Great location isn't be-all and end-all. Also great ambience thought. Don't bother eating there unless you like paying fine dining prices at a pub, instead dine anywhere nearby then drink at the oaks - this is Neutral Bay after all, choice is a wonderful thing. Also you'd hate to make it your local - no bands ever and they press play on the same playlist - every Friday/Saturday night!

The Oaks Hotel in Netural Bay is iconic in the area and is our favourite pub venue for 2017. It is an expansive Hotel with numerous bars and dining spaces and you can also enjoy a drink or bite to eat in the beer garden under the famous oak tree. They also put on a number of events throughout the year, matching beers and wines with food. They also run informative whisky tastings and cocktail masterclasses.

We visited The Oaks hotel Neutral Bay on Friday night, to enjoy Beer Off The Wood and dinner in the Bistro. The hotel was packed with people enjoying a drink or two. From 5pm each Friday, in the Sports Bar of The Oaks, you can find them selling XXXX Bitter straight out of the barrel. At only $6.50 for a schooner from the keg, not only is this cheap, but an amazing way to enjoy your beer. Get in early though, as once the barrel is empty, you ll have to wait until the following Friday to enjoy it again. It s on until Jan 31, so there s a few weeks to get in an enjoy this beer.

Beer out of the keg is a historical tradition and drinkers have been enjoying this since ancient times. Today, your beer mostly comes in steel kegs so why not get to the Oaks and be nostalgic.
Whilst you re at the pub to enjoy a beer or two, make your way to the bistro and grab a bite to eat. A range of pub style meals like salads, pizza, burgers, steaks and schnitzels, as well as a few specials of the day.

We started with one of the specials, a poke bowl, which is perfect for summer. The poke bowl, is fresh and healthy bowl of rice topped with seaweed, carrot, edamame, avocado and sashimi grade salmon. We really enjoyed this refreshing meal and thoroughly recommend it as a menu choice.

Pork belly is another favourite of ours and the pork here was delicious. Perfectly cooked, tender inside and crusted with a decent amount of crisp crackling. Accompanied with fennel slaw, spiced apple and cinnamon sauce.

We just had to order a steak, considering The Oaks was just named best steak venue at the NSW hotel awards. You can personally select your cut of meat from the butcher window. There s even a whopper of a tomahawk steak on the menu for anyone that is game. On this occasion we went for the grain fed eye fillet which was a beautiful steak. We completely understand why the Oaks was awarded best steak venue. The steak was accompanied with baked potatoes, green beans and a pepper steak sauce (or your choice of sauce).

Get on down to the Oaks for a Beer off the Wood, dine in the bistro or organize a function

It's so nice dining under the old Oak tree in the beer garden. I felt like I was on a Disney movie set. The steaks are heavenly, and the choice is wide. Offering a true steakhouse experience along with pub style main dishes. The newly refurbished bar oozes style.

Sunday Lunch. Decent pub, great craft beer taplist and the food was top notch. However despite being ~22 degrees outside, inside was really humid and hot; Not sure if the aircon was playing up or something

Great place to bring a group! They have a good range of appetizers so I've always been able to get a consensus on food, and it's so close to Usyd. They also have decent prices for beer during their happy hour. If new to campus or Glebe, definitely give it a try.

Always a great relaxed atmosphere, love dining outside under the beautiful big old oak tree adorned in fairy lights. Wonderful dining menu, food is served quickly by friendly staff, I had the Barramundi with broccoli and the chef was more than accommodating with my food allergy requests. The sticky date pudding for dessert was the best I've had in a long while...

The 'go-to' place if you're in Neutral Bay, especially if you're with a big group and can't decide whether you want to eat, drink, watch the footy or dance on a Saturday night. Recently refurbed, the menu is pretty varied and there's a great outdoor area that's always packed when the sun is shining.

Really like the new Taffy's bar with Americana, Jaana's done a great job of stocking the bottle shop and bar with great wine and beer, and cooking your steak under the oak tree is a classic lower-north-shore experience.

Absolutely the best bar north of the bridge, great atmosphere, large selection of choices, food is great. And the tree is amazing. Every time I return to Sydney I must stop by for a visit.

As someone from the US I came here to watch the superbowl and the following day the KU basketball game. The bar attendants are super friendly and the drinks are great. The other visitors there are super friendly. Seeing as it's been a nice experience to go there so far it seems as though it'll be my new sports pub to go to

Great food and drinks with lots of spaces. The only problem is there are so many different restaurants in The Oats, we were a bit confused when we walked in and don't know which one to try first.
