The hotel is located in a lovely spot on the edge of the loch the staff were friendly and helpful but the decor is a little tired with thread bare carpet on the stairs.

The bedroom had all the features you would expect but was small and the very hard with no support in the mattress.

The food however was excellent and reasonably priced

Stayed here while on business. Room 16. Very noisey due to road traffic as its right against the road. Loch view rooms may be a lot quieter. No wifi signal in room which not the best in this day and age for business use.
Staff very friendly . Nice bar and restaurant. Breakfast had varied choice off hot and cold foods.

Bed was ok but not what i would call really comfy. Room i stayed in would benefit from a freshen up.
All in all stayed in a lot worse places but wouldn't rush to stay again. Which is a shame as it has stunning views onto the loch.

Paid a premier price for one of the hotel's new Beach pods. Room was not ready upon arrival and was told to have a drink in the bar. Left after waiting 45 minutes to do other things. Pods are still being installed, with litter out the front of the pod and a building site to the side. Could not held but feel disappointed. Had to pay for the beer in the end :(

Friendly staff, great views, however you will not be able to sleep in such worn out beds and rooms are very outdated. Wifi unreliable.

If you want to spend the night just yards from a busy truck road, this is the place to be. Otherwise, I recommend you go your way. The Loch adjoining the hotel is very charming, but difficult to enjoy after such a hectic night. Even with earplugs everything was shaking.
When the breakfast, which some comments praise the quality, it was only low-end products. Nothing to do with the often good products served in my other Scottish breakfasts.
Regarding dilapidation and cleanliness, others have also already pointed out before me.

Rooms a bit dated. Bath taps did not work. WiFi was terrible. Bar drinks more expensive than central London. On the plus side, the rooms were clean, location spectacular and an ideal base for exploring the Highlands. The staff were brilliant !!

We was staying in Ballachulish but all the places to eat in the evening was either closed or about to close at 7.45 pm on a Tuesday evening the onich hotel was our saviour the food was piping hot and plentiful at reasonable prices we was looked after by a lovely lady originally from Bury great views over the loch

Nice hotel on process of improvements. Lovely cooked breakfast, cereals and porridge available, stunning views. Has pods on lochside looks a brilliant place to wake and view the loch and contemplate

We chose this hotel because it was centrally-located for our plans, but I would go back for the spectacular views from the rooms and restaurant. Truly beautiful scenery even on a windy, gray, wet day.

The food in the restaurant was very good, and the hotel room was comfortable and nice.

The only reason I am writing this review and giving it 2 stars is to absolve the receptionist and our waiter, it is not their fault that this hotel is so abysmal it is a crying shame, the back drops are beyond words where do I begin
1. The room a throw back to the early 90s pastle, damp, spiders several and BED BUG'S which are now in my house!!!
It was clean but bath had black mold come out of the tap when turned on and if your planning on attacking the mountains it's a must, if the mattress had been any harder, it would have been a plank of wood
2. Breakfast and Dining - sub-standard, certainly not worth the extortionate price asked, frozen Iceland back to basics even though there is a marks and sparks no flavour or authentic cooking Breakfast reheated beans portion to fill a mouse everything is bulk buy and Cheap then charging you a fortune and constantly getting the Orders Wrong
3. Service - the concept of service with a smile is lost on most of them especially the Asian manager we climbed Ben Nevis that day returned from the 12hr march when we phoned the management we were greeted with the astonishing reply of "do you know it's 1 o'clock in the morning" and this tired attitude started from the beginning of our stay to the end until time came to settle the bill, he was all smiles this hotel lives of its backdrop they make no effort at all this is what happens when management simply DON'T CARE...... DO NOT Go, not worth the ruining of your hoilday

Had a meal in the restaurant and to my horror that disgusting mess was above me while we were eating the room was but the mattress on the bed is done very lumpy and the springs everywhere had to wait for a while to get checked in then later on went to the bar for a drink had to wait there as well in the end had to go and look for staff to serve me won't be back

We camped overnight in the carpark. Great views but a little bit of noise from traffic.

I was there vor one night. The room was very small, the bed was old and uncomfortable, the street was loud. The shower had too less water to use it. The breakfast was poor.
Service was good and friendly. The view over the loch was great.

Lovely views, good food but service slow, waiter arrogant, when waiting for drinks in beer garden I waited over 45 minutes to get served, even considered going for a drink in my room instead.

Location over the lake is nice but that's basically one of the few upsides of the building. The place isn't too well maintained as in lots of old materials used. The area is near the road which has quite some traffic coming along (feels as if the trucks are driving past you the whole time) not sure if a room on the lake side would be better but this room shouldn't be used for sleeping in. Dinner is possible in the hotel. Nothing spectacular just a basic Scottish menu.
The staff is friendly. The dining rooms weren't that noisy so possibly that our experience was mostly ruined by a terrible room in a beautiful location.

