Fantastic location friendly staff with good clean rooms. Food and service was great I'd definitely stay here again ..the shower is so powerful it's awesome. Don't let minor comments deter you I'd recommend it. Very reasonably priced too.

The receptionist was great did her job very well indeed, the hotel room was clean and no problems there, we booked an evening meal, my wife got the wrong meal and mine 'chicken' was stone cold in the middle, this was taken away and reheated rather than replaced, in the end I had a burger, as little to go wrong there, in the end our meal was given free of charge. This is quite an expensive hotel, I'm guessing it as it doesn't have much competition and can sell the rooms at higher than expected prices. They need more staff.
Friendly staff, clean room though a bit dated. Varied choice for breakfast though hot food had been lying out so only luke warm. Evening meal was excellent especially the fish and chips. Lovely views across the loch.
Nice location, good breakfast. Very good evening meals and friendly staff unfortunately the hotel is a bit tired room we had was peeling wallpaper but it was still clean and warm plus it was cheap which helped
They are kicking the staff out on Christmas Day during a pandemic with no money, no homes, all while stealing their tips and expecting them to work the rest of the week. Atrocious behavior! They don t need your patronage since they clearly don t care about people.
Staff were very friendly and the Pod stay was great, looking at the loch in the morning and stars at night. The hotel rooms could do with some upgrading - we had a dog so maybe not staying in the best room.. it is a hill walking hotel, it is clean and functional.
The reason it was poor, is because our room was a very low standard, it certainly didn't look like the photos on the Onich website. We didn't actually stay the room was that poor, the carpet was was all frayed and the shower room was very smelly of damp and not fit for purpose, photos to follow.
Stopped in for a quick meal on the long road from Uig to Glasgow. Food and service were both good and we got on our way full-up and quick enough to keep decent time but not get indigestion!
A bit old hotel needing a bit of redecorating. I stayed in a single room though so did not expect much comfort. Location is quite good. Just few miles from fort William and the price is lower than in the town
We travel quite a bit as a family and this has to be the worst accommodation experience we have had. The room has not been cleaned properly, the bedside tables were still dirty . The mattress was virtually non existent. Carpet was nearly threadbare and fraying . The bathroom cabinetry was all chipped and starting to come off . Half of the electricals were out of date (last tested in 2013) . The photos on their website is false marketing. Dinner was a similar experience . The table had not cleaned and throughout dinner we didn t see anyone cleaning any of the surfaces . Especially due to Covid environment, we felt this hotel was not hygienic , so much so that we had to leave after one night (we had originally booked to stay for 3 ) . The owner/manager himself wasn t demonstrating Covid responsible practices - not once was he wearing a mask when interacting with customers .
Fantastic views and location but thats where it ends. V poor food, cold breakfast. Whole hotel needs an overhaul as tired, grubby and in places electricals are dangerous using black tape to hold it together. Wouldnt stay here again sadly!
It's not the most modern looking of venues, you may enter and feel it's a throw back from yester year however, the food is fantastic. They offer a limited option but certainly not basic. Between us we ordered a few different meals and I managed to try them all, I would have eaten them all.
I don't know where you would find a restaurant with a better view.
Just returned from a couple of nights at this Hotel. Our room was clean but there was a stuffy smell in the halls and downstairs. Breakfast was good. Staff were polite and friendly The hotel is in a stunning position next to the loch. With fantastic views However Decor is shabby and in urgent need of updating. Carpets worn, Chairs were marked We went outside down to loch to take photographs at the bottom of garden and there were a couple of old fridges littering the shore!. So sad that the hotel has been lovely in the past and is now so clearly neglected! I would not go back as is.
View is sensational. However the place is a little run down but I see that the owner recently wrote that they will be doing renovations which I would highly reccomend as with these amazing views all this place needs is some TLC. Staff were friendly however it took a while for the phone to be answered when called. Wifi never worked on our iPad, staff seem to work really hard but lack of staff is noticed but understandable due to Covid. We weren't asked how our stay was or if we were satisfied which is usually good to ask the guests for some feedback. Rooms were outdated and needed some fresh lampshades and finishing touches. Bed was comfy and bedding etc was fresh. I wouldnt return until renovations were done but overall great staff, okay food and great views.
