The hotel is very clean and has a few places to eat inside but the rooms could be a little bigger.

Great central location. Room was small but clean. Room service was a joke.
Good basic rooms tv bathroom clean bed nothing special but all you need
The location of the hotel is unbeatable: directly opposite Madison Square Garden and Penn Station - in the middle of Manhattan, so that almost all sights can be reached on foot. The rooms are clean, sometimes a bit small. What I don't like at all is that you have to pay a "resort fee" for the room price, which then includes international phone calls, the fitness room and the supposedly free wifi.
Clean room but zero facilities to make tea or coffee. No fridge. Unhelpful staff, sometimes rude. The doormen were nice. Tick-Tock restaurant is overpriced. There were quite a few hidden costs like the gym I never used or the WiFi which was supposedly complimentary or the use of the phone... Though the location is very central it's not a pleasant neighbourhood. It's a historical hotel but I'll never stay here again.
Good location to walk to Broadway musical. Breakfast varies in location and menu depending on the day of the week, and weekdays are more luxurious in buffet style. Chips are indispensable, as they all require cleanup. I went there with two people, so if I left it for $ 4, the next day, I received various thanks in Japanese.
The service was excellent hotel is very central to all the places you would wish to visit
Lack of renovation. Extremely dark rooms. The security system to access the rooms is outdated and useless. But the worst is the lack of friendliness and dedication to service of the staff, sometimes bordering on lack of respect. The only good thing is the location, although with the hotel offer in the area they should do a little more. I do not recommend it at all. I would not go back.
Nice hotel in a decent location, most places in walking distance with a supermarket and Starbucks close by. Staff helpful - apart from the guy who booked our taxi to the airport for the wrong time, then just shrugged his shoulders and walked away with no apology (Ronald). Rooms were small and some of the facilities could do with an update. No tea/coffee in rooms. Gym fairly small but has fairly decent equipment. Would stay again as its a good functional hotel.
Beautiful place great service will deff be there again
It is a good location to move on and the employees are extremely friendly
The room was good enough
Conclusion a good option for price benefits
The room was super tiny. It was not much bigger than a queen size bed. My boyfriend hated it but I told him this is NYC, so don't expect too much. The location is great though. That's why I picked this hotel over others. We were able to get to multiple places easily with the subway.
The best location. It is an old hotel but to just sleep, after kicking the city, it is fine. Very comfortable bed! !
Church Services are held there. The personnel have gone above and beyond accommodating us.
This was the best restaurant I ve been to in a while. Service was great make sure you ask for Demetrius he was a great waiter. Food was unreal. Deff recommend this place if you are ever in town.
Wonderful and historical infrastructure in midtown Manhattan. Walking distance to transportation hubs as well and restaurants and entertainment places.
Very nice rooms. Elevators had some issues with taking a long time to respond, but overall, not a big problem.
Never been in a hotel room so small. Not enough room for two people. No fridge no tea or coffee facilities.
Shower didn't work. Other than that very comfortable and accommodating.
May 2017-The hotel is located very close to Times square. The ambience looks very nice when you enter the hotel, but the rooms are very small even to walk around. We had a tough time accommodating our baggage in the room and we were 3 people. It is very congested.
I stayed here for work. The rate was over $300 per night. The room was small and it had been a long while since it had been pained etc. The paint had scratches everywhere. There was no coffee or tea in the room. The shower was old, and sprayed water on one of the windows. I had to call twice for a toothbrush to be brought up to the room.
The fitness room was excellent. The location is good too.
Great location, rooms are clean, bathroom is a disaster (very old and ugly, also no consistent water temperature or pressure). Was expecting more from an apparent 4 star hotel. Booking it last minute saves you a lot of money.
Never in all the years of staying at this hotel have they let me down and most recently when me and my wife made a trip from NC to NYC they went above and beyond, rooms are always clean and fresh, I like how everyone on staff is always smiling and willing to assist you with help finding your room.
Special shout out for Michael Simms - Guest Service Manager , he took care of me and my wife in a very big way, very professional and willing to assist me when i made a mistake i booked my room for the wrong date he was there to help, and helped us get a better room, if you get a chance to read this thank you so much dont think your kindness goes unnoticed, its people like you who keep people like me coming back to the hotel
Samuel Perea.
