Great location. Should have coffee in room or at least in lobby
dont remember the guy at the service desk but very helpful and cheerful. great customer service.
Reception the first night was cold and not friendly, I understand they were very busy but still. The cleaning staff was was very nice. Breakfast thought buffet still required a seating for some reason, clearly understaffed because having to Waite 20 min there were plenty of tables that could have been cleared for the next guest.
While waiting for our condo to be ready for us to move in, we're staying at the historic Lord Nelson Hotel in a suite with a wonderful view of the Public Gardens whuch are directly across the street. The hotel is meticulously maintained, the suite large and comfortable, and the staff are uniformly pleasant and helpful--indeed they couldn't be more accommodating. And everyone seems to love our English Bulldog who has been made as welcome as we have. I cannot imagine a more pleasant experience of an extended stay at a hotel as we are having at the Lord Nelson. And, if course, the central location is ideal.
It is perfectly located near everything you want to see, and within walking distance. You can't beat it.
Our booking was cancelled by The Lord Nelson Hotel. The staff made us feel that it was our travel agency that cancelled the booking then changed tbeir story to "it must have happened during a system changeover". They found us a new room but we never ever received an apology for the inconvenience, despite an email to their customer service manager. Would not recommend due to their blase attitude to an error caused by them
Stayed for a few nights, it was ok. Nothing special.
Nice building, fantastically central location, pleasant staff, rooms are nothing to write home about but aren't awful. All-in-all a solid experience.
Went into The Arms recently for dinner. Got some wonderfully cooked steak with potatoes and had the fruitiest margarita they could make for me. Absolutely fantastic food, drinks, and service. Small place though, but I would definitely recommend if you're nearby.
Absolutely beautiful. An 1900's building that has been beautifully preserved. The rooms are stunning and modern. Great stay.
Here for a conference only.. the facilities are 5 star, but the room is freezing.. making it uncomfortable
Beautiful wedding venue! The event bar was very well run and maintained, and the dinner set up was well run!
Very nice looking hotel for a conference.
Please please please fix your windows, everyone noticed the cold air coming in and the thermostat in the rooms most definitely notices it too! So, get ready for a frustrating time trying to figure out if the thermostat is messing with you or if a room can truly be both boiling and freezing at the same time. Good luck.
Just love it. Love room design, windows that I can open, there is window even in the bathroom, and I can open it and refresh the air right away, meticulously white towels. Friendly and helpful staff. Public Gardens right across the street and street is quiet despite lots of restaurants and stores located on the street just around the corner
Beautiful historic hotel in a great convenient location, with a nice lobby bar and restaurant. The staff and service at this hotel is outstanding, notably the bellmen. The rooms are updated and decor is tasteful, although the rooms could be small for more than one person. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star review is the paper thin walls - I could hear housekeeping early in the morning opening the blinds in the room next to me, and her moving the chair and other movements from that room through the walls (difficult for a light sleeper). It s also cool that they have a functioning mail drop by the elevators!
Clean and modern rooms. in close proximity to the waterfront and citadel hill.
I had an absolutely amazing time at the Lord Nelson. The hotel is newly renovated and beautiful. My room was clean and cozy. The staff were extremely friendly, especially the greeters/doormen. Plus, it is in a great location near a bunch of restaurants, five minutes from the citadel, and 10 minutes from the boardwalk. I highly recommend and would definately stay here again.
No coffee in room, tea only as they were "out". They could have made the reatraunt coffee free to make up for it but didn't. Got in at 2am, renovations with power tools on the room next to me at 0800. Did I mention no coffee?
Lovely Hotel, great location with lots of restaurant choices nearby. Very pleasant bar with good food.
Incredibly beautiful lobby. Fantastic service. Clean rooms. Great in house restaurant.
Rooms are gorgeous, and it's a great location. Would stay here again.
Perfect location and nice rooms. Personnel was very nice and attentive. Fair price and a good experience overall.
