bad. In works. Despite the beautiful deco architecture, they gave us a very small room after trying to charge us 22 more at the pre-paid rate. Poor heating and not even a minibar in the room. Avoid it.

Positive: beds were comfortable, heating system in room was nice--very cozy, it was fairly close to everything we wanted to see.
Negative: smallest room I've ever stayed in anywhere, staff was clueless--entire stay was chaotic. Attitude of "that's not my job", hallway smelled of mildew, bathroom was so small, u couldn't shut the door if you were sitting on the toilet, there were folded up pamphlets being used under the tv stand feet to protect the carpet, we paid an extra $20 for a view that wasn't much of one, never could manage to order room service. We weren't given a menu or even the number to call to order. Not impressed. Overpriced. Won't stay there again.

Great location from Times Square. Located 1 block west of Penn Station Amtrak and 5 blocks east of Times Square. You will hear sirens w/ city view but I had no problem sleeping.

Early checkin was available and I believe I paid $75 (weekend). Early bag check is $5 per bag.

Great hotel but somewhat worn. Centrally located and has Madison square garden as the nearest neighbor. Walking distance to time square and empire state formation.
Remember that they charge extra at check-out for room service and Wi-Fi ++

This is the hub. Great location and helpful staff. If your coming to New York, be at New Yorker. Want to give a very special mention to our housekeeper Maria who made us smile every morning! The only fault is the water temperature in the room was a bit of a mission, shower seemed to have a mind of its own at times. However, great stay and thank you for having us, we will be back!

I was surprised how much we enjoyed staying here. The staff is friendly, the accommodations were small but well packaged and the view (at least above the 30th floor) was stunning. The large (and only) window in our room had a direct, centered view of the Empire State Building. Nice cafe on the 39th floor.

Stayed 2 nights. Location, lobby great. But that's where the wheels come off. I expected a small room but the bathroom was awful. Window casement painted black and sloppy job. Windows did not open and had a translucent white privacy coat, again a sloppy job. Shower tile grout had black mildew, anyone there heard of bleach spray? Very cheap shower curtain and rod. A messed up bath drain, a baseboard heater that I couldn't figure out how to turn the ancient thing off, so it was too hot in bathroom. Awful lighting, no vanity space and a toilet from the jazz age. The water pressure was amazingly great, but the sink drains at the pace of an elderly snail. Was looking forward to staying here, but it didn't deliver.

This was our first visit to NYC, so we weren't sure where to stay. We chose the newyorker and we are so glad we did! The hotel staff was so kind and helpful! We stayed in a newly renovated room, and it was great! There was a subway station right outside of our hotel, which was so ideal! We will definitely stay with them again on our next visit to the Big Apple!

The hotel is truly in a distinct place in the city, which is basically its attraction.
Otherwise, the rooms are very small for the price, no kettles except in higher end rooms, no mini fridges either.
Heating was Ok, it was a bit loud a lot of the time and is not enough for a cold NY winter, the bathroom was clean though.
The staff were not friendly at all, they know how to do their job, and will get it don, but they re not cheerful, they don t smile and respond after multiple questions.

I chose it as a hotel for traveling alone. It was old but clean and hotel atmosphere. Room was not so small and we could spend comfortably.
It is recommended because it is a good location for shopping and sightseeing.

Loved our stay in The New Yorker. One small issue with stopped up toilet but it was fixed right away. Clean, nice staff and a great location. Madison Square garden and Penn Station right across the street. 2 great restaurants located at the hotel, a little pricey but everything in NYC is pricey. Would def stay again..

Clean, but very basic hotel rooms. I'd rather pay a little more for better quality. My company got the room, but I would go somewhere else if I could. Shower had inconsistent water temp, no fan for bathroom, and sheets were clean, but obviously stained. Elevators have very long lines to go up, and check in person confused herself when checking everyone in. A line formed behind us. Paint is peeling, shower curtain had rips, and no where to hang towels to dry. Very good location though, near Javits and Penn Station, gorgeous architectural details, and if you need no frills, it might be worth it. To be clear, I am basing this review not knowing the price of the room, so it might be a great value. Good for one night, but that's it.

Beautiful and comfortable. While the rooms are small, it's still a very nice place to go while staying in the Big Apple. I initially had some huge issues at check-in, but the staff was nice enough to accomodate us for the confusion and gave us a room despite the booking being unmarked.

This 4 starts hotel can not deliver fork & knife to your room. If you really want them you can come down and get them from the restaurant at the lobby , that s exactly what they told me. I have talked to the room service manager but unfortunately he also couldn t make my order happen. Besides that, the room is not equipped with a water kettle and they can not deliver a cup of hot water to your room.

Location is good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is just okay. Mine was very cramped, otherwise everything you'd expect from a Wyndham. The building is very old so the plumbing is quite dated. The showerhead is low so if you're over 5'8 you're going to feel it's small.

The Pros:

The Pros:
- The location can not be matched - it was just the best spot for access to everything (the Subway, Empire State Building, Times Square, the Vessel, Macys). It is a phenomenal spot and made the trip commutes around NY very easy.
- The staff were friendly and courteous.
- The lobby is lovely.

The Cons:
- The rooms are dated and decaying. Our first room wasn't even cleaned properly when we went in and much smaller than the advertised pictures. We got moved to another room easily and that room was OK but barely. We got to see next door's room and that was a little better so it's random how the rooms are allocated and some are better than others.
- Nothing really inclusive like other hotels. No mini bar, the service was also slow (took 3 or 4 separate calls for someone to even pick up).
- The TV reception was abysmal as if we were in 1991 - we had someone come up and look at it and even he couldn't so much to fix it.
- I must also add that the elevators heightened by fear while staying there. The noises and creeks dont give much confidence.

Ultimately that location is just superb and if you can lower your standards for a room for a week or so then this is a great place to stay.

Decided to book a 3 day weekend in Manhattan to see a concert. New Yorker was a great place to stay. Got to just walk around the city and explore with no agenda. Fabulous restaurants in the hotel if you don't feel like leaving. Not too pricey for central Manhattan.

I would like to thank Nada, Micheal and Barry the hotel staff for being simply AWESOME during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hotel staff ensured we remain safe, catered to our every need and was so thoughtful to all of the nursing staff and others amongst us.

I have a lot of problems with this place I come here once a week for therapy and the front desk staff is very rude if I m early they refuse to let me use the restroom they say I have to wait till therapist is ready and use they re bathroom. Also when waiting in the hallway you could drop dead from the heat it is so so hot in the hallways no AC no air at all. Lastly one morning I came early to my appointment and I sneezed and took a tissue from the front desk and the desk man was very rude and said the tissues are only for hotel guests. This place has a lot of offices and business here as well it s not only a hotel they should treat all people with respect not only the people who pay to stay at the hotel

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The location is perfect as penn station is opposite. All the staff were helpful and very polite. Check in was really quick and check out also. The room was slightly smaller than I thought it would be but it was comfortable. The room was spotless and was cleaned daily and the bed was very comfy. My only gripe was no coffee facilities in room as I like a coffee as soon as I wake. That aside I cannot reccomend this hotel highly enough and if I return to New York I would definitely stay here again.
