Ariana at the front desk had a very poor attitude. She would not listen to me or answer my question, so I had to call my travel company to find my answer. The other staff were lovely and helpful. Ariana is the one bad apple in my entire experience at the New Yorker Hotel. (also could have used a coffee pot in my room)

Excellent location, but peeling paint in the shower, missing tiles around toilet, no space to put down suitcase, closet too narrow for hangers, worse ......an iPad stolen from luggage left for a few hours in the baggage/ storage room supposedly camera-secure and with no response from management

Stuck in the 20s? This place had good service and keeps pretty busy. I wish they had stepped up their decor game. Closet was super small for a two bed room. Some of the towels were dirty but the staff was very nice helpful in getting them replaced.

Amazing Experience!!! I had a great stay here. Room was elegant and cleaned and the bed was so comfortable for sleeping. The atmosphere was cozy & enjoyed our stay so much. We highly recommend them.

I would give this zero stars if I could. This hotel is by far the worse I have ever stayed in. This is our first time in New York City and the only reason I chose this hotel is because of the convenient location by the train station. When it was time to go to bed there was construction going on outside which was absolutely unbearable. It was as if it were directly outside our window. We tried everything to drown the noise. To no avail, we called the front desk and the manager on duty offered to move our room ten floors up. If he heard how incredibly loud the noise was he would have known that would have done nothing. At this point we just wanted to go. We inquired about a refund since we paid for a one night stay and were unable to sleep, he said there was nothing he could do. Being in customer service myself, I know there is always something you can do to appease a guest especially in a manager position and he chose to be argumentative over the phone. Once we arrived in the lobby there I requested to speak to a manager because I could not believe the treatment we had received and surely it had to be a mistake. He said oh I am the manager and as I told you I can t do nothing about construction . Completely caught off guard, I calmly explained the noise was unbearable and he said I offered to move your room and we gave you an early check in. First of all we had arrived at noon, yes before check in however we were all set to pay the $5 fee per bag to check our bags in so we could enjoy the short time we were there without lugging around our bags. We did not ask or expect to be checked in early. So you can understand my shock when we were treated terribly towards the end of the day. All I wanted was half of my money back since we weren t able to stay the night. Instead we paid $270 to end our trip early and take a train home at 3 a.m due to problems with your hotel. Not to mention we were supposed to be celebrating our 3 year anniversary hence the whole reason for our trip. This is our first trip and it was an absolute waste due to the unfairness and unwillingness to understand your customers concerns. Being able to sleep in a room you paid $300 a night for is not asking a lot in my opinion. I will never stay in one of your hotels nor will I recommend it to anyone. I will tell everyone I know about this awful experience. Absolutely pitiful and disappointing. Do not waste your money at this hotel unless you plan on not being in your hotel room for the length of your stay

Great stay in a fine old historic hotel. Good sized room for 3 of us (two double beds and two bathrooms) next to Mohammed Ali's suite of his 70s stay. Decor is 1930s brought up to date.

This room is teeny tiny & reminds me of my Big Mamma s house. The smell is alarming & it looks nothing like the pictures. Their system was down & they had to manually issue room keys. They offered no condolences for the hour long wait in line or the fact that we had to check our bags & come back another hour after pre checkin because the room wasn t ready. And when it was ready...it was still dirty. Don t waiste your time or your money.

Comfortable, but could be remodeled, as the place feels like it s been untouched for decades. Internet was very spotty, the bed creaky, and you could hear everyone on the hallways. More importantly, the key reset every single night. Wouldn t recommend to anyone.

I've stayed here a few times and the rooms are a good size, clean and the price is affordable for NYC. The location is good and close to diners, shops and easy to get to the subway. Would stay here again when I'm back in NYC.

Great location, everything is right at the corner. Unlike new hotels in New York it's an old property so rooms are spacious. No package handling fee which was a good thing as you could get small packages delivered here without paying anything extra

Amazing location!!! Friendly and helpful staff. Due to the age of the hotel, the sound proofing wasn't good and you can hear just about everything outside your room, even street level (I was on the 23rd floor). The tic tock diner in the hotel was very homey and food and service great. If I ever go back to NYC, I will certainly go back to this hotel.

