This place is affordable and wonderfully unique! It's a great place for large parties too. IMHP, don't bring the picky eaters here. I did and they ended up "picking" at the paella. =( One of the best things about this place is that you have so many other options to do/see after your meal!! What a treat!

I came to see my favorite poet perform. This is an old theater with quaint visual features and old timey decor. It had a small stage and a convenient bar area. It was kind of dirty however and in need of maintenance. Anywhere you stepped the floor was very sticky and areas of the worn out carpet were covered in duct tape. There was only standing room and lacks any kind of AC or proper ventilation. It quickly became uncomfortably hot and humid inside the venue. The female attendant inside the restroom was very sweet and polite and quickly anticipated everybody's needs. She mantained the area clean even as the restroom line became overwhelming. I enjoyed the performance very much but I was very relieved to be leaving this venue.

One of my favorite concert venues. Not really a bad spot in the house to stand or see a show, open air rooftop is great if you need a break. Staff are sometimes rude but that seems to be the case at most venues.

Cool

The Fonda is a great mid-size venue in Hollywood. It's a block away from the train station, there's plenty of parking around, lots of good dinner options before shows... It's truly an easy place to navigate. The sound is really great, whether you're on the floor or balcony. You can easily maneuver yourself into a good sight line and it's super fun to dance on the dance floor. The rooftop is a rarity for any venue in Los Angeles, and it's certainly rare for Hollywood. You'll find good views from that rooftop, and they also project the show up there as well as the sound from the concert so if you need a break from the crowds, it's a nice place to get away. This is what makes it my favorite venue in L.A. Many others provide an outdoor space, but normally you're in an alley or somewhere more dodgy - but not here! There's never too long of a line at the bars either, now that I think about it. Or the restrooms - there are some on each floor! As far as the music goes, I've seen so many good acts here - Sofi Tukker, Metallica, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Thom Yorke, Soulwax, Charlotte Gainsbourg - and that's just in the last year alone. Coming up I'm excited to see Rostam and Phoenix! Not only all this but the Hollywood history of the building is really cool. I personally love the outrageous Bosch wallpaper. Give the history a Google!

The Fonda Theatre was an awesome place to go to see a concert by a pretty cool band. The venue itself is a little smaller, leading to that intimate feel you won't find in any stadium-style arena. Getting that close to the artists makes for a much better experience in my opinion. I was in the standing room on the floor, which was great, but there are also balcony seats overhead if you'd prefer to be seated during the performance. The foyer is a little dim and the bathrooms aren't extremely clearly marked, but they're just in the side of the foyer. The bar is also close to all the action, if that's your thing. Parking is easy to find and nearby to the theatre.

Great sight lines, ample nearby parking, good sight lines, and a rooftop bar make this one of the best venues in LA. Not to mention good food is available nearby or at the cafe located inside.

This theater holds small concerts with different vibes. It's young, hippy and comfy, I went here for Tiffany Young concert, a member of SNSD Korean music band. I like the care free vibe here with not too big or too small standing area for the audiences, good lighting good sound. The bar area offers alcohols, handy to grab and come back to the concert. Parking is expensive but unavoidable since this is LA downtown.

Came here to see Azealia Banks. She was late, low energy, low budget, basic and wack. But this place is sooooo gorgeous!! I left Midway through her set and just started wandering around upstairs. I love this place.

Came here for trivia night recently and it was pretty fun. The chicken wings are really tasty, and you can't beat the 31 cent happy hour price!

On a Friday night there's usually a line out the door, a cover, and the place turns into a club. Not such a fan of the club.

Only one or two venues in the city are better than the Fonda. Downstairs is top close and personal. Upstairs is ok shop check your tickets. They ate very strict since the Tom Petty debacle she the fire marshals shut down the show because everyone was downstairs. They gave people a chance to go upstairs but no one did and that was the end of the show.

The venue is cozy and intimate. Entrances and exits are well planned out. Security is even kind enough to hold unallowed items during show. However parking isn t necessarily ideal, I was charged over twenty dollars for the night. Other than that I had a great time watching my fav artists perform.
These were taken at a Cuco concert, there s the man himself and another pic of the opening band Los Retros.

Fantastic intimate venue! You'll see a bar when you enter but PRO TIP, keep walking. Everyone stops at the first bar they see and the bar on the stage side is way empty. Way more kept than I thought (being in the heart of Hollywood) 5 stars. (Disclaimer - I didn't not visit the restrooms during my visit)