The hotel has seen better moments but is still an ok place with affordable rooms. The restaurant for dinners isngreat with a big variety of traditional scotish food. Friendly staff
The hotel was cold as was the room. The room was a bit shabby and lacking any comfort. The staff were ok and pleasant. The fish at dinner was soggy and not enjoyable. Overall, a disappointment.
The Onich Hotel has a wonderful position on the bank of Loch Linnhe and many rooms (but by no means all) have a view over the loch. On-site parking is free, the towels are white and fluffy and some of the staff are committed and work hard to please guests.
Having said that, there is little else to praise. The whole building is of an indifferent standard, and has not been refurbished or decorated for far too long. The signage on the wall outside reads "Onich H tel Lochsid Gardens", the "o" and "e" having presumably fallen off. The resemblance to Fawlty Towers doesn't end there. Peeling wallpaper, threadbare and fraying carpets and worn, chipped and faded paintwork are everywhere. We paid extra to upgrade to a loch view so the first room we were allocated had a view of the loch. It was on the second floor, and there was no lift, so we heaved everything up the stairs. When we looked for some sockets to charge our phones, we could find only one, on the wall opposite the bed.
The TV was tiny. The basin taps delivered only a dribble of water and the shaver socket was too high to plug in our electric toothbrush charger and still rest it on a surface. The room also had all the smells of the kitchen, especially of frying which turned my wife's stomach so the staff offered us a different room, to which we moved all our stuff. The very limited breakfast menu was further restricted because neither the Fruits of the forest, the Fruit salad nor the Dried fruit was available "due to a refrigerator failure". The coffee was not very hot, and by the time the hot milk we requested had arrived, the coffee itself was even cooler. After waiting about half an hour for it, my cooked breakfast arrived only faintly warm.
In the new room, the WiFi wasn't working. We could connect to the WiFi network but it didn't deliver an internet connection. If we needed the internet, we had to visit the bar. Then we realised that in the new room we could not close the curtains. They were hanging onto the plastic rail by a fraction of the original hooks, and the rail had come away from the ceiling. The main light in the bathroom did not work and the bed mattress was very uncomfortable. We were offered a different room, and we moved all our stuff again.
This third room came with operational curtains. It was bigger and had a similar tiny TV even further away from the bed, and the WiFi still didn't work. The bed was even more worn out than the first one with springs that could be felt through the mattress, and the light switches were hidden behind the headboard. There was a socket outlet hidden there, too, right in the middle of the bed, so we slept with our phones charging between us. The basin taps were more dribblers and there was no shaver socket. The electrical connection to the heated towel rail was bound up with tape, and a separate wire, coloured as earth, emerged from the tape and into the wall, heading for who-knows-where. For our second breakfast, the fruit options still weren't available, but this time the refrigerator wasn't mentioned; they just hadn't got any.
Although the Reception staff did offer us the option of moving from one very poor room to another and assured us that the hotel was under new ownership and due to be completely refurbished very soon, we could in no way recommend this hotel. The view was lovely but the accommodation substandard. A blot on our stay in Onich.
This is a hotel with a good location, nothing more. A quite worndown hotel. We had a room with "loch view ". But instead we had a huge tree infront of our window. We saw 1/3 of the loch. And the carpet was loose beside our bed. Mildew on our shower, looked yes nasty. We were there on our honeymoon, which we wrote when we booked it. But didn't get anything extra.. Not even a free beer :( But the staff was friendly and the bar aswell as the food was OK.
Rooms need an upgrade, service from younger members of staff very good and food was lovely, although the breakfast service on our first day left a lot to be desired from the older gentlemen beautiful views from rooms.
Good food, but sadly was let down a bit by the service. Only 2 staff meant long waits at the bar or for table service. Had to ask for tables to be cleaned despite covid precautions etc.