Clean
Friendly
Helpful crew
Secured
But a bit thin walls
Great place to stay friendly staff and had a great time
Location is amazing. Unfortunately the service is average, the wait for the elevator is long and we were usually crammed inside of one.
Location - Probably the only reason this review got a 2 star.
Services - The gym is OK, the rooms are really small and in bad maintenance, the service staff is rude (especially in the reception), 2$ per bag for safekeeping.
Experiance - I will not return to this hotel. The hotel locked us out of the room because they had a problem with the reservation (they didn't even apologize) - can one imagine coming back soaking wet from a storm to find the us locked out of the room? When I'm a paying costumer? The hotel said we had only a reservation untill that date - but we had a reservation for 2 extra dates. We had to wait outside our room in the Lobby while the receptionist looked up our reservation. We waited 1 hour outside while they sorted it out. When we requested to get the reciept we got rejected (only when a manager arrived did we get it). It was a terrible expirience and I will not return to this hotel.
Stayed overnight in the John Jay dorms. Security was good, annoyingly so. Elevators were fast.
Great location room larger than expected, ready to check in early, cool old art deco style
Amazing Experience!!! I had a great stay here. Room was elegant and cleaned and the bed was so comfortable for sleeping. The atmosphere was cozy & enjoyed our stay so much. We highly recommend them.
Location is great. In the middle of everything. Rooms are quite small. Fine if you aren't a family or are only in need of sleep.
The charm of the 1930s but the weight of the years makes itself felt
We ate at the Tick Tock Diner which is on the first floor of the hotel. We were there early afternoon so it was not overly crowded. The food was delicious and I was thrilled that they had Gluten Free pancakes All in all a great time.
Pricey, cramped and very old rooms. Especially the carpet on the floors, it smells like mold.
Very good location. Close to subway Pennsylvania station. There is a CVS which is walking distance from the hotel. The rooms are nice and the bathrooms have bathtubs and showers in one. There are electrical outlets in bathrooms and elsewhere in the room. And there is a hairdryer. Free Wi-Fi is available at the hotel.
Service was great. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are small and could use some updating but you can't beat the price for the location.
Nice hotel in Times Square. Penn Station and Madison Square Garden are steps out the entrance. The minute you walk out of the hotel you are in the "thick" of NYC - people and action everywhere morning and night. If you are looking for a quiet location, this is not it. We heard that the rooms are small, but we stayed the New Yorker twice in June and both times had large (by NYC standards) rooms - possibly because we are Wyndham Rewards members. The rooms were updated and well appointed. The bathrooms are very small, however, with only elbow room and not space to keep a toiletry bag - other on a towel shelf. Other than that, the room was great! If you want to be in the center of NYC action as well as a nice hotel for a reasonable price, the New Yorker is it.
Absolutely the location. Rooms are small but this is New York. Great Views Friendly and Accommodating staff. I needed extra blankets. Housekeeping was at my door in 10 min!
Not recommended. The elevators feel like they come once an hour, you always have to wait. The rooms are very, very small, we shared a 1.40 m bed with a duvet. The windows are wind permeable, it is very cold and drafty in the room. The breakfast is miserable, definitely not with book! The only really positive thing is the location, it is great. However, we would not come back. When I checked in, I was also informed of facility costs that should be debited from my credit card. $ 45 a day. If this is the case I will definitely complain !!!!
Fairly nice. I got charge twice but they were happy to correct the mistake. Very friendly staffs and quite accommodating. The prices are reasonable.
A for a room with a view of the Empire State building. All rooms have pretty nice view though. Mine faced the Hudson and I certainly can t complain. i m posting a picture that is a view from mine.
for anyone considering staying at this hotel: i got allergies here that resulted in minor sniffles. i ve had that happen on the east coast. dunno why. i always bring benedryl just in case.
my only other complaint is that they have no coffee in room. bring your own instant coffee and a water heating device like, the water otter .
