Lovely tour from Michelle. The renovations in the rooms look great, work on the courtyard really adds to views in many. Food was good as always, great selection of drinks in a beautiful environment

Rooms are very clean and staff is great, but I don't agree with having to pay extra to use the underground parking. Downtown Halifax has very little parking as it is and I don't agree with having to pay an extra $30 when you're paying so much to stay there already.

We just finished checking in and had some issues but Daniel was absolutely amazing and was very accommodating. The customer service we spoke with on the phone we amazing. We just walked into the room and are blown away. We spent more money at another hotel that doesn't even come close to how beautiful this hotel is. Very thankful for the staff and Daniel especially for being so great at what he does.

Lovely, high quality hotel in a great location. Our room had just been refurbished and discovered no shower curtain had been fitted when tried to shower! Resolved same day but only after chasing up twice. We also noticed a lack of safe or any hanging space for clothes.

10/10

Classic style downstairs, but modern amenities and style in the rooms.

At first I was kinda worried because the lobby looked dated. That is all part of the charm of this hotel, though. Once I got to my room, I was relieved. Just as nice as (or a bit nicer than) a Hyatt or Marriott. The staff, though, are a step above what you'd find at a chain. This is a fantastic hotel!

Absolutely delightful experience staying here. The hotel is clean and modern, yet very elegant. The rooms have the most fantastic blinds. We stayed in both the classic king room and the Parkview Suite. If it is in your financial range I highly suggest the suites. Luxury like you couldnt believe, you'll feel like a movie star. The staff is very friendly, you're in a fantastic part of the city very close walking distance to the waterfront. I had a phenomenal experience at this hotel, highly recommend it.

First time staying here, and I quiet enjoyed myself! The rooms were very cozy and intimate feeling And I really admire that while the rooms are nice and modern the grand historical nature of the hotel has been preserved. Colin at the front desk was an exceptional host and made it feel like home! The hotel even left some bubbly, chocolates and a real birthday add in the room which was a really nice touch. My only complaint is the steep overnight parking ($30/night) especially for a city like Hali where parking is free on weekends. All else aside even though we live 15 minutes away we d love to return just for a nice getaway in the city. Definitely the best hotel in the HRM !!!

Always a phenomenal stay. Very accommodating staff, clean hotel. Room got upgraded to a suite for free, staff let me get food delivered to someone else's room (and I paid of course).

Lovely old hotel where we attended an event. Very good servers, ok food and lovely setting. This hotel is very fancy, but also very historical, so there are some oddities. For example, the washrooms are one and a half floors above the lobby and the exit to the parkade is a maze. Also, if you're only there for an event, look for street parking. We were only there for less than 3 hours and it cost $16 to park underground, which is high, even for downtown Halifax. Decor is one of a kind though!

The rooms didn't have room service menus in them, went down to the front desk and they said "Oh, sorry we don't have enough to go around, we'll have one sent right up" - Not a problem.
I sit in the room for 35 minutes...after travelling 8 hours and wondering how long it takes to bring a menu upstairs. Finally, the menu comes up. I thank the guy, close the door. Sit down, open the menu and it's "The Breakfast Menu". Go downstairs, explain again, that I would like a SUPPER room service menu sent to my room... Wait another 30 minutes.
THE ROOMS ARE NICE, BUT THE STAFF MEMBERS DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE GUESTS. I would NOT come here again.
If I can't get a SUPPER menu from the front desk then I cannot even imagine what the cleaning staff are incapable of.

Fantastic hotel! We came to Halifax as part of our honeymoon trip and were put up at the Lord Nelson by a family member as a treat. When we checked in, we asked if we had a view of the Public Gardens from our room. The room they had booked in for did not overlook the gardens so they upgraded us to an executive suite at no cost so we had a view of the gardens. Amazing customer service! We woke up feeling so refreshed thanks to the amazing mattress. Recommend staying here whole heartedly!

Beautiful rooms with all the amenities you could ask for. Underground parking, room service and very quiet place to stay. My only issue is that most of the ice machines are out of order but hopefully those get fixed soon. Otherwise we had a great experience.

First night at 11pm a staff member just walked right into our room uninvited while we were all asleep and flipped on the light, this woke up the baby and the 2 other little guys and kept us up another 1.5 hrs trying to get them to go back to sleep. Ordered breakfast, it was $75 for pancakes, a waffle and eggs and bacon. Had a fly on my waffle and they also forgot an item as well, and the food was pretty cold. The walls are really thin, you hear people out in the hallway or next room quite easily. Next time I'll stay elsewhere.

