A place to celebrate your hedonism. The restaurant greets you with a commanding view of the ocean from large widows and even the tables against the inner wall on the top seating area have a view, though that is not where you want to be if you are coming in to drop 500+ bucks on dinner. Excellent wine selection and assistance in finding the right bottle paired with good food and decadent desserts. Get here early for a window seat, it will be worth it.

We ve been coming here since 2006. They are always so welcoming and helpful. We locked ourselves out of our room at night-actually the lock malfunctioned- and Amanda the night manager was up in a flash with engineering to get the job done right! Made us feel appreciated!

You ll love this place, so highly recommend.

First, I must say that the location and view of the coast from this hotel is 10 stars. This is the most beautiful area of California I have ever visited. Second, the hotel is ok. We booked a small bungalow room, when we arrived it was dark. The layout of the property isn t really conducive for lugging around luggage. The bellhop was more than happy to help but literally had to carry or luggage up several stairs and hilly walkways- a rolling cart just wouldn t work. Our room seemed a tad dated, and there were lots of little spiders and ants in our bathroom. We were too tired from the days travel to request a diff room. Not many amenities as far as dining, refreshments, or vending available after 8p. We planned on venturing to a breakfast spot early the next morning, as we we t to bed starved. However the following morning we were able to peak the view from the resturant onsite, and it was phenomenal so we opted from breakfast with a view. We are so glad we did too, our breakfast was delicious, a little pricey, but the portions were huge! Upon checking out we Ms ruined the bathroom pests and our breakfast was comp d, so that was nice. We d def stay again- this is just such a beautiful, quaint area of the coast!

First impression was the reviews and the views/pictures. After staying here... a different story. The road noise from the nearby highway is extremely loud, the staff only luke warm, the cleaning staff broke our expensive items, and there is no parking other than valet.

This is a very nice hotel that is set up more like a resort. The rooms are a little spread out & have private entrances. Our room was very spacious! The views are amazing from the ocean view rooms (if it isn't too foggy). Customer service is top notch without being intrusive. They have turn down service, valet parking, rides to/from your room in golf carts when requested, outdoor pool & hot tub (but check the weather bc it is chilly there even in the summer). Be sure to eat a meal at the restaurant - the views are amazing!!

The ONLY thing this place has going for it is its spectacular location: on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

Otherwise, poor service. Rooms are small and vintage 60's..

Definitely not a "fine hotel"...

My husband and I went to grab lunch at the highlands inn and absolutely loved it. The space itself was beautiful and our table by the window had an incredible view. Plus, the service was excellent and the food was good. Would absolutely recommend.

Great atmosphere and certainly a class act amongst the beautiful and engaging hotels and spas in Northern California just off the coast and cliffs. Spectacular sweeping views of the ocean while you're being served a cocktail, appetizers or an entree. You'll also have the opportunity to listen music from Dino and his wonderful singing and piano playing. If you're visiting this area you must visit to appreciate.

We stayed a long weekend at this hotel. It's a beautiful property with an amazing view and location. The service has been great. The restaurant views from the huge windows feel like they put you right out over the ocean. Carmel is a picture perfect town just fifteen minutes north. Point Lobos Nature Reserve is one of our favorites and is just five minutes away, a great way to spend the day hiking. You even have the iconic Bixby Creek Bridge fifteen minutes south. We love the sunsets, the blue and tourquiose waters, and watching the waves crash up and down the rocky coastline. The Hyatt Carmel Highlands is the perfect location to enjoy this special part of the California coastline.

We went there for a brunch for Christmas eve... the place was really nice and the view was wonderful... the ambience for Christmas was really nice there were two beautiful fireplaces with a big Xmas tree in the middle with cosy sofas which you could sit and relax and enjoy the ocean view... about the brunch I should say that it was also good and delicious but it was not as well as the ambience. The menu consisted of sea food and also meat and vegetables.
The 5 star goes more for the beautiful place and the view.

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Pacific's Edge Restaurant. The view from the restaurant is incredible! We got very lucky to get a window table having arrived right after 6 pm, and the view alone was worth everything. We saw a pod of sea creatures (dolphins? Porpoises? Whales? Who knows, but amazing!) The wine list was extensive and ranged from moderately priced delicious wine to very expensive delicious wine--we went with an Estancia Meritage and it was exceptional. We were both very satisfied with our server, Tim, and the food was perfect. All in all, an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone!

Hyatt Carmel Highlands is a difficult place to review. On one hand the area is beautiful and the view, weather permitting, is gorgeous from the restaurant. The design of the main building and rooms are tastefully done. The only problem is the rooms seem like they used to be an old motel. If you get a bottom room you'll hear footsteps from the people above. While you have an ocean view the view doesn't compare to the main lodge. Another note if you end up there during a freak heat wave like we did be prepared that the main building does not have air conditioning. We ended up not eating at all there since it was so hot.

Nice views. But this is an older hotel with no insulation between floors. You hear everything thar is going on above you. Especially little kids running through the room. I had to physically pound on the ceiling to make it stop. Too much road noise also. Hwy 1 is right out the window. Nice view from resteraunt and good breakfast. But I would not stay there again. Dont waste your money. For how much it costs you can do a lot better with the many hotels in the area.

Very nice 5 star caliber suites! 3 miles away from downtown Carmel, & many beaches & State Parks within minutes of the property. Great views from our 1 bedroom suite, that had a full kitchen, & a spa bathtub ! Highly recommend the Highlands Resort.

Beautiful condos perched on a hillside above the PCH overlooking the Pacific Coast near Big Sur. Great facility - great Hall with fireplaces and floor to ceiling windows with a fantastic view, comfortable seating and a great bar for sunsets. World class restaurant as well just beyond bar. Well worth a stay.

Lovely, breathtaking views, very upscale Interiors, wonderful accommodating staff...We love dining in their California Market at Pacific's Edge for brunch. Also, the sunsets with cocktails on the deck, is a fav pastime too! Definitely a romantic get away!!

Great view on the balcony! There is also a fireplace with wood provided for us to burn. The rooms are also arrange in a villa and easy to find! Service was quick however there was some dirty supplys in the room.

This place is simply magical it's so beautiful and breathtaking is hard to put into words how amazing the scenery and grounds are, the staff is superb second to none, they made me and my significant other feel like a million dollars I highly recommend staying at the Highlands inn and I will definitely be back again soon can't say enough good things about the place, there's so much to do and see it was very hard to leave lol

What an amazing and special place. Cannot wait to come back and visit. This is about 15 minutes just south of Carmel, above the highway and overlooking the water. It is not technically on the water, but it has fabulous views and the rooms are extremely spacious. We were treated like royalty. Additionally, we were able to borrow bikes for the day and bring them down to the 17 mile drive for a great day of biking and enjoying the scenery. Cannot recommend this place more highly.

Great views, luxurious accommodations. The 3 evening cocktails and 2 appetizers were high quality and high price (~$100). More surprising was that the breakfast (eaten in the restaurant not the room) were NOT exorbitantly priced, on par with what we usually pay back home (~$45-50 for 2). (though we live in an expensive town so that's all relative I expect).

One of my favorite places on west coast. Weather, views, beach and Carmel very close for lunch and dinner. Individual rooms with kitchen, fireplace is perfect with ocean views. Makes me want to stay there forever.