I had to stay close to the IWK children's hospital after I had surgery to remove my tonsils, so my mom and I stayed a night at this hotel. When we arrived I was dizzy from just coming out of surgery and not feeling well. I decided to start walking straight to our room, while my mom was at the front desk paying for the room. I had to take the elevator. While in the elevator I started seeing spots and everything felt like it was spinning. Once I got out of the elevator and nearly to the my room I collapsed in the hall. A young man who worked there rushed to my aid. He was scared something was seriously wrong. Once I came to He wanted to call an ambulance but I explained that I had fainted just before being released from the hospital and that the nurse sent me on my way despite how light headed I was. He went to go find my mom who was just coming up the hall to explain what had happened. Later on the young man gave my mother a get well card with a gift card for Dairy Queen to give to me so I could get ice cream. I felt absolutely terrible and if it hadn't been for his kindness my stay at the Lord Nelson Hotel would've been one of my worst nights away from home. This young fellows act of kindness has given me unforgettable memory. One I look back on with fondness. I highly recommended the Lord Nelson hotel because the staff are very friendly. The hotel is in great part of Halifax, you get to see the historical side of Halifax. It's easy to travel to and from. The rooms are nice and clean.
Bathrooms need updating. Can hear street noise from the rooms. Very comfortable beds.
Always enjoy the nelson. Feels like stepping back in time.
Pros: close proximity to downtown
Excellent costumer service
Clean
2 complimentary water bottles and Keurig expresso
Cons: Very expensive
Very small rooms
Nothing fancy for the money you pay.
Stayed in the King Suite. Loved it! Roomy and comfy. Great little kitchenette with pots & pans & all the dishes & utensils needed. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud!
Delicious brunch. The grilled tomatoes, toast and hash browns were just what I wanted. Great coffee and a polite waitress made it an overall lovely dining experience
Several hidden costs should be considered if you plan to stay here. 1. Limited wifi access or pay extra to have full wifi access. : ( 2. Parking full day is 28 canadian dollars plus 18%tax. The hotel location is great, close to many restaurants, fine food store like Pete's, commercial stores and tourist spots. In general, it is a nice place to stay.
Good experience overall. Stayed in king suite at a reasonable price. Parking is very steep ($28/night) but location is quite good.
Lovely old hotel with modern equipped rooms. Free wifi.
We have stayed at this beautiful hotel several times and everyone working there have always been very courteous, friendly and very helpful with information...We have been very pleased with the door person, receptionists, kitchen staff and all the hardworking people who look after our room.....Thank you very much.
Looks fancy but the rooms every out dated and could use some work
Very clean and comfortable environment, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent when asked for directions and main attractions!
This is where I would be staying when visiting Halifax. Can't say enough about their hospitality and accommodations. MacKenzie, the concierge, is who you want to be dealing with.
Well it is not bad. Not great either. Here are my good, bad, and ugly:
Good: Beds, linen, staff, very hot water, location
Bad: No pool, loud hallways due to ever on going maintenance and cleaning?; good luck getting any rest during the day, wierd elevator system, strange corridors leading to the mall and parking,
Ugly: Rooms are cold due to poor insulation and terrible base board heaters. The drafts from the windows will give you quite the chill. The price for what you get.
Thats all I have. Id save your money and find something different.....
Beautiful surroundings in a nice upscale part of town... near parks and historic landmarks, reasonably priced.
The parking garage to the hotel is terrible! You shouldn't have to drag suitcases up any stairs . There were hardly no electrical outlets. Lighting poor in room . It was difficult to find way out of parkade...no clear signs . The bed was very comfortable though and nice tv in the room.
Plus: Very friendly staff, a big room (exec level), nice balance between traditional and contemporary. Minus: Air conditioning quite noisy (separate units in each room). Small bathroom.
The room was okay. Getting access to parking was a hassle - had to go back into the hotel 3 times to get into the parkade.
Best oldest looking Hotel .. I give it thumb up....
This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. Great staff and great rooms. We stayed in the suites on the 6th floor and loved the cushy robes and slippers. Would definitely stay there again.
The power went out at 2 PM and never came on again. The hotel didn't contact us with the status of the power outage or contact us to ask how we were doing. We had to walk down 9 flights of stairs to ASK for a flashlight.
Their customer service is worse than any motel 6! No compensation or apology for our inconvenience whatsoever. Management needs to look somewhere else for guidance and training. We have never seen anything so disturbing in a nationaly recocognize hotel, ever. Total lack of customer service!