Beautiful scenery. Staff amazing. We stayed in one of the pods it was so peaceful. We took our dog and he was spoilt rotten by the staff. He loved lying by the fire when we popped in for a drink (red wine was delish). Lovely buffet breakfast. We will definitely be back
This place isn't good the beds are not comfortable at all it is like sleeping on rocks. then there was dust in the air filter in the bathroom as medical conditions I didn't like this so I said something and nothing was done. The food well I would say was very bad the vegetables were blanched and very hard the staff aren't very pleasant. I wouldn't even think of going back hear. You aren't allowed to move around the dining room if you are staying there for a week well I thought this is ridiculous, I wouldn't even give them any stars.
Room was fine, normal for uk. Location is lovely, most suitable if you have a car or like me just need somewhere to sleep a night between busses. The bus to and from Glasgow go by a few minutes walk from the hotel. Food I was not as pleased with, but not bad
Oh dear! I unexpectedly stopped off here for one night's dinner B & B. The decor is shabby and tired and in great need of redecoration and refurbishment. The shower head over the bath was broken and taped up in a fixed position that would have suited a person who was only 5 ft tall, but I could not get underneath it and so had to remove it to hand-shower myself. The TV remote control would not switch the TV on and off so had to switch it on at the TV. The rest of the controls on the RC control worked fine. Then dinner! Well I am a vegetarian and the only main course vegetarian dish on the menu was Macaroni Cheese. This may be an acceptable menu item if it is one of a choice of three vegetarian options, but these days this is not an acceptable paid for, dining out, evening restaurant experience. There are so many more interesting and wholesome vegetarian meal options out there, and it feels a real let down to be faced with no choice. A vegetarian could not possibly spend more than one night here. The bed was comfy and I slept well. The next ordeal was breakfast! Due to Covid-19, breakfast was not a buffet, but table service cooked to order. There is therefore no excuse for my mushrooms, beans, potato cakes and fried egg being served almost cold. When I complained, my breakfast was replaced.......with another one that was equally luke-warm and unpalatable. I chose not to eat it. At no point, either with my evening meal or with my breakfast, was I asked how my food was. It was as though the staff really weren't interested. Similarly, when I checked out and paid my bill, I was not asked how my stay was, or if everything was all right for me. If they had, I would have told them of my dissatisfaction. As it was, I wasn't convinced that they wanted to know or had the desire to improve their customer experience. I shan't be returning.
Great views and lovely food. 10oz rib eye highly recommended. The waiter was very friendly and very nice. Plenty on your plate so not going away hungry.
When we came there and the first thing we heard was that there is a power outage. The price per night is eye watering for how the rooms look. The furniture including the bathroom and bedroom look like back from the 80's. When changing the mode on the shower head you accidentally take apart the whole shower head and the water isn't hot. So when coming back to the hotel after a rainy and cold day, its Scotland after all, you won't have fun with the shower. The water out of the basin in the bathroom comes out in a painful what field like 3 drops per minute. In the bedroom there are cracks in the wall and the beds squeak. Not even talking about the window. When first trying to open the window in my room the curtain rail was blocking it from opening further that 12 inch. Not even enough to fit your head through the gap thanks to the wall next to it. The TV is about 25 inch in diameter. From the bed which is about 157 inch away from the TV it looks like a ridiculously small postmark. The breakfast is ok but nothing even close to what you would expect from such a painful price. All in all you might think that the hotel is really good from the pictures found on the website. But it's just painful what you really get. Everyone has to make up his mind of what you think about it but it's definitely not what I expected.
Very expensive. The hotel smells terrible. It smells like you're going into a freiduria. And the state of it is regrettable. Not at all like the photos that are published on different websites of the site. For sleeping here I would not pay more than 25 pounds in any case.
We stayed there for 2 nights last July and we appreciated very much the service and customer orientation of the personnel. Nicely location at Loch Linnhe, where you can have lovely walks including beautiful panoramic views, waterfall,...
Spent a week in this hostel ! Very nice and cozy :) Rooms very hot , loved the carpets ! We were climbing around the ben Nevis with a local tour operator. Nice people in a quiet area. Restaurant is great with good menus, the bar offers a wide veriety of beers ! Awesome for after climbing !
Best place to go if your are looking for that connection with the locals :)