Lovely place breathtaking view, I stayed on the 36th floor and enjoyed a spectacular view on 35. Small but clean rooms but you know someone who goes to new york is only interested in a bed and a comfortable, clean, strategic bathroom and above all a breathtaking view on the upper floors

This is the first time I've ever written a review online. We had an absolutely wonderful stay here! I can't say enough about the staff/customer service. They went "over the top" to ensure that we had a great experience, as we travelled to NYC to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We travel a lot, and it is rare to be treated so well! The rooms were clean, the view of the Empire States Building was stunning, and we were within walking distance of Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, restaurants, etc. We will definitely be staying here again! Don't waste your time looking for other places....you will not regret it!

Three stars for location, service, and connected diner. The rest is subpar; rooms are tiny and un-impressive. Stay for location but not for comfort. Not a terrible place either, just "meh"

The location of the hotel was great, right across the street from Penn Station which made it easy to get around. The room we were in was very basic and very small. The water pressure and temperature were temperamental. But for a one night stay the hotel did the trick.

I stayed here for a night and got possible the worst room in my life. The room did not have a coffee machine, had white bright lights that made me crazy, not enough towels and the view from my window was a wall!

Oddly enough I have been staying in lots of hotels around the city lately. Just budget friendly places to crash after work while renovations happen on my home. This one was a higher class bracket than others I have been in the past two months. Nice lobby, good location, but I laughed when I entered the comically small room with a twin bed. Definitely not worth the price.

It is a very good location for Korean travelers. Korean Town is within a 10-minute walk. If you get tired of eating a hamburger, you can go to a place where you can eat Korean food. I couldn't see Asians for 4 days of stay. At the same time as I go outside, I can hear Korean too ... The facility fee is $ 15, and I paid $ 69 for 4 nights at checkout. The United States is a bit annoyed by the cost of payments in addition to accommodation and taxes. Security is good.

Bathroom was not as clean and the wall paint was stripping. The hotel needs to redecorate and upgrade. The carpets in the lobby could use a change or a deeper clean. It wasn't a comfortable wowing experience. But it was in the city and close to everything.

Nice and well located hotel, very tight massssss! We traveled my wife and I and we could hardly fit.

The shower is another problem, when bathing it was impossible to regulate the water, getting too hot (too much) or too cold.

Avoid having breakfast in the hotel restaurants, in addition to being very expensive, the service left a lot to be desired.

On the same sidewalk coming out of the hotel on the left, walking a block there are a number of cheaper cafes.

The cleaning part was impeccable, everything very organized and clean.

Anyway, what mattered most was the location!

Hotel from 1929, then the most modern hotel in New York. It is still largely in the style of the time. In the middle of Manhattan. Times Square is less than 10 minutes' walk away. Rooms are small but neat. Staff are very friendly and there are 3 restaurants at the hotel where you can eat in every price range.

Super busy hotel in the heart of Manhattan. Good cost-benefit. Close to subway stations A, C and E and Penn Station, which makes it very easy for those traveling by train.
Remembering that the best way to get to Manhattan from both JFK and EWR is by train! I always take the LIRR train when I arrive in NY via JFK and NJ Transit when I arrive via EWR.

This hotel was at a perfect location where I needed to be, close to everything and everyone I needed to see for work. When I first got there I was placed in a room as big as my closet yes it's New York City so I am well aware that the rooms are small and I was OK with that. But it smelled like feet, I thought I could deal with it but I couldn't so I called and I was quickly moved to another room which I was told was in a remodeled floor . What a huge difference the rooms were still the same in size but the shower was updated and the furniture were updated as well, and it smelled fresher and clean. The next day, I tried to take a shower , the stream of water was barely strong to wash my face with, I dealt with it but not happily, It was a good thing I was only there for one night. The restaurant is amazing great service and the diner was always very very busy, I didn't eat there but it looked like everyone did not just the people who stayed at this hotel,it must be good, I know the prices were very good because I checked the menu. Stay there if you want but make sure you get an updated room .
