My wife and I booked way in advance and paid a deposit and we're excited to go. We just got a call saying that they need to cancel our reservation for renovations. Nothing like this has ever happened with the hotel And the lady who called didn't really have another solution for us. She also didn't seem concerned about scheduling something new for us. We definitely won't be trying to stay here again.

Completely redone interior. The California Market (downstairs) restaurant is no longer there, but they have rebuilt the main restaurant and have carried the lunch menu over, adding some new elements.
The view is spectacular. If you want to see the beauty of the Carmel coastline, this is the place to have lunch.
The atmosphere and setting is classy bistro. Linens, crystal, and professional attentive staff. The price is equal to the surroundings.
Favorites: Fish tacos, Point Reyes Salad, Halibut sandwich.
By dinnertime, the menu has changed and the view is gone with the sunset. Dinner service must be managed by a different team. It tends towards snobbish, and prices are north of reasonable.

Room is spacious with a gorgeous view overlooking the ocean. Wood fire place adds a nice touch, and they restock the wood in your room for you. Property is quiet and peaceful, great for relaxing. Only complaint is construction on highway 1 causing huge backups when trying to go into Carmel

The view is amazing. You look one way, you see the ocean. Look the other way and you can look at the beautiful mountain the hotel is built on. Unfortunately the fog can cover up the views of both the mountain and the ocean but when the fog clears, wow.

Stayed in room 513, it's best described as an obstructed ocean view. Bed was super comfortable and the room was really nicely appointed. The pool is pretty small and the bathrooms for the pool are hard to find. Wifi is really strong which is required because there is limited cell reception. The valet is complimentary but the allow self parking as well. Be warned that there is currently construction on PCH between the hotel and Carmel which can add 45 minutes to your trip into town during peak traffic.

They need a few more stars to give places like the Hyatt Highlands Inn the throne they deserve. From the service, to the amazing views and ridiculous rooms, this is luxury. This is what excellence along the California Coast looks and feels like. Food is good, not amazing but good. The beds are top notch, the views are spectacular, you can walk to Point Lobos Park, it's a really special place and worth the hype.

Poor customer service, thin walls and street noise drowns out the sound of waves. They use a confusing coupon system to provide the included breakfast, the staff don't know how it works, and lack the skill to explain it to the guests.

The ocean views from this hotel are spectacular. The rooms are well appointed and I love the wood burning fireplaces in each room. This place truly feels like an old world lodge tucked back into the hills.

Overall a great resort experience. The grounds are beautiful with the ocean views and restaurant and lounge overlooking the water. The Oceanview townhouse was nice for the view and the deep jetted tub, but the rest of the space was a little compact for the price. Furnishings were a little dated and had some scuff marks, but the rooms were cozy with the fire place and comfortable couch and furniture.

The service gets 5 stars, thanks to Brent. However, The building is fairly old but, the decor is decent so I am ok with that, however, we wanted to get away from the fire smoke only to be breathing it here because other units using wood burning fireplaces in the rooms. The smoke permeated even though we did not use the fireplace and had to keep the windows sealed up. We definitely enjoyed the towns, the people and the food and of course the beaches. I would give 5 stars if the buildings and units were nicer.

Nice ocean views, and cozy cottages with real fireplaces. The only problem is that the place smells of burnt wood all the time. Given the relatively high room rate, it is surprising and disappointing that a breakfast is not included. The bed was clean, as well as the carpet. The bathroom was clean but was rather too simple, and the toilet seat was very low. There is no sink in the bathroom itself, which is inconvenient. The parking and cottage locating process was rather a maze, and needed a map to determine where both could be. They had mugs instead of paper cups for the coffee machine, so I couldn't take the coffee cup with me checking out early in the morning.

The view from the room was about the only thing I enjoyed while staying here and even that was obstructed by the construction that was being done right outside my balcony. The walls and the ceiling are ridiculously paper thin, every step from the guest above sounded like stomping. Numerous times I thought someone was going to fall through the ceiling on top of me. The bathrooms are outdated and there was a creepy window that made you think someone was going to crawl through. Oh and goodluck finding parking near your room, you will have what feels like a mile hike with your luggage. The room was not worth the rate and I will not stay here again nor will I ever recommend it.

