The Morton Arboretum is a beautiful location filled with information about nature. They have signs posted under the plants to tell you what they are. There is a maze to go through that has plenty of fun facts along the way. There is a lovely pond there filled with tadpoles that you are allowed to pick up. It is very kid friendly, and they have a sale on Wednesdays.
Have driven by this place visiting family for years, and never stopped. Fell in love with the goat statues the Arboretum is housing and had to go. Went in the fall, loved the giants, and the whole place. I will definitely be back.
So beautiful here. So peaceful. Nice place to explore nature and take a walk
We have a membership here and my kids really enjoy the kids area.
Lovely arboretum. Went for the Thomas Dambo Troll Hunting exhibit and was wowed by not only the trolls, but the surroundings as well. Beautiful grounds, some especially spectacular trees. Great wood chip paths and signage. The app is an added bonus giving adventures to follow beyond the troll hunting. Wish this were my local Arboretum!
Great time finding the trolls. Not what I expected, but very cool.
Normally an enjoyable time to experience nature and a lot of trees via walking paths. When Morton puts on an event like illumination, it's amazing and worth the wait to get tickets.
Be prepared to get your excercise!! Walking , biking or driving. Nice scenery!! Get the yearly pass it's cheaper. We are still missing seeing one troll, we must be doing something wrong..lol
What a beautiful place! My husband and I used to go there for walks before having our son I always thought it was so romantic and now that we have our son I love this place even more! They have so much to do for kids too. And their beautiful children s garden that has something different every time we visit... It s never boring! It is always so much fun!
Pouring rain for illumination and still had a blast!!!
There are a number of large wooden trolls throughout the park. Visiting each one makes the hike much more interesting
So much great stuff.... try branching outside the children's garden for just as much fun!
Was 78 degrees and sunny at the Arboretum today. Beautiful and very green. I live in the desert in New Mexico so this was a real treat! Highly recommend you visit the Morton Arboretum!
Very pricey for entry. Would be worth it to get membership.
A wonderful pkace to get ouf and enjoy a walj among the trees. Hosts a lot of interesting and unique events year round.
So the Arboretum is worth a visit. There are great areas for kids, and the arboretum itself is beautiful. There are lots of well kept walking trails and a surprisingly reasonably price cafeteria. Consider a membership b/c it actually gets you into Botanic Gardens too, as well as a few others.
Went here for Christmas lights. It was nice to come here in winter and during it's off season. Can spend hours walking around the massive property.
An oasis in the suburbs...today I walked, drove and sat on a bench enjoying God's beauty surrounding me.
I loved visiting this arboretum! The grounds were so beautiful and peaceful. My husband and I both wished we would have brought our bikes so we could have seen more before we left for lunch.
I went early in the morning with my husband and there were no lines or anything to enter. We saw a lot of cars when we drove in, but most of them were there for a wedding. Walking around, we saw very few cars and just a few people. However, the longer we were there, the more people we saw. I think if you go before noon, you won't have to worry about the long line or cars like another reviewer spoke of.
As for the price, I bought my tickets through Groupon when they were about half the price. Otherwise I'm not sure if I would have paid that much to go in when there is another park right next to it that I'm pretty sure is free. I bet they will do another Groupon sometime though!
Had a great time wandering the trails. Qell marked, only a little muddy this time of year. The Troll Hunt was a fun addition to our day. Only downside was the admission price - $10 for guest seemed a little high to me.
Absolutely love riding bikes at the Arboretum, great for hiking as well!
Nice place to go for a walk and explore nature. Pricy admission rates if you don't have an annual membership.
Such a beautiful place. Pick the weather carefully to visit. You can feel one with nature. To enjoy fully male sure you take your car on the trail, park where you want explore, thus way you can cover the place in the best way, especially if you get tiers walking. :)
Beautiful scenery, easy to get to, lots to see and do.
Huge place. Great for photography and just unwinding
I love the Morton Arboretum. I proposed to my now fiance there and the scenery was perfect :) only thing to watch out for is the dog day events. Because of the traffic, it took us over an hour waiting in line to get to the ticket booth. Once we got into the park, the trees were wonderful and the troll exhibits were awesome!
Great for outdoor adventures with the kids. Summertime picnics are always a hit.
Fun day. Finding all the trolls was a nice activity. Plus all the walking paths are good. (Just a reminder, bring bug spray. You are walking through the woods.)
Have been here as a guest and shot a wedding here. Great time. Beautiful grounds. Perfect for your fam!
I have been wanting to get here for years. I've driven past it several times and loved all the beautiful flowers at the entrance and wanted to see what more lied beyond the gates.
