Oh dear! I unexpectedly stopped off here for one night's dinner B & B. The decor is shabby and tired and in great need of redecoration and refurbishment. The shower head over the bath was broken and taped up in a fixed position that would have suited a person who was only 5 ft tall, but I could not get underneath it and so had to remove it to hand-shower myself. The TV remote control would not switch the TV on and off so had to switch it on at the TV. The rest of the controls on the RC control worked fine. Then dinner! Well I am a vegetarian and the only main course vegetarian dish on the menu was Macaroni Cheese. This may be an acceptable menu item if it is one of a choice of three vegetarian options, but these days this is not an acceptable paid for, dining out, evening restaurant experience. There are so many more interesting and wholesome vegetarian meal options out there, and it feels a real let down to be faced with no choice. A vegetarian could not possibly spend more than one night here. The bed was comfy and I slept well. The next ordeal was breakfast! Due to Covid-19, breakfast was not a buffet, but table service cooked to order. There is therefore no excuse for my mushrooms, beans, potato cakes and fried egg being served almost cold. When I complained, my breakfast was replaced.......with another one that was equally luke-warm and unpalatable. I chose not to eat it. At no point, either with my evening meal or with my breakfast, was I asked how my food was. It was as though the staff really weren't interested. Similarly, when I checked out and paid my bill, I was not asked how my stay was, or if everything was all right for me. If they had, I would have told them of my dissatisfaction. As it was, I wasn't convinced that they wanted to know or had the desire to improve their customer experience. I shan't be returning.