Disgraceful!
Great location! Rooms are a bit dated, but the bed is super nice
Our go-to place to stay when visiting Halifax. Fantastic location and wonderful staff. Would reccomend strongly.
Halifax, suit, overall not bad but far too expensive for what is received.
I enjoyed my visit there it's was comfy and peaceful the only thing I regretted was not taking my shampoo and body wash not a peppermint fan overall very lovely place to stay.
I was very disappointed with the guest services and accommodation. We areived at the hotel after booking online to find they did not have our reservation. They rook their time getting us set up into a room with not so much as a sorry. They provided us a room which did not have the amenities promised when booking and the amenities that we did have were broken. The shower head sparyed water everywhere and there was a big hole in the wall. Not impressed for a stay. Will not be returning.
Awesome facility. Amazing ambience, and elaborate decor. Great staff, service and food.
One of the nicest hotel in City,
clean and great customer service
I love it everytime we go to the Lord Nelson for an event. Great venue and great staff always make for a perfect evening.
The food and atmosphere at the Arms was great. Thoroughly enjoyed my cobb salad and fish and chips for dinner. Would recommend.
It's honestly overrated although they try really hard to make it nice with chandeliers and things like that this is the kind of place for really pretentious people that only feel satisfied when they know they spent so much money on a hotel room at the Holiday Inn could have done much better for added much cheaper price it seems like the AC in the entire building isn't working it's hot it's humid it's outdated honestly if you're looking for a nice place to stay I select the Holiday Inn however if you need to be right down town then this is a good hotel and I would suggest it for that reason but otherwise I would get a cheaper hotel that has a pool a hot tub free breakfast included and spend a couple hundred dollars unless it's much less pretentious and you'll be more comfortable
Me and my husband had a second honeymoon here the room was beautiful very clean the staff were very friendly very peaceful place beautiful finishes would definitely recommend
Hotel crew is very friendly, really good location in front of the gardens, room impecable nice amenities (aveda, nespresso, kettle)
Excellent facilities in a timeless location. Only one complaint and that is the staff outside the entrance. They always seemed disorganized. We were left waiting for cab rides which they should have been co-ordinating. Our cab driver said it s routine with them.
While it's nice to have a doorman to open the door for you, it would be nicer to have properly functioning wifi internet service.
An absolutely beautiful hotel. We use their washrooms every Gay Pride, and instead of being unfriendly or indifferent, they allow us to and embrace our presence. Because of this, we'll always highly recommend this classy place. Their washrooms are also super clean and elegant.
This place has taken on a huge responsibility of helping people in need of a roof over there head thank you so much I'm more grateful then I could ever say with words
What an amazing hotel. Clean, comfortable, and the staff is amazing.
We spent our wedding night here and the room was amazing. It was an upgraded suite, but was very spacious. We had late checkout and ordered room service in the morning and our breakfast was great. There are nespresso pods for the morning when you don t want to leave and get a coffee!
Very clean and modern hotel. Friendly front desk and very attentive to all needs.
Stayed in the petite room, which is fairly roomy despite the name. Very clean. Great location.
Service was excellent. Bed was so comfortable and the decor was something to behold. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Nice hotel with everything you need in the downtown of NS. It is surrounded by lots of shops, restaurants and fun things to do. This place is also close to Dalhousie University
Awesome location, great price, friendly staff.
We stayed in a king suite and I am pretty sure it was bigger than my apartment. The bed was so comfy I took a photo of it and will forever compare all of my future sleeps to the bed at the Lord Nelson. Nothing will ever compare.
This location is so charming and is right beside the gardens as well as downtown. It s honestly the most perfect location for a romantic getaway.
Order the chocolate strawberries and sit in bed in some cozy bathrobes and live your best life.
Beautiful, comfortable and we'll appointed hotel in Halifax. The staff were wonderful and the restaurant was excellent. This was our first time in Halifax, and we are extremely happy that we stayed here.
Beautiful hotel with some fantastic views! Room was fairly compact, but well appointed. Love the location square in the heart of downtown Halifax. The public gardens are right across the street, and the nightlife just a few blocks walk away.
Would definitely stay again next time I m down.