Nice place, the staff are the courteous. I felt this hotel was over-priced for what we got. Although they do have complimentary valet and wi-fi so there are not a lot of extra costs.

We came here for a wedding and it was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. The views were amazing in the venue where the wedding was held was so nice and the food was incredible. The only unfortunate part was the restrooms were out of service so we had to go up the stairs if we needed to use the restroom I felt that was a big inconvenience especially for something so special it took a lot of time to go up use the restroom and join back in the festivities

Our Beautiful Wedding was held here!

My husband and I were married here on January 30th. We could not have been happier with everything the wedding coordinator/banquet manager did for us. The location was beautiful, but what was even more important is the way that we were treated, by the TEAM at hotel. Every bride considering a wedding in this area should look at this venue. The accommodations made for me before the wedding were wonderful. A place to get dressed and enjoy the day fully. At every turn, there was Shelley Rodriguez helping us make everything perfect. The bartenders were accommodating, the dinner was delicious the wait staff was quick and friendly and we felt like we didn't have to lift a finger. We just enjoyed! Friends and family told us numerous times it was THE BEST WEDDING EVER!! Thank you sooooo much TEAM OF THE HYATT HIGHLANDS! We had a blast!

This is a gorgeous vacation hotel. You can get a stunning ocean view directly from the room, even from the bath tub. The hotel is also closed to Carmel, a nice small town, which got a lot of choices of restaurants, shops and bakeries.

Great location and worth the visit. Higher prices but food was decent. Service was slow, the kind of service you get when the restaurant relies on its location for business. For some reason the iced tea was terrible, like it came from a cheap source or was old. Not acceptable for the price of lunch. Exchanged it with a soda and was happy.

One of my worst experiences at any restaurant. Requested a table before I came for a special occasion. They ended up thinking someone else was me and sat them there instead.
The drinks we ordered tasted like they came from a premix.
Then the seal of the deal was my lobster risotto being served half frozen. Honestly no idea how this place is even considered good. I've never had this happen to me at any restaurant in my life before.

The location and views from this resort is amazing. Although our waiter during dinner was too busy speaking to a French couple rather than attending to his tables. Other than that... the place is perfect!

The rooms have amazing views of the Big Sur coast, very romantic experience. It's outside of Carmel so it's super quiet. You can borrow one of the hotel's mountain bikes and explore the area.

Stayed here during our honeymoon in July and had a fantastic time! From the moment we stepped out of our vehicle, we were greeted by welcoming staff and everything was a smooth process. We had an amazing view from our Ocean View King Room. It is quite something and the binoculars that they provide were definitely nice to haves. Food at the Pacific Edge Restaurant was great, though expensive. Other than that, the hotel is near the town of Carmel by the Sea which is an amazing little seaside town, and is near enough to Monterey. The hotel also had a deal with the Monterey aquarium which we took advantage of. The pool and jacuzzi on the grounds were wonderful.

The one snafu during the trip was that we found a staple in the bread pudding we ordered for dessert one evening. We had already almost finished the dessert when I discovered it. Management came fairly quickly and apologized but there was no offer for any compensation of any sort which is a bit disappointing considering I almost bit into a staple.

Other than that we had a wonderful stay and hope to be back at some point.

It used to be one of my favorite places to stay, but not anymore. The staff are not nice and don't even know what time is the check out. Instead of 12pm they are trying to kick you out at 10am. The dining is completely closed, coffee creamer only 2 and no matches for the fireplace. So they just don't provide good service like it used to be. I paid almost $500 per night and its not worth it! Not going to come back.

Came here to celebrate our babymoon but had an awful experience. If you can, stay at the Carmel Valley Ranch instead it's 10 times better in every aspect. Definitely not a Category 7 hotel, more like a Category 2 or 3, zero amenities and dated.
- Interior decor in the rooms look like a 2* inn, very old and smells funny. Walls super thin, could hear everything.
- Bad wifi and bad celular connection
- The staff at Carmel Highlands is not so friendly and there's not enough of them.
- There are not enough hand sanitizers around the property vs. Carmel Valley Ranch had them throughout everywhere
- There's ZERO food, not a single restaurant is open at the property and room service is not available due to COVID. Carmel Valley Ranch had all their restaurants open, plus room service and following safe protocols.
- NO towels at the pool, had to call someone to refill
- The only good thing about this property is the view to the ocean which you can mostly enjoy from the restaurants but they are closed. Rooms have some ocean views, but with a short drive you can get much a much better scenery. Views are beautiful everywhere in Carmel, so no need to stay here for the views.

