Not much I can really say in a short space. This is there most genuinely interactive zoo I've ever visited. There is a lot of improvements in progress so we are looking forward to the completion of these projects next year!

Don't forget to visit the Lamprey exhibit! We were so lucky to be there for the first release of Lamprey into this new exhibit. Hearing the Nez Perce Elder speak and gracefully share a song with is all was beyond special and brought tears. My point? Visiting zoos can be more than walking around hoping to see a few lethargic animals in captivity. Done correctly and with genuine love and care for the animals provides both a learning and awareness opportunity for humans but also an enriching and protective environment for the animals. And it can lead to protection and even recovery (Lamprey!) of some species.

Great job Portland and the regional council and all the staff, volunteers and donors who contribute so much.
