Trafalgar square is one of the most visited tourist attraction in the city. Located near the national library, this place is always bustling with tourists. I walked to the square as part of my on-foot London visit and had lunch in one of the restaurants nearby.
The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom and the largest library in the world by number of items catalogued. It holds over 170 million items from many countries....
we visited this place and National Library in May,2012....

The National Gallery is an art museum in Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, in Central London. Founded in 1824, it houses a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900.

It's mostly what one would expect from going to the National Gallery in London. Unchanged for years and years. You do need quite a lot of time to see everything as you are constantly surrounded by tourists which can make fully enjoying it a bit limited. My advice is to bring some headphones to block out the excessive noise.

Home to pieces from the masters, the National Gallery is a must-see in London. The pace is huge, so navigating to specific paintings can be a challenge. Luckily, there are always members of staff walking around who are willing to point you in the right direction.

So much to see. Presented to emphasise the work. See where Q met Bond! Used often as a film location inside and out. Educational add-ons worth using. Food at varied prices or eat nearby. Souvenirs a bit classy but worth considering. Portrait Gallery next door worth the one minute trip to the next street.

One of the few tourist places where I could actually take photos and videos, only to be reminded that there are informative dvd's on sale. This is a great collection of artworks!

First visit for some years, and everyone you turn a corner, there's another famous painting you've only seen before reproduced small in a book, or on a postcard. It's amazing to see all the real paintings.

World-famous art inside a beautiful building, this is genuinely a delight for the art buff as well as those wishing for a taster. And it's completely free! (Excluding certain temporary exhibitions.)

This place is endless with rooms and rooms filled with great art pieces. I would suggest to split your visit (if possible) and come more often since the admission is free. Definitely a place to go.

One of the best tourist attractions in London for those picture lovers. It is massive so be prepared to spend at least 3-4 hours. It is a nice place to bring friends / kids and so on. I would highly recommend this place :)

I attended 'Makers and Muses: Women in Art' yesterday which was a collaboration between the WI and The National Gallery and it was very enjoyable and enlightening because the speakers were excellent. I hope that there will be a future event on a different subject.

Make sure to take a map of the gallery with you before touring the place. You will find it for free just at the entrance.
You will see many masterpieces.

The National Gallery is one of London's many great (and free!) museums. This one has a special place in my heart because it's located in Trafalgar Square, and was one of the first places I visited when I first came to London. Inside the art is organised by period and country of origin, and there are nice descriptions near many of the pieces so you can learn a bit more about what you're seeing. The building is massive so you'll probably get lost (I have, many times!) but don't worry - you'll have plenty of beautiful things to look at and the guides are very helpful if you do feel like becoming un-lost. Come here to see the old masters and many of the "slide show" pieces you'll study in art history classes around the world.

This place is any art lover's dream. There were a lot of famous art pieces on display, especially ones that are in Art History textbooks and classes. Works from Rembrandt, Jan Van Eyck, Cezanne, Botticelli, etc. It was really cool to see the artworks I would write essays on in real life. Definitely recommended especially those that took AP Art History.

Went here for a Mental Wealth Festival that's normally based at City Lit college in high Holborn. Very busy entrance by the Sainsbury's Wing and it would be very easy to miss people your arranged to meet if you hadn't already agreed a point to congregate by. Very tall steep set of stairs to get you to the upper galleries, conference spaces and restaurant that itself is also steep in price. No simple refreshment kiosk, it's a rather pompous wait to be seated affair, not suitable for anyone with boisterous kids or unruly excitable students.

Nice gallery but you can't take photos inside :( Just plan entire day in that place and you won't regret. For me two hours was not enough! It is totally for free so when you are in London is a MUST see, no excuses!

Best of the best! A beautiful building full of beautiful things. Extremely well endowed every important painter of the Western World is represented in the National Gallery.

Entrance is free of charge. You can come here any day and enjoy your favourite artist.

The gallery is well-organised. There are no queues. Even the Leonardo and Raphael are free of hassle and you can spend long time with them.

The National Gallery and the British Museum are the most adorable treasures of London.

My gosh. Can't believe it took me so long to finally visit it. And when I did, no regrets and I need to keep coming back. The masterpieces there are world-class, text-book stuff. It was amazing to see the masterpieces I see in my textbooks hanging in the flesh on the walls.

I thoroughly enjoyed the free museum tours as well. The lady who took us was very knowledgeable and most importantly passionate about her art.

The Sainsbury Wing's attempt to harmonise the art and the architecture was inspiring as well.

I spent a day with my 4 and 5 year old. I wasn't planning to be at the Gallery longer than 2 hours, we were almost kicked out after over 4 hrs. Everyone was very helpful in finding the pictogram Katie's Picture Show and than we took part in some activities they prepared for the kids over the half term. Amazing Day!!

A wonderful collection for art lovers... and it is for free !!! A donation is suggested for visitors desiring to visit the exhibitions, but mostly to support the conservation efforts. A must visit in London.
