Nice hotel, good food but extremely noisy when they have parties or gatherings
We arrived to the sight of the river Severn in full flood and a fire engine sitting outside the pub. Was this a bad omen - a problem with river water in the kitchens, perhaps? In any instance, something was wrong, because we arrived well More
Rooms are way overpriced. In many rooms the showers barley work and after raising the problem numerous times the management couldn't care less. Some rooms are also very hot and noisy. All this could be forgivable if the price is right but it adds insult to injury when the price is so high.
Comfortable, spacious room, with sporadic outbreaks of artistinal breakfast.
Great food at very reasonable prices and lovely staff. Handling Covid really safely as well. Go visit as soon as you can!
Good food and atmosphere - lovely Sunday roast dinner
Went for afternoon tea. The food itself was alright, especially the scones. Service was poor. We were shown to our table, presented with the food and a pot of tea. And that was it, never spoke to any of the waiters or waitresses again! Also, to be fair, the whole place looks tired. Needs a refurb.
Overall, pretty average
Very nice place. Lovely setting and very comfortable. Staff very nice and helpful.
Very nice venue, good selection of food and drinks.
This place will always be perfect! Cosy, gorgeous food, staff attentive, ambiance great. My go to place for dates, family gatherings, work meals, romance.
Been a few times for meals, always good. Went this morning for breakfast, it was excellent and so was the service
Lovely place. Perfect for special occasion or just a meal or drinks.
Have been several times to eat and drink. Attentive staff, good quality food and a lovely setting by the river.
Great decor and very friendly staff in a lovely rural setting on the banks of the river severn. Great outdoor space for good weather.
Very historic lovely setting opposite national trust property Attingham park by the river severn.large lawned area with seating fine food and comfortable surroundings.
Went to buy a voucher as a gift. They only gave a six month use-by-date on it whereas online it was twelve months.
Christmas party.... fantastic atmosphere. Attentive staff. Good food and disco. Highly recommend a visit.
Friendly staff clean rooms good food in a lovely setting.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the starter was nice, hence the two stars. They should've devoted more of them to a party of thirty though, in order to serve us at roughly the same time.
The mushroom risotto tasted overwhelmingly of cheese, which explains how they managed to get it to the consistency of glue without cooking the rice properly. I like a bit of texture in a risotto, but that was ridiculous. Whilst it wasn't stupidly expensive, at that price I'd expect a dish at least as good as the version I make at home, or pop in the microwave after a trip to Tesco. The parmesan crisp that accompanied it could be recreated at home by scraping out the grill pan after making cheese on toast. Despite all this I was grateful for my choice when I saw the state of the vegetables that came with the lamb shank.
In fairness, the food we passed in the main restaurant looked more substantial and appetising, but then I don't suppose that it matters that we wouldn't go back once a bill of that size has been settled.
Too many tables, crammed in food and drink over priced.
Excellent meal and chef skills but very expensive. As I came from Sleaford Lincolnshire it was a treat and
We had an excellent Sunday Lunch in the Drawing Room. Everything about the lunch was lovely. The room itself looked over the River Severn to the older bridge. The staff we're attentive and not over bearing and of course the food was delicious.
Pleasant but slightly stuffy atmosphere. A little pricey but a nice destination and in grounds and a setting that is second to none
Gorgeous location, evening dining excellent, seafood cocktail - yum yum, room warm and quirky.
The nut roast was extremely sub par. Starter and desert were nice though.
Went for a wedding. Lovely set up and setting by the River Severn
Fabulous hotel, lovely location for Attingham House and gardens and a short distance from Shrewsbury.
Roast dinner was excellent with the exception that I thought the beef was a little overcooked. It was not served pink rather just cooked well. Some of the best roasties I've had outside of my own home however and the bonus that along with gracy and Yorkshire they are unlimited included in the price is great! Good atmosphere and more casual bar with tables if you don't want the "posh" experience. Service is good although at times a little unnattentive. We asked for. Our table to be wiped and it wasn't done so we had to ask a second time. Overall will definitely recommend for roast. Perhaps for more of a nice occasion. The armoury currently has the best roast imo.
food excellent staff lovely and very busy felt very safe
Reasonable place to go for Sunday lunch, normal menu not as good as it was a few years ago.
Had afternoon tea there, after fun eral couldn't recommend it enough
Lovely to be back, the staff were so welcoming and so good with the social distancing
Beautiful restaurant, fault less service & delicious food! I highly recommend coming here the staff can t make you feel more welcome they are lovely & the food is amazing. Will be returning soon thank you for a great date night!
absolutely lovely place, we booked a standard room, however when we got there they upgraded us to a small cottage free of charge. it was a very enjoyable stay for one night
Great location room average staff excellent restaurant ok
Nice place in a good setting. Food was good and staff were friendly
Wonderful wedding setting. Friendly staff and tasty food.
