A friendly old hotel that s been (mostly) tastefully renovated. Dog friendly (although the $60 pet fee is a tough pill to swallow when they also mention a $300 fine for any disruptive noise). Underground parking for $28/night is dear but handy in a city that is otherwise a bit of a gong show to park in. Super conveniently located and just off some lovely parks.

Beautiful hotel but my only complaint was the curtains, they were very thin. My room was fully lit through the night from the streets below. This allowed me to enjoy a view of the gardens at all hours though.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Everything was bright and clean. I enjoyed the decor and the deep bath tub. The bed itself including the linen was all nice and cozy. & the little extras like the shampoo and conditioner etc weren't just the regular cheap ones you'd expect. The staff were truly friendly and the coffee in the room was good quality, too! Walking distance to everything I needed... I have no complaints, I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is lovely, clean, has excellent housekeeping, provides delicious food, is very conveniently located in the heart of Halifax, and gives a reasonably-sized room. The front desk and other hotel staff are all very pleasant.

Unfortunately, there were guests on my floor that were exceedingly noisy for long periods of time at late hours - a problem that lasted for a few days. In reaction to my noise complaint, I was disappointed to learn from front desk that they would not get involved, which I interpreted to mean that the buck stops with me in ensuring that I have made appropriate accommodations for other guests that refuse to obey hotel policy without having been warned. I thank the staff for being gracious in letting me know that there was a wedding going on, despite the likelihood of other noise complaints similar to mine.

This hotel is high on my personal stop-list for accommodation in Halifax, but I would have to recommend that earplugs be considered in the case of a situation like mine.

This hotel is super fancy, with super great service but the rooms are super tiny! I was not expecting such a tiny room. It was nevertheless very comfortable and my husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed here for 3 nights. The location is very convenient right on Spring Garden road which is where you'll find a lot of restaurants and tons of local life. It's quite the walk to the waterfront if you aren't much of a walker. To the water is completely downhill but the way back is all uphill and quite the workout. If you're going to Halifax for the waterfront I might suggest a closer hotel. The Lord Nelson is great though and I do recommend staying here. We'll definitely come back again.

Above all the positive comments I could make about this property, its location - it is the staff's courtesy, professionalism and attentiveness that has made it a fantastic and pleasurable first visit to NS.

Good staff but nothing special about the hotel facilities, especially restaurants. It is hard to find parking around it and it way too expensive to park inside the hotel's underground parking. The room is super clean and hygenically taken care of. The room furniture is not bad at all, clean and pretty new. But the room has small windows and usually overlooking the internal space in the building which is little depressing. The location is good facing a major street connecting downtown Halifax together. It's far away from the highway as you need a good 20 minutes (at least) to reach the 102 outbound.

This is a friendly, clean hotel. We stayed there twice. Good central location. Parking costs about $32C per night. It loses a star because the staff and managers could not sort out an error they made on the account, then promised to keep us informed of progress and failed to do this. Error is still outstanding.

Best lobster roll ever! Decent facilities with too notch staff. Good place for events. Rooms are properly cleaned, prices are very reasonable for a hotel of this caliber. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting Halifax. Location is ideal for sightseeing and shopping in the heart of downtown.

Hotel was nice, but found the bed to hard and that noises carried easily so didn't have a great sleep. Also didn't enjoy paying $30 for parking and $15 for wifi on top of the regular hotel charge. Likely won't be back.

I have an issue with their service. They told me they were going to call me to resolve it. That was a month ago and they never called. When I call them, the manager is "busy parking a large vehicle" or "left on vacation yesterday." Handy.

Stayed. at hotel while husband was in hospital for a lengthy time, I was well looked after and at times I was baby sitted free with the hospitality of the the hotel. Breakfast was a one of a kind buffet excellent . Lovely gardens across the street from the hotel if you have never been there take time and enjoy a weekend at the hotel and really enjoy your holiday you will not be disappointed, The ladies and gentlemen at the desk were wonderful in all ways and the doorman always called me by my name which was a bonus because even if I was a lone it felt that I was with family I would throughly recommend this hotel to everyone the rooms were lovely and clean and the ladies cleaning the rooms always a smile.

Hotel well located and charming, but a bit dated. The renovated rooms are beautiful and up to date, but the bathrooms are small and need to be renovated (the cleanliness was impeccable, but the decor very beige). There are also few services, and everything is extra. Be careful also when booking on the web: the fact of indicating that we are more than two will not prevent to reserve a room to a single bed and we will not hesitate to charge you folding beds! In short, it would rework all to justify the high price.

Very loud, was here on business not to party, it seemed that everyone else in the hotel was there to party.
Rooms have laminate floors, which make everything that much louder from adjacent rooms.
If you're traveling for business avoid this hotel.

Don't look at the following are nonsense. Because this girl is very lazy, I don t want every baby to write praise, so I imitate the praise template of the netizen. But this baby is the quality style or the price/performance ratio. The girl likes it. If it is not like, then the girl will be very angry and then this template will be It has become a variety of chattering spit, naturally it will not scatter this praise for everyone.

I stay at the lord nelson every couple of weeks for work and tried pretty much all their rooms. Beautiful entrance and mezzanine. Front desk staff are great and friendly. management doesn't answer emails. Cleaning crew is not consistent and not the best (One example: the bed sheets were not changed before I arrived and had to remove and change the dirty sheets filled with hair & food stain myself, cleaning service was gone for the night. I received a breakfast voucher to compensate). The restaurant is okay, I would suggest going elsewhere to eat.

Beautiful hotel - one of the best in the city. Recent renovations give the hotel rooms a very modern feel, but they do a great job to match the elegance of the rest of the property. Great service from the event staff and the reservations team - never a single issue.

Good looking hotel room, beautiful hotel, very friendly and great staff. Only minor complaint would be the very cold rooms, the thermostats are extremely difficult to operate and when in heat mode for some reason the air conditioner kicked in.

Haven't stayed here but I live next door and eat and drink at their pub, 'The Arms' ! Always great food, service and drinks. After the staff have gotten to know me there's a glass of wine on my table before I can plunk myself down! Perfect! Thanks

The waitress was nice yet sloppy. She served pepper and bent over table, while her blouse laid on top of my wifes food. The tuna tartar was dissapointing, the rib was fantastic, yet the steak was dry. The server was aware and my glass was never empty!

My boyfriend and I stayed here, just for one evening when we were in the city, and everything was amazing. We upgraded to a king sized room for only $20 more, and had a parking spot, which allowed in/out access of the parking garage all day. Which is perfect, because its impossible to find parking in Halifax. The breakfast was fairly good too. I loved the Aveda products in the room as well. Great location. Will definitely be back if we ever need a room in the city again.
