It's for a different demographic than we are.......more for 25 - 50 year olds. Rooms are fine and ask for high floor away from elevators with view of Charles River. Weekends are crazy so no upgrades normally. Service is outstanding. The problem is that you enter up an escalator which makes you feel like you're in a convention hotel at a cocktail party for 35 year olds even when you come home from dinner. It's not for us and for $750/night (includes tax and convention fee) it's 2 to 3 times too expensive. Again, service is terrific as is in room dining for breakfast............but not for us.

Beautifully done! This property is spectacular with great amenities and spot-on staff. We stayed in a corner suite with awesome views of the Charles River. The spacious room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. We ate breakfast and lunch at Clink. I love the re-purposed building and its proximity to many local "things-to-do" and the highly attentive staff. We'll be back!

I am amazed at the treatment that we received from the Liberty hotel in Boston. My wife and I were planning to stay there for 2 nights since my 5 month old daughter was getting surgery right next door at Mass General hospital. We wanted to be as close as possible and unfortunately we were not able to stay. By mistake two reservations were made and thankfully one was able to be canceled. When it was time to check in to the room, my wife s debit card chip supposedly was not working(even though she had been using it the whole morning) but even then there was no effort from none of the staff to type in the card or swipe the card. The terminal was even saying swipe card like most places that i ve gone to and the chip does not, you re able to swipe or type in the card number. According to the front desk clerk there was nothing she could do, she needed a new card. There was no effort from anyone to help us. We asked for the manager and he she did not even have the dignity to come talk to us and figure something out. The clerk came back in from his office and told us that we were all set and our reservation was canceled. So, here we are in Boston away from home, emotional and extremely nervous because the baby is in surgery and we now have to find a new hotel so we can stay close to her, while she is in intensive care. It hurts that in 2019, we still have people looking us up and down because of the way we are dressed or because of the way we look. It hurts to feel like you were not wanted in a place and instead of trying to resolve an issue, they got rid of us. In 2019, in the beautiful city of Boston, so close to our home, we felt discriminated against. We have made several review attempts and they keep removing the reviews.

Absolutely amazing historical aspects mixed with modern comforts and high-end luxuries. All aspects of the hotel decor - lobby, rooms, restaurants - retain enough of the history to impart a near museum-like character while still feeling comfortable and cozy.

Losing its glam....place used to rock, now feeling tired. Just not sharp service top to bottom, workout room inadequate, air conditioning loud and blowing on my face all night, front desk apathetic. Have preferred for many years, now looking for the next "place to be". It's not the Liberty anymore.

An incredible hotel perfectly preserved with a rich history and modern accomodations. Rooms and service were impeccable. Location is great to see Boston with a red line stop outside the hotel and walking distance to parks, museums, and night life.

Interesting hotel that was actually formally a prison. Modern and clean aesthetic throughout.

Average rating comes from the front desk service and food at the bars; sadly both were a bit underwhelming. But if you're looking for a nice modern hotel near Beacon Hill, absolutely worth checking out (you don't need to dine there, right?).

The event took place in a small yard of sorts. The food smelled delicious and the drinks were good! They were a little pricey but that is to be expected. Staff and security were very friendly. Atmosphere was very nice! (It was a dog event)

It's awesome that they've kept the prison theme intact. This is a great place to book if you're in Boston for a couple nights or even just looking to do a nice staycation. Enjoy the modern rooms, comfortable bed, and relaxing bath. It's not the most conveniently located hotel in the downtown area, but it's fairly easy to grab a ride wherever you need to go. Even if you don't stay here, it's a fun spot to check out, learn about the history, and grab a drink.

Gorgeously renovated building. The architecture of the original building is stunningly beautiful. The room was very comfortable. The lobby area with the catwalks and bars are a great place to hang out and have a drink. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

The liberty is one of the coolest hotels in the area. The old converted jail feels like the most luxurious time you'll ever have "behind bars" great staff, beautiful dacor and a bustling night life.

Arrived at the hotel at 11:30pm after 7 hours of travel. Was told on arrival that not only was the room we booked was not available, but the only room available in the entire hotel was a long room. There were 3 adults. How do they expect us to sleep 3/bed? Their only available option was a rollaway bed. Additionally, the manager offered one meal voucher for breakfast. That somehow doesn t add up to a lost night in the room we reserved. The rollaway was extremely uncomfortable as most rollaways are.

Completely dissatisfied with the room we were given for the night and the service we were greeted with. Will not return.

The location was very nice. The drinks were rather expensive in my opinion but the staff at the bar was excellent. It took a while to get drinks because only 1 or 2 people were making drinks.

Top location for Boston in my opinion. Great rooms and property overall. Pricey food, drinks, and parking which is to be expected.. but they could do better and not price gouge as much in that area. Staff was great as well..

Great place to hang out and get drinks. The setup is a bit unusual because the bar is also the foyer with check-in counters. But the overall atmosphere is nice and welcoming. Both food and drinks are on the more expensive side, so the place is definitely not for those on a budget.

Do not stay here. Untrustworthy hotel that takes your money. We had a $500 gift card which we presented when we arrived. Then we gave it to them when we left. They never used it. They also charged us $26 for the honor bar that we didn't use. After many emails and calls, they still have not credited me the $526 even though they admitted fault via email and phone. Don't stay here. They will take your money and not give it back.

Very nice hotel located next to the river. Great history to it (use to be a prison) and the overall decorations were amazing. The room itself was decent size and the bathroom was big also which I personally love. Would highly recommend staying here if visiting.

Nice hotel, with plenty of old-world charm. I liked my room a lot - but had the bad luck to be just above a construction side on the road below... hence was woken up at 7am every day.

Outstandingly friendly receptionists.

Very cool hotel in Boston, well located and very central to everything you want to see and do - although a bit of a trek from Cambridge - rooms are comfortable. Dining and bar scene excellent. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful hotel deserving of luxury brand. It is an old jail which was completely overhauled while retaining some of the old brickwork. Attention to detail throughout the room including furniture, bedding, and bath. Minibar is anything but mini, fully stocked. Highly recommended, will be my go to for Boston.

The hotel is beautiful. A thoughtful reuse of the old Charles St. jail. Scampo is excellent. The various bread appetizers are delicious (the kids loved Elephant Eat Walking) and the pastas were cooked perfectly.

A very fantastic and upscale place - on weekends - it is the destination to be! Fantastic party mood and great ambience accompanied by great music and staff!

The hotel rooms are also fantastic. The fitness Center is average though - not that great

Plus I have seen the hospitality of hotel dropping since few months - nothing that takes away from hotel, but don t expect service like other luxury collection hotels

An old jail retrofitted to be a hotel, this place has a very calming atmosphere. Its modern look against the old brick and wood rafters is very cool. Drinks are too expensive, and the service wasn't great either, but overall it is a fun place to be.

Absolutely amazing hotel- gorgeous room with a beautiful view, most incredible lobby and bar, greeted with champagne upon arrival. Only downside is the gym- it's small with poor ventilation, expected something much nicer for the caliber of the hotel. Regardless will definitely stay there again!

Great building at a reasonable rate. Mostly great things to say but annoyed that my Starwood preferred guest status somehow didn't qualify me for free premium WiFi. I was under the understanding that it should have. Otherwise, loved it.
