Everybody is so excited about Sleep No More. I can t say I was impressed. To me it was quite boring. I guess the major part of a theater experience for me is dialogue. Here it s all silent, so it didn t engage my senses or mind as much. To back it up, I can say that the best thing I remember was a chit chat by one of the actresses in the bar, where they talk. I really liked the way she was talking. I felt like I was part of a play, inside it. But after we left the bar, no more talking.. only movement. It was still an unusual experience, but I can t say I liked it enough.
The venue is really cool.

The set and atmosphere are surreal and well crafted, the cast was talented and dedicated, and the concept was certainly unique. Unfortunately, there are entirely too many audience members per showing to truly enjoy the experience, many of them tourists and super fans ready to shove and trample for the chance to get a 'one on one'. It felt more like a competition than an experience, as groups of 30 or so people swarmed each scene, chasing actors up and down stairs in hordes, hovering over you as you read letters and making it hard in general to lose yourself to the experience. I hear multiple viewings give you a better overall understanding, but I barely got to see any of the scenes on my first viewing, just the back of heads and interlinked arms. A smaller crowd or better crowd control would have made this a five star experience.

A completely special experience !!! I've seen most of the performances that I'd like, but it should be called this performance, but it was amazing.
The performance is not watching, but being together !!! The audience looks different as they move, and even a friend who goes with them has a completely different experience !! Although the content of Mbex itself is not bright, it feels dark, but it seems to express various thoughts inside human beings. The person wearing the mask to give a mask is an audience, and the person who is not is an actor. The stage is the whole hotel. The audience does not stay in one place, but experiences various things through the entire hotel. As much as I go around, I experience and experience different experiences. It is expected that you will experience something completely new next time. but!! You must have physical strength, and you must eat and go to the evening ~ You run around a lot and climb the stairs a lot !!! I wasn't sitting ... I wasn't there for three hours
You will have a tremendous experience !!!

Sleep no more ... * sigh *

Sleep no more ... * sigh *

I have the thrill that gets carried away just thinking about it ... The blood pressure rising, the pink rising on the cheeks ...

How to describe Sleep no more? A chill running through your body ... Your adrenaline rushing up ... And your legs activating when your brain hasn't even chosen which direction to go ...

This active theatrical experience is absolutely out of time and space, and totally unique.
You have never experienced this!

If I were to keep a single live performance in the world, it would be this one. From Broadway to Vegas, from Opera Boulevard to Hollywood Boulevard, Sleep no more remains at the top of the ranking for me.
I read somewhere that this show was worth having an AR in New York; after experiencing it, i tend to agree with the author of this sentence.

A word of advice: Go see Sleep no More with friends, but live this experience alone.
You will have plenty of time to share your adventures with your friends around an absinthe or a good cocktail when you have regained the use of speech.

Welcome to the play in which you are the hero.

Beautiful and eccentric hotel. You don't spend a night in this hotel, you go to events : Sleep no more (very original and experimental theater play : worth a try) / brunches, dinner with live jazz music, or parties (Halloween parties for ex)

First of all, I don't like this type of activity, I gave it a chance, walked around for 15 minutes and I got out of there as quick as I could. You can have a lot more fun for 80$/person in NYC. I would not recommend at all.

Here's what you need to know:

Here's what you need to know:
- This spot is located on the roof of the Sleep No More building
- It's a partially covered rooftop with ceiling fans, ivy woven in throughout the fixtures, and thoughtful touches all around
- Cocktails are expensive, clocking in around $14-$17/drink
- They've got a nice little menu of pizzas and snacks to munch on
- The move is wine. Bottles and carafes are fairly priced and will last you longer than the cocktails

Sleep no more is great. Do not attend the lost supper.
For starters: have seen sleep no more four times. Went to many of the cinescape events at the mckittrick. Have done queen of the night and seen nearly all of third rail projects. This was an awful show that was woefully overpriced. The first 35 minutes are spent standing doing almost nothing. Dinner had one good dance routine followed by an onslaught of random jokes. Appetizer consisted of four small shrimp followed by an entre of meat pie--ground beef covered in mashed potatoes.

The night was filled with the loud voices of performers yelling for your attention. Acts consisted of 50s and 60s show tunes. Cocktalis were horrible shooters.

At $356 for two tickets...this is one of the biggest ripoff nyc has to offer.

The best show in Manhattan. Better than anything you will see on Broadway. Expensive, but well worth the lucid-dream-like state you will find yourself in for the three and a half hours of the show.

Sleep No More is one of the most amazing experiences you can do in NYC!
It is based on Macbeth, but it was hard for me to guess who is who, as the actors do not speak (except for random shouts or mumbling here and there).
I went with friends, and even though we went in different directions and had different experiences, comparing them after the show was really nice. Only after we talked I understood how this can be based on Macbeth.
I do recommend you to follow the actors! They are just amazing and this is the only way to actually enjoy the show.

I don't want to spoil the show any longer, but I do want to warn you that there are some explicit scenes in there which has blood (fake, of course) and full nudity. I got sprayed by some of this fake blood...
Also, come with comfortable shoes. you're going to walk a lot and move from floor to floor all the time.

