The atmosphere was good inside. I was lucky enough to get a decently cooked steak but my friend bought a spicy sausage pizza which came out with two sausages cut lengthways into a cross which he then had to slice himself to make it edible. On top two whole onions were simply cut in halves and places on the pizza. After asking spmeone how we were meant to eat whole onions he tried to slice one only to find that under the outer layer the onion was completely raw. It made it entertaining for the other friend and i but the guy was really upset and we wont be going back soon.

The new menu is very limited, quite expensive for pub food, and very ordinary. I had a steak sandwich which was chewy, gristly and inedible, and sent it back. Another one arrived which was just as bad. A group of us have been going regularly every month for many years, but not any more.

Great outdoor court yard with plenty of seating under the oak tree. Pool tables are in abundance which tends to be a rarity in Sydney. There are plenty of different areas with in the pub to suit all types.

Tried it again today to give it the benefit of the doubt BUT the food is still expensive and poor at best...bar staff match the quality of the food unfortunately. Dont wadte your money.

Staff were very accommodating when we arrived with a large group. They put some tables together and moved an umbrella which was great! Food was delicious! We had the disco fries and salt & pepper squid.
I'm a huge fan of the oak tree! It's stunning!!

The new Taffy's sports bar is class. From the biggest HD screen ever to the novelty sports bar memorabilia. Very attentive staff supplying cutlery for a burger and generally fun, engaging and switched on for crowds. A rarity in Sydney so you can tell the owners are from Wales who understand the expat culture.

This place is a local institution. The trouble is that since it was put on the 'watch list' by the police for frequent trouble, they have become paranoid.
Last night there were as many security guards and RSA staff walking sound as customers. They looked at people and made notes!
I was there with 2 mates, sat inside in the corner. We had 4 schooners over 3 hours plus a large pizza each. We were just having a casual catch up, not even s big night. We were happily chatting away and the (manager) came over to one of the guys and told him that was his last beer and we'd have to leave. We hadn't been standing/swaying/shouting etc. Ironically he was the quietest of the 3 of us.
When I asked him why, his response was that he showed all the signs of drinking too much. I asked for further clarification and he said he looked tired.
I told him he'd also look tired if he worked 6 days a week and had just had a 3rd baby. It was his first night out for a while. The manager refused to change his mind and our night was unfairly and prematurely cut short by this fool.
Whilst this paranoia exists I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere for an evening beer. Dreadful oppressive atmosphere.

I visited here because it have a reputation and it was very popular in Google. I ordered it medium and medium rare. However, the meat was too cooked and the meat itself was tasteless. I was at Sheraton on the Park, I took the time to visit, even though I was not near enough. but I regret it. The price is cheap so I give two stars. It 's strongly say not to go if someone goes.

25 years between visits and it doesn't seem to have changed much. Massive outdoor garden bar area with a huge fig tree central, very impressive. Great atmosphere late Saturday afternoon when we visited.

This bar has a place for everybody. There's the giant tree with the outdoor party, there's the restaurant, the old school 70's bar, and the smaller rooms upstairs with leather couches and pool tables.

A truly beautiful establishment with extremely helpful staff, we arrived in a large group and they were receptive and able to find a table for 18 people at short notice on a busy night - the staff did a great job of making our night really enjoyable and even supplied a Santa to walk around and talk to the kids.

Would happily visit again!

Taffys is great. I would have given the joint a 5 but for this monstrosity in the corner. The noise it makes when people are playing is great for giving you the urge to finish your beer and get out.

The Oaks Hotel has gone through a great renovation, with major improvements to the bar and grill section. Fantastic all round pub, with a good sports bar, great outdoor drinking area under the oak tree idea for weekend beers in the summer. The recently renovated bar and grill now tops the pub off. Great place to go for the novelty factor alone of cooking your own steaks. I attended one of The Oaks Hotel's master class sessions with Anthony from Victor Churchill meats and the three course menu with matching wines was fantastic. The food was fresh and innovative, the master classes are a new concept but something I'd recommend.

Preferred place over the Crowsnest Hotel, where the bouncers are terrible. The Oaks is the place to be at lower north shore. Stay away from Crowsnest Hotel, the bouncers make the experience horrendous.

I like that they have a takeaway bottle-o always with very nice and helpful staff when all the other liquor shops have closed. The pub itself re food and drinks is ok wish they still served Japanese beer-Asahi Dry please, Mr Manager! The big oak tree in the courtyard is nice but it's often a bit too loud, crowded and smoky for me. But at least a bit of liveliness and night life in the area which is very much needed and appreciated!

Great place, very big, so much so that although I visited twice on the same I only managed to see some of it. Building work going on in a small area, but that is with the intention of making the place even bigger. Out front on the main road they have just finished the sports bar, looks great. Huge Oak tree in the centre of the courtyard out the back. Ample seating, great choice of food and drinks. On a Sunday I was able to get a pint of Pirate Life IPA for $9.20. You don't get that drink for that cheap in many places.

Great night at the bar and grill restaurant. Has a great range of craft beers and a good range of aged steaks to try. We went with a 1.5kg tomahawk between three of us with green beans and potatoes which was the perfect meal for less then $30 per head.

I went to the oaks on a Friday night. We got prime position in the beer garden under the beautiful oak tree which is lit up with gorgeous Christmas lights. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. I had a $22 veggie burger - slightly overpriced but delicious. This is a great casual pub/hotel.
