The mytton and mermaid was beautiful the food out standing, all staff were very helpful and friendly. A brilliant night out .

Haven't been here for about a year. Staff were lovely but the food was disappointing. Menu did not make me want to return and what we had was indifferent. I hope this review helps the management as this hotel/restaurant is in a lovely setting and used to be very good.

Afternoon tea was pleasant and enjoyable. Unfortunately only place to sit outside was by the road which is quite busy.

A great stop between Telford and Shrewsbury. Sometimes hard to justify the cost of some of their meals.

Outstanding venue and location, food was enjoyable however service was mixed and had a lengthy wait at the bar several times.

Amazing food.... All cooked to perfectionist, you need to be patient but worth while always...

Went for a wedding, unfortunately the manager and wedding planner had left the month before. The wedding was only saved by the bride and groom taking control (last thing you would want on your wedding day) wasp nests in marriage room, ran out of food and individual staff not the friendliest. If planning to use here definitely following everything up multiple times before the big and be prepared to need to take control if things go wrong.

Food wasn't the standard I would expect and the beer wasn't great either

Staff are surly, food expensive, with the worst presetation I've ever known! Certainly won't be returning, despite them giving us a refund, and the lovely, if somewhat noisey surroundings.

OK so my last visit was very disappointing, this visit was the complete opposite the food was exceptional... I've given a 4 star for inconsistencies...

Idyllic - lovely location and excellent room and staff

The standard here should be very good .. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing .. The service is generally good .. As with everywhere it depends on the staff .. We have not found it to be other than decent .. Some waiting staff r better than others .. But all are good.

Lovely food today: ribeye steak, and two different bowls of noodles: salmon and crayfish. The salmon one is described as a salad but is hot. The crayfish/chicken/nothing bowl is not described as salad but is cold. Both are very nice.

The food and service was second to none,the atmosphere as well as the surrounds, decor and furnishings are spectacular and I would highly recommend the mutton and mermaid

It's always lovely to eat in Mytton and Mermaid. I've taken my friend from Germany to experience traditional English afternoon tea. It was delicious with great selection.

It's very important to me to know that a business has responded to the covid threat correctly but in a relaxed atmosphere and this place doing it well, whilst maintaining the great food standards as always

Fantastic meal. Server was friendly and polite, covid 19 safety measures were the best we have seen felt very safe. Food was delicious. Definitely recommend the seafood cocktail starter, salmon bowl for main and the mytton mess for dessert.

the food came quick and was delicious. the cheese starter was top notch. Thw duxk main wasnt what I was expectinf but my own fault as disnt read the description.

the wifes chicken and pasta looked lovely and the portions for both were generous.

Took a while to get served at 5pm for a round of five drinks. Lovely sitting outside enjoying the sun and watching the river.

Best thing about the hotel is the breakfasts and the location. We stayed for 4 nights , 3 of which were in superior rooms and the fourth in a courtyard room. I didn't like the narrow winding stairs to the bedrooms, trying to manage a suitcase while negotiating round outward opening doors was a nightmare and with nowhere to hold onto while going round the corner was very difficult and possibly dangerous. We only ate there once in the evening as the food was poor and cold or barely warm and the service was almost as poor as any I have ever endured. The female waitress had absolutely no idea how to do her job and I would suggest if she stays then she needs to undergo extensive training to reach a minimum standard.
The most impressive staff were at reception and a waitress called Toya who was very efficient and even remembered what we drank the previous morning.

Had a great pork Sunday roast, there are lots of interesting options, so something for everyone, with a vegetarian option too.

Mutton and Mermaid is closed due to covid 19. Had an enjoyable short walk just to take a few photos,

I was at the Mutton & Mermaid meeting friends. I found staff to be very polite and attentive, and was made to feel very welcome just too have a drink. I was not eating, or staying over at the hotel.

Went Sat. 16.11.13. A La Carte menu. Crab starter was wierd and sickly. Had to wait ages for main course and when arrived cold. Spoke to Under Manager and waitress. Gave our opinion but was concerned about the health risks of eating cold food. Phoned general manager and was told o.k. to have cold food on the table. No risk. 8 diners in the A La Carte section but the Bar Menu side full and buzzing. Been going for years but can't stomach the thought now.

Went for drinks and dinner, and it was amazing. Could not give a bad word! The drinks, steak, and wine were fabulous. Completely blew away my expectations and our server Jenny was great! Even the lockdown protocol was well organized and felt very safe/clean.

Great place and always seems busy. Nice menu however sometimes portions can be a little small for main meals and other portions huge....

Food was good. Took a little longer than necessary for our drinks to arrive even though we could see them on the bar, with multiple staff members walking past it.

Didn't realise they had a undercover courtyard. At the moment we are preferring to sit outside so the s was perfect. Table service still and attentive staff. Will be going back.

First time out for a long time. Could not have been more disappointed. 5:30pm table. They had run out of the only roast options, when we had booked specifically for Christmas dinner. Had all dressed up especially so had to eat something and the food we were served were awful. Should be ashamed of the standard and delivery of service and food. Used be be really good when we lived local. Will not be going back anytime soon

Cream Tea for two. Great selection of sandwiches and cakes. Also not forgetting the scone, jam and clotted cream! Plenty of coffee too. Great service from the staff, helping to make it a special and enjoyable occasion. Thank you.

Starter really tasty; main course not worth money and steak was burnt; sticky toffee pudding lovely but more like treacle.

Ambience was made by the family attendance.
Main pub area stank of fish everywhere you sat.

Visited this place about eight years ago and loved it. On return was very disappointing . My food had to be reheated due to being cold. Would not go again

A wonderful new year's eve party. From the singer's greeting us, the lovely food, marvelous attentive staff and dancing till one.
Definitely trying to go back for next year

Went for XMAS dinner. Fantastic service and excellent food. Cannot fault the place at all.

Terrible eating experience. One meal was inedible and the Sunday roast was cold. The potatoes seemed to have been cooked hours before. The young staff were great though.

Cesar Salad big pieces of Chicken not Pan Fried Sauce Not Home Made, Chicken Had a Fish flavour a Lot of fat on my onion rings

I always find the Mytton to be a great spot . I have gone dozens of times over the last couple of years . it's one of my favourite places for a quick lunch, a long dinner or simply drinks on the stunning river lawn definetly a top restraint and venue

Popped in and had lunch on the spare of tje moment driving through. Very helpful getting us a table.

Visited for a wedding. Good service, setting and good. Reasonably priced as well.

Lovely afternoon tea, fantastic evening meal although menu limited. Breakfast service poor, felt rushed and got both orders wrong. Brought tea and coffee and had to call waiter back for milk, only for him to forget again. Poor.

I have stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world and without a doubt this is my favourite. The atmosphere is so friendly, relaxed and the staff could not be more helpful. The food is amazing! Their dirty burger is the best burger I have ever tasted and the sweet chilly coated fries are on another level. I don't normally write reviews but I can only. Hope someone reads this prior to booking. The listed building is full of character and features. There are so many little extras that take it up a level like cubes of fresh cake in the room for when you arrive and filter coffee rather than the normal instant.
If only there was a sixth star and I would tick that. An excellent stay! Now I will tuck in to my Eggs Florentine from the massive breakfast menu.

Amazing venue, we went to a wedding there, the food was great, the outside garden was undercover and lovely, it is slightly pricey on the drinks but no more then we expected very clean, friendly staff and we enjoyed the night.