Definitely not coming back again and I do not recommend it.

Very nice hotel. Horizons bi-level suite is like a 1-bedroom townhome. Very roomy. Styling is older - you can be kind and say retro-70s chic. Service was solid, and the restaurant serves good food, but the prices are high. Not much walkable from the hotel, so plan to drive if you are staying more than 1 night.

Negatives include thin walls and balconies that are close to each other, so you are relying on having well behaved neighbors. Pricing is high, but not as high as it would be if it was a pristine modern build - not for one of the most expensive coastlines anyway. Would stay again.

Visited friends who were staying in a timeshare accommodation. Spacious, well laid out and comfortable room, well kept grounds, and beautiful views of the ocean. Staff was very friendly, and abundant, eager to help.

DO NOT BUY HERE!

DO NOT BUY HERE!
Or any Hyatt Timeshare properties.. Forget about the salesman lying to you. The supervisor in reservations will lie to you, and they record the calls, I don't .So you can't hold them liable.

And not only are the timeshare dues 3 Times higher here than anywhere else .Because I own two other properties, and know 1st hand..They're a little bit more than three times actually. They just screwed me out of 1230 points which is about a dollar point so $1,200 $1,300. Because my timeshare dues are about $1,300 for 1300 points every OTHER year..

I just booked a week here, and you can go online and book the same week for $1,150.

Timeshare dues never stop until you die .Don't get suckered into buying one of these Hyatt timeshares, when you can just go online and buy a week, whenever you want, and not have to deal with being bold-faced lied too.

Buy everyone involved here. And when you go to check in at your timeshare, they try to sucker you in for another presentation..

I bought this timeshare to relieve stress, and all it's done is added stress .. I've used it once , this will be my second time using it, and I couldn't even break even selling it. It's a lose win situation...... I lose they win. And I'm in to win-win. So two thumbs down for Hyatt Resdence Club. They should be ashamed of themselves!!!

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!! DONT BUY HERE!!!

Was served by the rudest waitress. After being stuck on the highway in terrible traffic with a screaming, hungry child and a pregnant Aunt, we decided to pull over and grab a bite to eat and rest for a bit at the first place we saw. We ordered an entree and some food from the kids menu, but when one of our party ordered just a bowl of soup, the waitress rudely asked, "is that all your going to order?" and shook her head while writing down the order. Another one of our party again ordered a bowl of soup, and again was asked, "is that all your going to order?" Then this time the waitress rolled her eyes and shakes her head while writing down the order. This lady is going to lose it. Then when I order a salad, she lets out a humph and shakes her head. In an attempt to be civil I ask her, "is that okay if I just order a salad?" And she replies, "This is a restaurant. We serve food here. You can go sit in the lounge if that's all your going to eat." Shocked, I replied, "I thought we just ordered food. If you please I'd like to see your manager and I would like a different waiter." She then replied, "Look. Lets just get through this." Which is what everyone wants to hear when at a restaurant... I insisted that we see the manager and she finally brought him over. I had never been treated so poorly in my life. I was embarrassed in front of my visiting family and we would have walked out right then and there if we didn't have a pregnant woman and hungry child with us. The two stars are for the efforts of the manager and waiter who took over.

Amazing views. Laveet and Shania were amazing with helping us sort out our room. Ocean views and a fireplace was absolutely amazing. Restaurant is closed and I see other hotels are still serving breakfast outside so that was disappointing but overall great stay!

I enjoyed the facility. There are wood piles scattered around the grounds for use in the fireplace each hotel room is equipped with, there are outdoor spas with space for 2. Rooms have a king sized bed, a small kitchenette, couch with pull out bed, a bathroom with shower, toilet and a large square bathtub. Fog was thick and constant for our stay, the view was limited and the temperature was a constant 60F in the day.
