zoo, it so nice. Saw the elephant swimming and going under the water. Tigers having lunch, a bit taken back seeing rabbits being their lunch. This zoo is a great place to visit from young to mature people like me.

Some exhibits closed and the main train loop is still under construction. Crowded midday and you will be appalled at other guests behaviors. The zoo turnes inward. Friendly and approachable staff make up for this and if you take the extra time, you and the kiddos can really learn a lot.

Teenagers that work there are friendly and nice. Rest of the place is subpar. Also, it's a bummer to see bald eagles in a small environment... they need to soar free!!! Besides the fish and reptiles, most animals here looked very depressed. Hard not to empathize with the poor lil creatures...

We love the Oregon Zoo! This is a great place with world class animal care and facilities! It's really obvious the animals are content and well cared for here. The layout is great and you can get nice and close to almost all the animals. I look forward to the pretty extensive renovations being finished, although there is plenty to see now. Love the Pacific Northwest section and of course the otters!

It was a fun day, good weather. There are two concerns though. The elephants were banging their heads on the gate to open in the pool area so they could play in the field. There are too many lions in a very small area for them, they should have a much bigger area to roam.

It was smokey due to the surrounding fires. Also covid 19 restrictions were in place by we were still able to enjoy a lot of the zoo. There are areas under construction and new exhibits being built so lots to see the next time we're here!

The Oregon Zoo is beautiful and laid out wonderfully. They have great treatment of their animals and are constantly striving for improvement. This is a favorite place to visit for my family and we frequently buy a membership.

We did a sloth encounter with #OZJosie and the porcupine encounter with Bebeto. It is a wonderful way to get close and learn more about the animals. I highly recommend going if you get the chance.

Was my first time to visit there. I was very excited to go with our grandsons, a 3 & 4 year old . It is huge spread out , lots of walking , it was pricey for what you get to see and do. It is a beautiful scenic Zoo but lots of the animals were not in their living spaces or not there at all. My grandsons were pretty upset they didnt see hippos, monkeys, Gorilla, rhinos and more. We live in Dallas / FTW area and were visiting family in Portland.

The dedication of the zoo staff and animal handlers are second to none. Marvelous facility for both people and animals. We've been members for 6 years but have been coming for 20.

Promblem: absolute robbery when a 20 oz Pepsi is $3.50. Its less money to by a case in stores. Ar $2.50 you'd sell more and make more.

Shame on the powers to be at the zoo to not consider people that may not be able to afford a cool drink for themselves or their families.

"Ket them eat cake" syndrome

Amazing zoo. We loved all the exhibit and how well they were worked into the natural surroundings. There are a ton of food carts all around the zoo so there is a choice for whatever someone in your group may want.

Even as an adult, I love going to this zoo! Their environmental awareness is great and the educational information is on point. If you plan on buying anything, food wise, be aware that it will be priced higher than outside the zoo, but the food is actually good, (it's fast food style, don't expect a 5 star restaurant).
If you have kids and live in the area, their member passes are VERY worth it.
Going when it's a little cooler and overcast means less crowds and more active animals.
Zoo lights during the winter/holiday season is good for kids or a date night. Be aware that it gets crowded and the lines can be long at this time.
I have a close friend that volunteered here a few years ago and they said it was their favorite volunteer experience.
All in all, this is a really great place to go for people of all ages!

The Oregon Zoo is a great place to visit! It has animals and more animals. It has an insect habitat that my grandsons loved! And a bat exhibit that my daughter loved.
You can buy your lunch there or bring it with you and sit near the beautiful amphitheater on the grassy lawn. Where they have presentations about the animals in the zoo.
You can rent a stroller single or double as well as a wheel chair.
My only caution would be too call and check to see if all or most of the exhibits are open, because when we went a lot of them were not open.

LOVE the zoo! Always such an amazing, fun time when I go. This visit I brought my son for the very first time and it was the absolute best! So many different animals and all of their exhibits are so spacious and accommodate their animals perfectly. Will go back over and over again!!

Its pretty busy with all the new construction going on but it's still awesome. Kids were even excited about watching the big excavators moving earth around. Can't wait for all the new habitats to be done.

I hadn't been to zoolights in over 20 years. It was just as good as I remembered. Some of the older lights were out but there were some new things that were pretty spectacular. Definitely get all of your tickets online so you don't have to wait. There were a lot of food trucks and drink stands open which was great. My only complaint was even though we got tickets ahead of time and picked a time for the train, we still waited in line a long time and the times don't really seem to mean anything. Also, no belts on carousel and it moves pretty fast.

nice little zoo. Very natural walk through the various continents.. Love the bald eagles and condos. Elephant and giraffes are the top attractions and very spacious.. Very kid friendly zoo and in an amazing location.. Would, like it to expand further and glad to see that they are opening a primate forest

First off, we went on a Friday morning. There was no parking; we circled for a while before finding one recently vacated spot in the lot next to the exit.

The zoo was absolutely packed with multiple schools or daycare centers farming out their kids here for the day. It was not particularly good weather either, overcast and 60 degrees. The kids were running everywhere, completely out of control, yelling, hitting each other, throwing things, blocking walkways, etc. I'll have to call ahead in the future to see when it's open to the general public, not daycare centers.

My kids would have liked to have seen animals too, but they weren't rude enough to push their way to the front of every display and stand there facing away from the display blocking it while fighting with other children.

The displays were hit and miss. About 1/3 of them were empty, not counting the ones under construction. There is obviously extensive renovation underway. I would suggest making some of the walkways wider. It only took one woman with a massive side by side stroller to completely block 25 people from being able to pass through.

It was fairly clean. The food wasn't that unreasonably priced. The staff seemed nice enough.

It was unimpressive overall though. Basically every other zoo I've been to was better.

Much more organized than previous years. We purchased train tickets with a specific time, ate elephant and elf ears, saw the baby elephants, baby turtles all with our fun light up, spinning and bubble Zoo toys. It was a lot of fun!

I love coming here even as an adult. They have began to update all the exhibits that were starting to age. The new elephant exhibit is very nice as is the Africa area of the zoo. The new primate and polar bear exhibits will be excellent as well. The Oregon Zoo seems interested in sustaining the environment as well. They are part of the effort to help save the California Condor and are an active part of their breeding and re-introduction program. The zoo appears more interested in helping animals than they do in profits which I like a lot.

Worth going just for the walk and the vegetation. The animals are great too. Parking is a bear though. Take public transit or plan on searching for a parking spot. There's always something going on at the zoo.
