This place had delicious and fresh food, a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful ambiance. There is so much room to sit and enjoy a drink and a meal, it looks like they run regular promotions too.

The open air area is one of the bests in North Sydney.

Greatest Guiness this side of Dublin in the cheeky side bar.
And an amazing T-bone.
And a log fire.
Now that's a pub.

Neutral Bay locals' favorite place to be! The beautiful Oak tree at the beer garden is lit up like a Christmas tree every night. Good food options, decent range of drinks and ambience is fantastic! A must visit if you're in the neighborhood.

This is an all round location with seating options for every season.

The tree is such a fantastic feature and gives you good cover in the heat, and come armed with extra layers when there is some breeze!

There is also indoor seating by the bar where you order drinks and further seating in a conservatory if you don't want to be in the garden.

Food and drink offering is good with a reasonable variety, the food was delicious and it is all reasonably priced.

DJ was fantastic. Great to have a beer watch the cricket & listen to good music from 90s.

Imagine getting kicked out of a bar because a bartender gets offended that you offered them a $20 tip after you buy $100 worth of prosecco and then getting no redund. Worst staff ive seen in sydney absolutely terrible.

Great location. Excellent social distancing set up and control. Menu didn't have a huge selection but the food was really good. Had the vege burger which was really yummy.

I came to the oaks to celebrate my friends birthday after work at around 10pm. Most of the crew had been there since 3pm. On arrival the bouncer told me my eyes were funny after consuming no alcohol before arrival and that I would be watched. After starting my second game of pool and first drink I was aggressively pushed on the back and being read the law to me like I was some kind of criminal! After I was marched out I was told the police were going to be called if I didn t move away from the front of the premises.
It was so embarrassing how the whole ordeal went down and I will be never returning to the oaks. Shame cause I have lived here all my live and never been treated with such disrespect.

I just love this spot, just need to sit in the back yard to see what it has to offer, can get real busy at night times so come early or stick to a more relaxing afternoon sessions, amazing selection of food with generous portions!!

Love the Oaks, the pizzas are great in particular the tandoori piza, and cook yourself steaks are great quality

The 1936 bar is an amazing space on a hot day. Beautifully air conditioned and quiet on most days other than Friday an Saturday night so you can have a good chat with your mates

This is a really great pub with lots of different areas to enjoy and the tree with the lights is on point however as a vegetarian I was disappointed with the food options in Taffys, I mean come on, it's not that hard to have vegetarian nachos or cauliflower wings? and if I'm going to pay $4 for a game of pool then it better play like a $4 table - which it does not.

Usually end up here in a Friday night, great food and the vibe is awesome!

Please note that this pub, despite being allowed under Council regulations and possessing an outdoor beer garden area, doesn t allow dogs under any circumstances. This is the first pub of this kind that I have seen, particularly rare in the northern suburbs. It should be clearly published on their website and hopefully now that I am warning you here you don t have to experience the same issues as I did having travelled a long way to meet friends and family for Easter and being turned away.

Friday evening after work it has a great atmosphere. Be aware that you may need to get there early.

Father's day Sunday roast.... Terrible! Under cooked beans, stodgy Yorkshire pudding that didn't rise, gravey from a packet. The only redeeming factor was the potatoes.
I got my father-in-law the fillet minion which was however to die for! Delicious.

Acorns falling on your head...thick steaks charing on the grill! Oh The Oaks will give you such a thrill! Outside in the beer garden, a large oak tree shades you on a sunny Sydney day (no acorns falling in real time), a chilled meat cooler showcases all the tasty bovine morsels you can grill up or have masterfully grilled up for your enjoyment. Good selection of beers, both beloved Aussies favourites & local brews; ample wine selection for those after a drop with their dinner & a renovated, modern dining & lounging space full of those who live north of the bridge. From all the hustle & bustle, it is obviously a favourite with all the locals!

Food is consistently good, but never outstanding, that's why I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars. Overall is a great pub/restaurant.

Delicious food here, and great atmosphere. Everything on the menu is good, and the outdoor seating area is beautiful and great to hang out there for an extended time.

Pro tip: do not touch the spicy sausage and then touch your eyes. Make sure to wash your hands before a long night

Very user friendly for families and the menu selection has proven to be tasty for adults and kids.

Do not have your function here. They have a terrible way of keeping a bar tab and then blame you for drinks not agreed to. Agree with other reviewers this place has deteriorated badly.

Large variety of Australian food, fish, meat and other. Good beer! Very cosy atmosphere. Enjoyed very much with my friends. Highly recommend!

aaah, the good old Oaks Hotel. always a safe bet. 3 or 4 different bars for different occasions. Pizzas are good. The steak and salad bar are a bit expensive... but top quality

The institution that is "The Oaks" is a must for everyone venturing into the lower North shore, though the atmosphere can be a bit "cliquey" there for outsiders.

Best enjoyed as part of a group.

Also, I'm not sure I've seen an actual oak there!

Great for a family meal, child friendly with kids drawing packs and good kids meals. Good meals overall too, and good selection of beers.

Bad really bad customer service.. can't speak nicely and treat us like we didn't paid for the beer..will never come to this place again..come for enjoy the day but the staff ruins the day..so disappointed.. don't wasting your time to come to this place guys..!!!

The beer garden is great spot to have a drink or some food. A large variety on the menu.

The reimagined Oaks Hotel did not disappoint. The service, food and wine selection remains first rate and the new interiors are an elegant update. My Chateaubriand at $35.00 was a perfectly cooked and presented superb cut of meat at a reasonable price. Congratulations to The Oaks management and staff, 5 stars from me!!

Whilst Enjoying the pub atmosphere, Sadly the staff do not consider the dynamics of the regular patrons with their own selection of wild music.. Looking around today, at the average patron there today, they were well over 50. I would suggest 95% of us absolutely do NOT enjoy loud heavy rock music blasting away at 12noon whilst we are attempting to have a conversation and trying to enjoy a meal & a drink.... consideration of the patrons in all areas should be a priority..at any restaurant, hotel or anywhere people gather & are a paying customer. It should not be about staff playing hideous loud music for their own benefit.

It is great place to have a small function in the many choices of rooms upstairs with your own balcony with great service.
It has a beautiful magical beer garden and I have a slight obsession with the glorious Oak tree! It is a must to have a couple of drinks or have some of their food under their big Oak tree! :)

Great venue for large groups of people and the rooms upstairs with pool tables in them just adds to the allure of going in a big group!

Nice location in Neutral Bay, easy to get to by bus from most directions. Renovated quality interior, with a great atmosphere under the old oak tree garden.
Upstairs there are a number of themed pool/snooker tables and a convenient bar!
There is also a cook-your-own meat option, apart from that there is the normal range of pub food. A bit on the pricey side, but you pay for location and style.