Today my mom really wanted to get out of the house and see this place, so we went. This place is advertised as though there are acres upon acres of botanical gardens (the photos on their website give the same impression). In actuality, there are more flowers at the entrance than you will see once you enter. There is a small "garden" area when you first enter which consists mainly of hostas and various species of evergreen. It's kind of cool and makes a nice first impression.
Beyond the garden area, the trails begin. Based upon the website and advertising, the logical assumption was that these trails eventually would lead to different gardens however that is not the case. The trails loop around forever, are poorly marked, very few of the signs offer "you are here" type navigation and we actually did get lost. The trails wind through an endless sea of poison ivy and trees with no signage - really nothing that you won't see for free at Herrick or Danada. For the longest time we were looking for the "visitor center" that they kept advertising assuming that you'd be able to purchase water there but the visitor center was literally some benches and porta potties. Not even a water fountain. No information kiosk, no first aid station, not any of the things implied by the phrase "visitors center." And of course the main entrance has no demarcation to indicate that there will be no opportunity to refill water bottles, purchase beverages/snacks, etc. We both became dehydrated on these trails trying to find the main entrance of what is essentially privately owned forest preserve. I suppose that would be all fine and dandy if they advertised this as such. The actual public forest preserves have water fountains but this place doesn't? I now get that it's essentially hiking on private property, but a heads up would have been nice. There are literally no employees patrolling the grounds so if you did pass out from dehydration or become injured you'd basically be screwed.
I can honestly say that this is the most pissed off I've been about spending $14 per person in a long time.
Fantastic arboretum, but utterly spoiled by the fact they let cars drive through it. Why would you want to experience such great wildlife and plants inside a air-conditioned car?? There is an explorer bus that can take you around if you have mobility issues. They need to ditch the cars!
They have alot of exhibits very interesting have been a few times and the gardens are beautiful
Illumination was nice. My first complaint was that it was way too expensive to get it. $26 an adult. The path was also too short. I finished walking in about 20-30 minutes.
This place has the most beautiful christmas light display I have ever seen. I don't know exactly when it starts, sometime before christmas & lasts till the new year, I also know they stagger the amount of people allowed each night so it's not so terribly crowded so it is enjoyable for ever one it really is a must see. I believe they charge for admission, but since I was a guest I dont know how much, but what ever the charge it is truely worth every penny. If u like christmas lights u will love the humongus display.
I have had a membership for years. I come here to relax.
We went during winter & still pretty! Loved the Trolls!! Want to go back in summer when everything in bloom!
A world class arboretum on1,700 acres in Lisle. Illinois. Check out their website for the many events that they put on, especially their Illumination event Nov16-Jan1, 2019.
Great way to soak up the outdoors in the middle of the burbs. I especially liked finding the trolls during the summer art installation. Bring bug spray and good walking shoes!
This place is huge and awesome. I recommend the troll hunt and the maze quests! Had a blast with my family!
Went here for a school trip!! It's a very Beautiful place in my opinion, and I LOVE the nature and flowers here. When we went, the only thing was that it was hot and we couldn't have our drinks out with us..they had to be in a bag. It's fun for family, school and other trips! I took some good pictures(again my opinion that the pictures are 'good') and it's just a very unique place!
Fun place for all ages. Great bike and running trails.
Beautiful place for walking, relaxing. Great children's area. Good restaurant inside
Beautiful Arboretum with great walks, hikes, foliage and plants from around the world. The Arboretum is mainland staff very well. We will be visited the Arboretum more often. The special events are very good as well. We spent the day today on Dog Day, I am pretty sure all the dogs had a great time.
Great place to take the family for a walk! Very beautiful in spring and fall. Lots of parking, look for special events all summer long. Great place to go and take pictures with the family.
Allot of people come here for prom, wedding, family portraits.
Definitely worth a visit, bring your camera!!
Love it in the fall! Pumpkins/jack-o-lanterns everywhere on the trails.
So fun. So peaceful!
Each time we go we find something new to explore. One of our favorite places to go.
Very pretty place... A tad pricey but a great place.
Big walking place, beautiful surroundings tons of roads going in different directions. Went to tails on trails event. My dog lived it
Very nice to drive-thru, but would love to walk the many miles of trails! Been a member for many years.
Spectacular! The beauty of nature creatively accented by the brilliance of boldly colored lights and sound. My second year in a row..... I hope to make this an annual event!
Check out "illumination" during the winter holidays. Spectacular!
We always go to the illumination during the holiday season. My daughters love the music and the bright lights. It does get packed, so go early as possible and bring cash; their hot chocolate always hits the spot. They also have fire pits for warming up and roasting marshmallows. Yummmm. We haven't visited during non holiday events, so we'll have to check them out in the spring and summer too because we always have a great time here.