The reason it was poor, is because our room was a very low standard, it certainly didn't look like the photos on the Onich website. We didn't actually stay the room was that poor, the carpet was was all frayed and the shower room was very smelly of damp and not fit for purpose, photos to follow.

Some of the older hotels have their charm. That does not apply here. We had a room on the street, it was just loud. With the windows closed, it sounds like they are open and you would be standing on the street. The More

First time staying here. Great staff, food ok but very reasonable for Glencoe. Hotel could do with a light makeover however very cheap rates. Harp player on during dinner with beautiful loch view made this place so special.

We stayed in the beautiful and very modern beach pods at The Onich Hotel, and the only word is Wow!!!!!

The scenery for one is absolutely breaktaking, look at my mobile uploads just as a reference. The staff St the hotel lovely, and was lovely to know the heating in the room was already on upon oue arrival. The inside of the pods were modern, a really comfortable bed and a TV with free view too. We had a little bit of an issue with a constant water temperature in the pod, but we noticed if we ran the water in the tap as the same him this helped keep it constant and perfect temp.

My only reason for knocking a star level was due to it being a Saturday night and wanting a nice dinner in, there was no dinner service available. As there is not many options in the area and too far from Fort William, it did result in a drive out to find somewhere. However, that didn't ruin our stay as I would gladly and will most definitely stay here again next year.

We booked via AirB&B, however for a better price I would book direct.

Phenomenal location, honestly you'll be taken back. Get some wine to enjoy the sunset. PS. Check out the sky at night, you've never seen stars like it.

Really nice clean room...which was also massive!
Views from the balcony were stunning both day and night....the pebble beach is 2 mins away and good for a wee walk!
Breakfast was really good! Staff friendly and professional...would definitely go back!

I dindt like it at all. I contracted a room and when I arrived they gave me one that did not even look like the photos. I have a view of the roof and an antenna. The receptionist is not there. There is no ventilation. No air conditioning. There is no elevator. There is a lot of humidity inside the whole hotel. I feel cheated.

Fantastic view from our room, bed was comfortable, evening meal was nice but portion was on the small side. Had a starter afterwards to fill up. Buffet breakfast was the worst I've ever had.

meh

In my honest opinion.

In my honest opinion.
Poorly maintained generally. Most obviously the O was missing from the name plaque on the side of the building. If only it ended there?
Smelled of dogs. (I really don't get this "bring your dog along" thing, in Scotland. They smell and I don't like it.
Staff were poorly managed.
Rooms were dated.
Breakfast was fine staff were friendly and trying their best.
Very well placed and great views.

Best advice. . . . . . go elswhere

We stayed in the camping pods right on the lake that are just in front of the hotel. Absolutely stunning location, pod very clean but absolutely no storage space or hooks, could do with a few little extra touches.

Staff are still finding their feet, maybe opened too soon after being closed for so long. Food was OK once served. It could be a lovely venue if under the correct management and well looked after.

After finding no availability on the Isle of Skye, I booked into the Onich Hotel near Fort William and was pleasantly surpirsed at the local welcome I received.

The room was very comfortable and the bar even served my favourite draft Heverlee and with the sun shining I was able to enjoy this with the wonderful view over the loch.

All in all a very pleasant stay

We stopped for lunch and ate out on the patio with beautiful views of the lough. The menu is not huge, but what they have is very tasty. We ordered the scampi and the fish and chips, and the chips were lovely as well as the batter being beautifully light and crispy. They allow dogs into the bar area and on the patio, and have a lovely black Cocker Spaniel that greets visitors as they come in. A great place for lunch!

Shabby decor and colour scheme from the eighties. Original features?
Excellent bar meal in the evening, guess it was a different chef in the morning.
Cooked breakfast looked awful. Amazing view, however, our stay was ruined/ spoiled by the wind and cold, that was indoors. Reckon this is a step above a hostel, popular with hillwalkers, avoid otherwise

we loved our pre-Valentine's stay in a balcony room, super views of the storm raging outside!
Lovely comfortable hotel, really liked it.
A very noisy bathroom fan was the only downside, dropping a star.

Great location and great views, however the hotel itself is in need of updating inside and out, the hotel is for sale so the owners have let it run down, my bed wasn t comfy, towels were all small and with rough edges like they had been cut with scissors out of a full sheet, my room had several cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. I could hear every movement from the other rooms as the wall were that thin, not very private, but on a brighter note the staff were friendly, the bar was good and the breakfast was decent.