And one last recommendation - try to interact with the actors. If they catch you or hold your hand - follow them and do what they ask you to do!

Fun experience at Sleep No More. Really amazing acting, choreography, and set. Beautifully done and every time you go you see something new.

I don't recommend buying the book they try to sell you at the end. They claim it explains the things that might have confused you as you ran around, and that it is full of detailed pictures. It's not. It's full of blurry pictures and unhelpful information. It's more of a glorified show program.

Sleep No More was not my cup of tea overall although the sets and choreography were very well done. It was challenging to see what was going on a lot of the time since the audience is very aggressive about following their characters. It felt like I was being buillied by a gaggle of geese due to the birdlike masks the audience wears.

I felt like much of the character interactions I saw were combative. I don't have to pay to see that in NYC. I live here.

Heard so much hype about Sleep No More. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed. Not in the show, but rather in the amount of people that kept pushing me and blocking me from seeing what was going on. They also kept surrounding the actors/actresses so closely. Could barely see anything.

I would suggest they do smaller group sizes. But the parts I Did See were amazing. These people are very talented!

The best show of any kind I've seen in New York, period. The only time I've felt my life was truly changed by a show. It's an innovative and moving experience, and I fear I'm addicted... at $100+ per ticket, it's not quite feasible to go every week, but I wish I could.

Truly a unique experience. Never before have I see...

Truly a unique experience. Never before have I seen dozens of people chase nothing in a lemming like stampede during a failed attempt to see part of what they paid for.

What this experience amounted to for me, was chasing after performers as part of a small mob. It was like the performers were celebrities and the audience was the paparazzi. It got frustrating quickly, watching the performers silently interact with each, separate, and quickly go their own way. Emphasis on the "quickly". You're faced with a choice each time too: who do you follow to figure out what is going on? Spoiler alert: it doesn't matter who you follow, you're never going to figure out what s going on.

So you make your futile choice and try to keep pace as the performer makes a dash for their next spot like it's a race no one told you about. But you're not the only one trying to keep pace. Usually you'll find yourself as part of a crowd of a dozen+ people also trying to keep pace. Sometimes In tight corridors that are practically single file, where someone needs to stand flat against the wall for you to get past them.

This inevitably leads to some pushing and shoving. The first time I partook of this rat race, I was towards the back of the pack and the actor entered a staircase. When I made it to the stairway door, half the crowd had gone downstairs, and half had gone upstairs. Which way was I supposed to go?

Browsing the positive reviews , I've seen the line "You're not supposed to see and understand everything! It's an experience!" Well, Sleep No More itself disagrees, and they make that clear when it s all over and you re leaving.

When you're leaving they're trying to sell everyone books by saying "Are you confused and overwhelmed as to what you just saw?! Do you want to understand what was going on? Do you want to know the reason why you all had to wear masks?! Just buy this book! Its all explained inside!"

No, I'm not joking. They were selling those books while everyone was lining up at coat check. It was a fairly thick book.

That is basically an admission of failure as I see it. Admitting a failure to tell a coherant story and have the audience understand what they just saw. There's another admission of failure though, that I saw as even worse. Ask yourself, when you go to a traditional stage play, how many people leave early, in the fourth, third, or even second act - to hang out in the bar? Not many, right? When I finally gave up on Sleep No More and returned to the bar early, it was already full of other people who had bailed out before me. They even have singers and a band on hand to keep people entertained at the bar while they wait for their friends to get out. So basically, they ve got a backup piece of entertainment ready to occupy everyone who was so bored and frustrated by what they came to see that they left early.

On my way back to the bar I witnessed something truly remarkable. I was walking down one of those cramped hallways, and it was empty. Then a couple holding hands turned a corner walking quickly, and I moved so they could pass. Behind them I could hear the stomping feet of a crowd coming, and I assumed it was another performer being followed. But it wasn't. There was maybe a dozen and a half people rushing ahead, but no cast member not wearing a mask had gone by. Apparently , the couple walking quickly created the impression they were following someone, and so others followed them. Resulting in more than a dozen people chasing after performers who weren't even there. Is this really what people have in mind when they buy tickets?

The stage is a ceremony where the audience chases the actors, and the dance and play are seen in front of them. I was also lucky to get a necklace that leads to a hint of the incident from a girl on the bow line. Easy-to-run sneakers are a must!

The Bartschland Follies is a MUST SEE. Legends on stage, incluindo miss Susanne Bartsch and the most expensive body on earth: Amanda Lepore. The show is fun and takes your breath away at times literally. Susanne s guests are just amazing! Not the place for close-minded peeps. Staff is A+.

PS: wait till the end of the show to dance with the stars and take selfies with them.

The McKittrick Hotel itself is amazing, make sure to get there 1-2 hours before the show to visit the rooftop bar/restaurant if you get a chance.