Finally stayed with my family - charm to the max!

As a frequent business traveller I ve stayed at this hotel numerous times for work and conferences and was just captured by its charm and the property architecture. Resolved to come back with my family.

So we did. And it was an even more delightful stay than I could have hoped.

First, the location is so perfect. Right across the street from the beautiful and educational public gardens, an outstanding morning walk location. It s in the middle of the city with a lot of dining options next door and 13 mins walk from the waterfront.

They have this lovely patio area (see my pictures) that now has bar service! Sit, read, sip. Lovely.

Their restaurant is fantastic, food is well prepared and a great place to grab a drink. See my pictures, it s a heritage property and again, lots of charming spaces.

Biggest plus, this is a value priced stay. We saved hundreds on our stay in town.

Three big bonuses:

- Upon check in, on a busy weekend we were offered (for a very reasonable fee, not comp d) an upgrade to a suite that was just gorgeous and made our stay heaven. I want to add that this upgraded room had a Nepresso machine, my favourite machine that hotels never have. Espresso each morning made my day, every day. See my pictures.

- I sent a note ahead that this was a special trip for my kids and whatever the hotel thought of would be appreciated, and the hotel manager had a special welcome for them. It reminded me why I love this very anti-chain hotel. After many stays they did more for my kids than chains I have tens of thousands of points with.

- I had emailed asking questions of the concierge about family stuff to do in town. Since I come to town on business I don t know a lot about family friendly activities. Not only was the response prompt, it was tremendously thorough. Some of the recommendations were places that had just opened and we made memories we will not soon forget.

I m back on business in the fall, Will now request a room with that Nespresso machine!

I stayed here during a christmas party for work. it's nice, some of the rooms are nicer than others. I got a really fantastic view of the city. I would definitely give hotel four stars without a second thought.

We stayed in room 915. A lamp was broken and the USB plugs were forced inwards. When we reported it to the Front Desk, they sent a handyman right away and everything was fixed that evening when we were out for dinner. The staff is trustworthy in every aspect.

We loved the location because it's right next to Spring Gardens Rd. People think the hype is at the docks, but from here, you can access everything and, hill-wise, so much less calf work.

The Arms is elegant and they make a mean plate! I fell in love with the Millenial in room service (I had to IG the thing).

What I do like the most of Lord Nelson is its clientele. You will have from the famous to the common folks. You'll have the full designer-dressed person to the one in Old Navy Jeans with running shoes. One doesn't feel out of place!

What we didn't like, but this is specific to the specific room, the door frame of 915 is joint with the door frame of 917. We had some careless neighbors the last 2 nights and we would get woken up at early hours of the morning. I would recommend to do something with those locks because we noticed when we would close the door going out, we would pass our card again so there would be no slamming. It's just "savoir vivre".

The hotel is well located next to the Halifax gardens. For being an upscale establishment there were multiple quirks with the room and getting around the hotel itself. Not horrible but for the cost there are better accommodations nearby.

The hotel is wonderful, it definitely lives up to the boutique label. The room wasn't huge but suited our needs and staff is friendly. Complementary Wi-Fi is fine for light browsing, and there is wired 70mbit as well. Premium Wi-Fi (20mbit, $10/day) or a personal router is recommended.

One star knocked off for inaccurate information given over the phone for how to get to the hotel from the airport. We didn't make alternate travel arrangements because we were told there was a hotel airport shuttle. There was none. We ended up over an hour on local transit buses plus a hilly 20 min walk to get there. A cab from the airport would have run $70. This was a major inconvenience on a late arrival flight.

Great location, some of the staff were great while others should consider a career change. They really shouldn't be dealing with the public. Times are changing rapidly and management should try to keep up!

Location is located right in the heart of downtown Halifax. My room was a corner room with 1 king bed, amazing. Lots of space with a big couch and a desk and chair. Nice big flatscreen TV. Service was great. Very clean. Toiletries were replaced daily. Complimentary limo service weekday mornings. Very much enjoyed my stay and would return.

Excellent stay. Very good situation: a beautiful park opposite the hotel. The seafront is close, with its entertainment and museums. Excellent service, but the French language remains little practice ....
