Brilliant setting out the back but thought the pork shnizel was poor and expensive.

Went for dinner on new years day.

Ambiance was decent, especially when the outdoor fairy lights were turned on.

However, the food wasn't what we had hoped for. We had the eggplant parmi and the angel hair seafood pasta. Both dishes were under-seasoned and tasted quite bland without the additional of table salt. The side of salad that came with the eggplant parmi, however, was great and we enjoyed the dressing and generous shavings of parmesan

Great location with a few different bars, upstairs closed for pool table use (COVID-19) but pokies are still open and this buttons aren t pushed more than a pool queue!

Always a great place to drink but prices can be a little steep

Waited 40 minutes for food, asked at the bar, they d forgotten our food. In the meantime our friends had been served and finished their meals. Food was average. Mates said the schnitty was good. My sausages were almost unbearably salty

A beautiful place to spent an evening, with a free drinks, taking in the trees lit up to the 9's

The taffy bar is quite good... Great vibe and great ambience.. Loved the atmosphere around... Good place to Chill around with friends.. Ample of parking near by and the food and drinks are quite good..

Sunday night's and babysitters don't mix, but that's never going to be a problem again if you live anywhere near Sydney. We go to the oaks and the kids (9 & 6) love it. Mum and dad get to go out, theres a giant tv screen (you know kids don't care what's on) and the food is always fresh. I even take on cooking the steaks; actually cook them better here than at home.
The oaks is one of those rarities that work whether you're with children or behaving like a child with your mates.
Just a tip- if youre doing the latter, theres some great hiding spots upstairs...

The beer garden is just awesome and the tree magnificent. Further the menu is really surprisingly good for a hotel and thoroughly recommended

awful experience in the oak , wait more that one hour for the steak , and the staffs there were just kept saying waiting , that was on Wednesday night 830pm so horrible management

Loved the cook you own steak in the old days with mates. Nevertheless, moving forward with times this place is still very busy and buzzy. Still great for casual get togethers.

Had lunch there with friends. Love the atmosphere. I had the steak sandwich and it s the best I ve had. I would go back just for the steak sandwich!!

Spacious outdoor area under a picturesque oak tree. The atmosphere is friendly and there are attractive pop-up stands that add character to the venue.

The new restaurant is a joke for the price, 34$ for a cheese plate that was infuriating. Luckily the rest of the oaks hasn't changed so the pub restaurant still has your favorites

Beer world on North Shore, not bad for a pint and something to eate

My parents used to come here a lot when I was a kid. I have followed in the tradition because this is one of the best looking pubs on the north shore. It has an amazing beer garden as well as lots of nice breakaway areas for a private chat. The staff are always friendly and they know how to pull a beer!

Huge courtyard. Had pool rooms upstairs. Great atmosphere on a sunny Sunday when the courtyard is packed.

We really enjoyed sitting at the courtyard below the oak. The steak sandwich and Scotch fillet were great.

Recent renovation of the old back bar during CoVid is excellent. But they ve decided to put a really rubbish, very limited, selection of beer on tap. You have to go to another bar to get better ones...really BAD idea. So marked down because of that!! Put decent beers on tap, Oaks...

Great atmosphere, especially outside in good weather. Good wine list, excellent streaks and the banoffee pie is a great way to finish.

My favourite pub. I like sitting outside under the massive oak tree. Food more on the pricey side for a pub but very tasty. Recommended.

I think it depends on what stage of your life you're in. When I was in my 20s, I loved going there after beach and hang out under their big Oak tree in their huge outside area. It was expensive but very nice and relaxed. Now I have a kid, and it's very uncomfortable being there. The space is quite crammed, and staff make sure you know that they feel you're in the way... Because you probably are. They cram lots of tables and chairs into that area, so unless you're seated, you won't have a good time. But as I said, if you're young and it's summer, it's a good place!

We had a work function in one of the room upstairs. A very attractive place with a beautiful tree wrapped in lights as a centrepiece.

Always fun, a must go to in the Lower North Shore. Sitting outside in kind weather is truly wonderful. To the person who planted the oak tree decades ago - my eternal gratitude

Drinks a bit on the expensive side but the beer garden is a must see

Sticky date pudding. A golden oldie. These guys know how to deliver. Exceptional service and mouthwatering desserts

Bar and grill was a gem. Courtyard area with lit up tree was a nice touch. Food was good, what you would expect from a typical bar hotel.

Awesome place to drink and ponder. If there's a drink you might like, you'll most likely find it there.

Great spot to catchup informally with mates. You don't even have to cook your own steak nowadays.

This was an incredible let down, if you are a local then avoid, if you are female, do not even consider. My mate and I were enjoying the live music and sports on show along with our wives, sitting harmlessly at a table. One of the ladies were approached by security and asked to leave within 5 minutes for showing signs of intoxication , security couldn t provide an example of this, one can only assume it was her actually enjoying the live music they provide. The RSA Marshall had also walked past us upward of 25 times without an issue. The 40 men clearly blind drunk pouring money through the TAB were a non-issue for this particular security guard. Whilst the manager on duty tried to pass off a refund of $15 in the hope of a resolution. Summary, head here for the afternoon, don t take any females as they will be targeted by the 100% male management and security personnel and do not attend in the hope of a long night out, as signs of intoxication at a bar at 9:30pm will have you removed. The new paint is nice, but it is the same old dive.

Amazing place to visit... my only downfall is the pepper sauce there. It was just like a gravy nothing like a normal pepper sauce you get with your steak. Just a bit of positive criticism. Other than that great place.

One of the oldest places in Sydney. Great atmosphere and quite affordable. Food can be better.

Went to watch some sports at the sports bar, but they had a DJ banging out loud music the whole time and wouldn't play the sound. How is that a sports bar?

they have DIY steaks and self serve salad bar. pretty value for money but super hard to get seats during sport season