Great pub and restaurant with excellent customer service and food. I love the portion size, but some people can find them a bit on the large size so if you have small appetites don't order too much, but whatever you have the quality will be great.
Friendly almost a family feel, popular for weddings. A lovely historic feel but stylish. Fabulous menu, nothing is too much trouble
I phoned to clarify that dogs to stay and was originally told no, which would have been fine but then the person on the phone was overruled by someone behind them and I was told they could stay in a courtyard room. These rooms are not as More
Nice place to sit with a cuppa by the river in the summer.
Stunning food. The menu prices might look a bit high but the portion sizes more than justify it - you won t leave hungry.
Top tip: If you re wanting the 32oz tomahawk steak (to share!), I suggest skipping the starters. And lunch, frankly. Even breakfast would be ill-advised if you re not an experienced eater.
Had a great time with family having Sunday lunch. The food was good and the staff were great. It's a good location by the river too - great for a drink by the river.
Very friendly and helpful staff, the room we were using for a christening was lovely, although the doorway in seemed like a staff entrance, not elegant like the rest of the space. Food was good but not exceptional, but it was just a hot buffet. All in all a good experience.
Food was very good and staff lovely and helpful but could do with having some painting done and awful for flies had 4 around us while eating it really spoilt it.
Went there for a family lunch. Thought the menu and drinks options were really good as was the kids menu. Again the service was really good. Mine and the little ones food were really good however my partners food wasnt the best. The tempura which was one of the main elements of her dish was overcooked and quite floury.
Lovely listed building on the banks of the river seven. Great venue for a wedding. Rooms are comfy and clean, food is delicious.
Quite insistent and impatient with the ordering of drinks.
Nice quiet pint after fishing.. service was a bit slow but they had to change the barrel... good social distancing so all good..
Had a lovely afternoon cream tea with pleasant and friendly service. Would recommend and would definitely go back.
This is a beautiful riverside pub and restaurant, lovely food and a great selection of beers and other drinks.
Possibly THE best Sunday roast in Shropshire, good portion sizes, nice selection of roasts, plenty of veg and the staff are always happy to help and make your experience top notch. You can tell that the management and staff take pride in the resteraunt and want you to keep coming back for more.
Went here for afternoon tea was fantastic will definitely be going back
No interest for people in the restaurant, because they have a wedding. This was the last time that we come. The waitress was awfull, in het answers, sorry we have a wedding, you have to wait
Went as a wedding guest - my other half was a groomsman. The day was run smoothly and professionally and staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great and the location beautiful.
Pricey but still decent value for money. Place to go if you are looking for an upmarket experience of food and drink. Lovely beer garden at the front in the summer.
Ate here with family. Gorgeous property and lovely setting. But the food was super salty. Had a game pie with chips and veg and all aspects were over salted. Very dissapointed. Other members also found their food salty aswell.
Nice relaxed atmosphere, they had live music on outside which made for perfect evening
Was in much need of some good food late one evening passing through shrewsbury and boy did we get it. We arrived late and was lucky enough to be seated in the bar area, all staff were very keen to cater for us despite it being late and near closing time. We both decided to order the pie of the day. As you can imagine, we werent expecting the best of what the chef had to offer. Maybe a dimmed down reheated version of the original. I couldent be more wrong. We recieved two giant pies a side of beautiful hand cooked chips...lets not forget the veg- Unfortunaley this was the last to be eaten given the portion size was reminiscent of the pies that dandy (beano) used to eat.
We sat, we ate, we smiled. Thanks again for the wonderfull meal.
Had a lovely cold pinot in the conservatory. Really good Covid precautions
Beautiful hotel. Staff are very friendly. Can't wait to return!
Great place for a drink and food. Great surroundings to enjoy a good menu and a good selection of wines and ales.
Great, friendly, lovely modern menus, perhaps more vegan options will be on offer soon. But lovey staff.
Very good food. And amazingly friendly staff. Would definitely recommend to a friend
Excellent food. They do a great old fashioned cream tea. Lovely to sit outside during the summer and enjoy the views.
Service good. Food good although had run out of 2 of 5 desserts. A bit expensive for what it was
Went for afternoon tea with the wife, we had 3 tears of sandwiches and cakes, very nice but not a pot of tea!
Ate here on three different occassions, on the first the place was full of flies which dived on to our plates. On the second occassion food that should have been hot was cold and yesterday I was served luke warm coffee in a cup that had a black crack from its lip to base and my friend was expected to use a cup that she had used two hours previously! Leaving the building to the car park; which has gigantic water filled potholes we almost had an accident because there is an eletric lead across the door way on TOP of the mat. A real trip hazard. I could not recommend the Myton and Mermaid to anyone.
I stayed here for business. Stayed in a single room, was quite a cosy room and facilities like the shower despite showing their age worked effectively. Perfectly pleasant and friendly staff. Only had breakfast which was great. Perfect eggs Benedict!
Amazing food, really good staff. They made a mistake with our order and couldn't have been more apologetic. Highly recommend