Pro tip: visit the rooftop party/bar & dinner place inside the Renaissance Hotel. It s about five minute walk from the New Yorker hotel. they have a well loved happy hour & it s quite joyous here. nice views!
This hotel is functional but is in desperate need of a renovation. Our room was dank, dark and smelly.
Beautiful Art Dec building with amazing helpful staff
Sumptuous hotel on 8th Avenue and Brodway. Affordable prices for a very high-end luxury
Nice hotel, but a little expensive for what you get, plus you have to pay extra fees upon arrival
Very good and near the centre of NY! Insidie you have to go to tic toc restaurant!
The room was nice, but small. No coffee machine and I was frustrated that there was no complimentary coffee in the lobby. Amenities are oversovers, especially for a Wyndam hotel.
They gave these small square pillows which didn't give me a good night's sleep. The beds were a little too tall too. The bathroom isn't that large but New York isn't known for having lots of space.
Good the staff couldn't do enough hotel very central
We got a slightly upgraded room on a top floor! View was nice but the room was a bit small. No fridge and the shower changed temperature quickly and unpredictably. Otherwise nice hotel in a great area.
I was very pleased with the stay that I had at the New Yorker. I thought that the staff was very friendly and the rooms were kept very nice and clean. I would have hoped the room would have been a little bit bigger but it was big enough where my friend and I were able to move around without being crammed like the previous hotel we stayed at. I would definitely stay here again.
A ok hotel that was built in the 30s with some great art deco style. And although some of the rooms are very small & in need of some renovation, the beds are comfortable & cleaned every day. For the time we were there it was great & the location was perfect.
Staff was wonderful, satisfying our every need...located in a central located area, down blk from MSG, LIRR, Pebn station and walking distance from Herald Square.
After staying three days here for a business trip, I can only say positive things about my experience. The amenities were great, the decor was beautiful, and the rooms - though modest in size - were clean and functional. I would definitely stay here again!
A great place I recommend to all the best location and even nicer service!
Was only there for a short weekend stay, Wee bit small, but NYC.
Great location! Easy access to Penn Station
Strangely variable pricing because exactly a year ago I stayed here for $112 but this year on the same exact date as last year I paid $258 for the night! That aside, it's a quality hotel experience.
Nicely appointed and renovated rooms, great location and AC that works.
Location is great. Rooms are clean and cozy. 24 hour restaurant had great food.
No. Just not much at all for the price you pay. Very small rooms and bathrooms. No water pressure for a shower. Hot cold hot cold hot cold. The place is in remodel mode but nothing going on.
For a hotel that boasts about its history and how long it has been around you would think they would know how to get people into their rooms quickly. We tried to check in at 6PM (check in time was 2PM). They took us aside and spent FOREVER getting our information. It was 20 minutes before they even told us that housekeeping was behind and our room wasn't even ready yet! Then another 20 minutes while they tried to figure who knows what out. In that time we could have just gone out to dinner or explored the city! Such a frustrating experience!
Nice hotel located one block from Penn Station. Rooms were a little small but comfortable. Nice fitness center, and staff was courteous. Very convenient to subways. Only drawback was the street noise, which was audible throughout most of the night.
I got bad experience with this hotel. So, I really do not like to go in that hotel again.
Basically, I booked a family room with double queen beds in July, 2012. A lady on front desk told me that the room you booked is
not good and water is leaking. I said ok, give me another same room, everyone know that hotel does not provide room number in online booking. Still she said the room you booked is leaking. And no other room is available same like that. So, she gave me a one queen bed room + a single bed matress and they did not refund me any thing that I moved to one double bed instead two double beds.
I visited the hotel on business. It's a good establishment. The New Yorker, under Wyndham is respectable again.
Tesla would turn in his grave to see what the prices are
Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Staff and location is 5 stars. Clean rooms, great view... i didn't need anything more to enjoy NYC
Excellent hotel.
We have used a quadruple.
The room is not very large but it is well furnished and the spaces are well divided with two armchairs, support points and tables.
The service is small but also well disposed.
The amenities are all there including water, coffee and tea capsules, added every day. Beds are smaller than normal but you sleep well.
Courteous staff. Fast check-in and out
