The new Sharks! Exhibit is a wonderful addition to the aquarium. I have had membership for several years now and kids enjoy coming to visit the moral eel, who is always on the hide out and the cute sea lion show. Unfortunately it is a pretty small place compared to the world class aquariums in Baltimore and Atlanta. You can't really kill 2 hours here.

The aquarium has gone through a lot of construction since the damage of hurricane Sandy. The new Shark building is just amazing. You can walk through a clear tunnel with fish and sharks all around you. There is still a lot of work to be done, however it is well worth a visit. There is a parking lot, but parking is pricey. If possible, use public transportation to get there

For $ 15 it is a good option to spend the afternoon. The aquarium is not a very big place but it is entertaining. In two or three hours it is completely covered. Recommended the shark pond, it is really interesting. It is a place that educates so that children have a lot of fun.

Damn was this place expensive. Nothing against the hard-working people that work there and while it was a fun two hours with my kid. At $25 a person and $18 for parking, it was a little steep.

Also the only two open buildings were the fish and sharks. There are many plans for developmentbut I expected more today.

Line was sooooooooooooo long. We purchase the tickets online so my kids and i didnt have to wait. The staff had an attitude. They directed everyone who had purchased to wait on a seperate line. The line went past the broadwalk past the aquarium.

The facility itself is still a mere shadow of its former self since it never FULLY recovered from Sandy. BUT, the saving grace is the new shark tank. Now THAT is very nice .
Downzide is the parking.
it has graduated pricing ..not a bad thing in itself. But information on how the systemworks would be nice. I dont know if the attendant was just being lazy ,confused or this is the way the parking system.is designed. If you pay cash ,you have to leave the line , drive BACK to a different part of the parking lot thats not fully illuminated (safety concern) insert your ticket into an automated machine to get the receipt , jump BACK into your car ,go BACK onto the line and give receipt to attendant before he will let you out
Smooth operation ,right? NOT!
Because the machine eats the ticket to spit out the reciept and the attendant refused to open the gate for me to leave even though he was given the reciept with the amount i paid to exit.
There were at least 3 others with same issue. Would've been 5 stars if it wasnt for the parking

I love

Save your money!! Huge rip off, super expensive, the lamest selection of fish. NO AIR CONDITIONING in any of the indoor attractions, and filled with so many people. You can literally see more exotic fish at a fish market. And the shark tank is nothing to brag about. A couple of tiny sand sharks swimming around. Don't waste your time here folks! You'll thank me later!

Granted we went on an off season, chilly day but I will not base my review off of this.

The aquarium seems well kept but it s incredibly small. For NY, I was expecting an aquarium to match the state but this aquarium could easily be found in a small town in another state.

We took our time, visited each station and it only took us an hour and a half.

Knowing the money for ticket goes to wildlife/a good cause makes it worth it but the actual experience was just ok.

I also have a tendency of basing every aquarium experience with my favorite aquarium which is one located in Dallas TX (no, I m not from Dallas)

I d take this review lightly though because this might be the best aquarium ever for you.

Very beautiful aquarium.

Very beautiful aquarium.
Certainly quite small, for a high price all the same.
We could attend the show of seals, it was nice, the duration of this show was 15 minutes, there is a lot of space.
The film in 4D on sharks (without surplus of cost) is interesting

Wish we'd spent more time but we couldn't due to the heavy rains but it was fun nonetheless. The place looks great and the prices are good considering they always need money. My Godson had a great time and surprisingly the adults there were not rude. The staff was cool and we all had enough space to see the sharks!! It was fun to go back after so many years. Good job NY Aquarium and NYC Parks.

Strollers not allowed to main building, no where to sit and enjoy the tanks, not enough trees, fish overcrowded in tanks and not healthy, dirty tanks, overpriced parking, stupid parking rule to leave within 15 mins of paying even if you prepaid for 3 hours! Sad that NYC aquarium is so bad!!!

Inside there is a huge fish tank where a variety of fish up to the rays and shark very nice and outside is the show of the seals for 15 minutes very interesting and educational also has fast food site also has penguins all that and more the entrance is 30 dollars per person I like you can spend a lot of time inside with the children.

All types of fishes. A bit too crowded during weekends. Some wonderful shows. Kids get absolutely crazy. A lot of fun. Yearly subscription is a good plan for those who live in Brooklyn or Manhattan

They're still rebuilding things but the tickets are discounted and they have a great show you can attend. Bring water though, as with any park everything is expensive and the food stands have the longest line wait out of everything

Such an amazing day out. The vast array out sea creatures from all over the world in one place is amazing. I love animals and just seeing this was beautiful. So many colors and lots to look at.

Wow. Awesome. I used to live near and always visit, after Hurricane Sandy they lost alot of fishes But now 6 years after it became amazing place to visit. Its worth any money the charge to get in.

Very overpriced for how small it is.

The place is nice and the sea lion show is great but there really isn't that much there.

It's not worth 30 dollars for an adult ticket.

There is a new building being built and the touch tank was closed. Maybe those will add a star in the future.

I'm of the opinion that NYC should have a much better aquarium than this, but it still makes for a fun afternoon out in Coney Island. It's pretty small, but there's still a lot to do, and it fits in nicely with a day at the beach.

Way too crowded... First we had to park o 3/4 mile away and walk in (parking lot was full, which they do warn you about on their website). Then the line to see the sharks was an hour and a half waiting in the brutal sun and we sadly had to skip it for this reason. Also, the touch tank was closed= one very disappointed six year old (&mom).

$11.95 tickets were great but $18 to park is outrageous, especially considering the Bronx Zoo is only $17 for ALL DAY parking.

Thankfully the $18 covers your parking for up to 3 hours so you can spend 15-20 minutes at the aquarium and the rest of the time you paid for on the boardwalk, beach, or at Nathan's. They need to adjust/lower guest's expectations on their website and other advertising.

The Saturday morning I went (roughly 11 am), the place was packed with people (including me) scratching their heads wondering where the rest of the attractions were. The construction is literally everywhere and causes bottlenecks with the guests trying to navigate around it, including in the comically small parking lot.

Did not see sea otters at all, penguins were hiding on the rocks since their enclosure was being cleaned, pelicans looked suicidal, and the water in every exhibit (indoor and outdoor exhibits) was filthy and covered with algae which made the animals that should have been visible almost impossible to see.

It's clear the place is limping by until the big reveal of their new shark exhibit scheduled for 6/30/18. The aquarium legitimately should be closed until then or offer free admission for the very little you're able to see.

Save your money and go to the Bronx Zoo instead.

Great experience right in the heart of Brooklyn for kids and adults alike! We've all been here on a school trip as a kid, but go back as an adult & appreciate all the knowledge & culture Brooklyn has to offer. Newly renovated with all kinds of fascinating sea animals. Great views & even interactive, make sure you catch one of the live Sea Lion shows. I had a ball & took some great pictures. I had more fun this time around as an adult! Make it a cute "day date" & then stroll onto the boardwalk, get on some rides & grab some eats. All in one fun!!

Terrible place to visit. Is like fighting a war. Way too CROWDED. You really have to shovel yourself in order to see those fishes. After the Sandy storm, this place been downsized, all the fishes are gone.