Interactive show. Sleep No More. Incredibly cool. $85. The setting is a creepy, constructed set of rooms that are meticulously decorated and interactive (touching is okay!). Actors go about their (dramatic) day while spectators (you) anonymously stalk them through five levels of a 'hotel'. (Don't neglect the lower floors! I thought they were some of the coolest.) The actors well, act, alone, in a group, or for a few audience members, 1-on-1. Every actor has their own continuous plot thread (I did not see any loops.), so there's quite a bit of repeat viewing value. It was suggested that those in groups split up and follow their own whims. It's not what I did, but I would agree. Wear comfortable shoes because you'll be on your feet the entire time going up and down stairs.

I delayed so long in seeing this show because I did not think it would be my thing. I've never seen a Shakespeare play, and only a couple of plays, in general. I have little appreciation for anything avant garde or artsy, and I dislike horror. This was cool. I would absolutely do it again.

Saw Sleep No More here. Super cool play that you are immersed within. Highly recommend following around the key actors through multiple scenes to get a feel for their perspective. Be sure to follow Macbeth by the end, and beware the Nightclub scene. Peaches from the staff is super friendly and helpful!

we had one of the craziest and most fascinating experiences. In a hotel in NYC "hotel McKittrick", an immersive theater based on Shakespeare's Macbeth is taking place. As an audience we ran around, went down and up the stairs with our faces masked, chasing characters in the sake of solving the mysterious plots we witnessed closer than ever. Highly recommend !.. loved the music and drinks in the reception.

Took my boyfriend with me to Sleep No More. We separated and each had unique and awesome experiences. I love that no two people will have a similar experience when coming here. It felt kind of like being in the middle of a choose your own adventure book. Wear comfy clothes and shoes you can run in. If you see a crowd running, maybe follow them to see what the fuss is about. But if you get bored with what they're doing, you can always wander off and take in the amazing sets they have here. And a tip: you can eat the candy in the candy shop :)

Amazing experience, totally recommend to arrive early, book the first schedule to enjoy must of the experience. It's important to move all around, across, up & down the hotel. Be as curious as you can, it's important to explore hidden places and no to have a spoiler alert, I only can tell you to "try to find the unique and personal experiences" . The only con- there is a loooot of people, would be better if the attendance was reduced.

Great and unique theatre experience. Fantastic atm...

Great and unique theatre experience. Fantastic atmosphere. I recommend to visit this show. My only critique points are as follows: 1. 4 bucks for the wardrobe is a rip off. Just increase the ticket price accordingly and offer it for free instead as the wardrobe is compulsory anyway. It gives the impression that the show is greedy. 2. The book you can buy at the end of the show is not very informative and does not explain the plot, at least I did not find anything in it yet. As it is of low quality as well I am not sure it s worth the 20 dollars you pay for it. 3. They let in too many people, thus sometimes there are simply too many people at any given time so you cannot see the actors because there are too many (rude) spectators standing in the way. They should also have a dress code (black/dark colors only) or offer a black coat for anyone who is dressed too colorful. It destroys the atmosphere to see masked people dressed like tourist clowns. Otherwise really a great show. Would visit it again. But you need to like dancing performance, as the show is mute with no spoken words. Also dont expect to understand the plot as it is complicated and a bit confusing. They also dont provide sufficient guidance on how you should organise yourself in the show to get a better understanding of the story. But I am fine with that.

"Sleep no more" is one of the most unique experien...

"Sleep no more" is one of the most unique experiences I've had in New York -- maybe anywhere. Enjoy the phenomenal bar, or just explore the exquisitely designed sets. It's more about the environment than the performances.

About The McKittrick Hotel

The McKittrick Hotel is a unique and immersive experience that takes visitors on a journey through the world of Shakespeare's fallen hero, Macbeth. Located in New York City, this hotel is home to Punchdrunk's SLEEP NO MORE, an interactive theatrical production that has been captivating audiences since its debut in 2011.

As you step into The McKittrick Hotel, you are transported to another time and place. The hotel's decor is reminiscent of the 1930s, with vintage furniture and dimly lit corridors creating an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. Visitors are encouraged to explore the hotel at their own pace, with each room offering its own secrets and surprises.

But it's SLEEP NO MORE that truly sets The McKittrick Hotel apart from other hotels in New York City. This immersive theatrical experience takes place across five floors of the hotel, with actors performing scenes from Macbeth in various rooms throughout the building. Visitors are free to wander through these rooms as they please, following whichever character or storyline they find most compelling.

What makes SLEEP NO MORE so unique is its non-linear structure. Unlike traditional plays or musicals where there is a clear beginning, middle, and end, SLEEP NO MORE allows visitors to create their own narrative by piecing together different scenes from Macbeth as they explore the hotel. This means that no two visits to The McKittrick Hotel are ever quite the same.

Of course, all this talk of mystery and suspense might make some visitors nervous about what exactly they're getting themselves into at The McKittrick Hotel. But rest assured that safety is a top priority here - all visitors must wear masks throughout their visit (even before COVID-19 made masks mandatory!), and there are always staff members on hand should anyone need assistance.

So if you're looking for a truly unique experience during your next trip to New York City - one that will transport you back in time while also challenging your perceptions of what theater can be - then look no further than The McKittrick Hotel. With SLEEP NO MORE booking through December 30th 2021 (and likely beyond), now is the perfect time to book your stay at this one-of-a-kind destination!
