Can be extremely expensive most of

Can be extremely expensive most of
the time. It is generally overpriced
for what you get & far more than most
other Hyatts. A splurge of this level
should be done in Hawaii, Bora Bora,
& such. The little cabins are cute, but
rather rustic. The cabins are also on a
steep hill so they have to park the car
with a valet. Since it is a hassle to get the
car or to get anything out of it, you wind
up staying on the grounds....which can
become old quickly. Having a fireplace
is nice & this place is more for newlyweds
who rather not fly to a fuller service hotel.
Not much here besides the cabins. It is good
to stay here if you are planning a dinner at their
marvelous restaurant. They do have a time-share
marketing deal which is far cheaper, but you do
not get to stay in a cabin. If you want a place
where you can do more & pay much less, the
Monterey Hyatt nearby, will do fine.

Landmark property - one of the best hotels and Hyatts I've ever been to. Location is gorgeous, but fog is an ever present reality. Wood burning fireplaces in the rooms, great staff and high end restaurant for special occasions.

My sister, 2 friends and I stayed here in January, 2017 and we had a great time. The views were amazing and we were close to Carmel and Monteray so there was plenty to do. We had breakfast and lunch in the restaurant which was good and the service was excellent. We thought the dinners were a little to pricey for us though. We woke up to the electric being out the first day but they provided us with coffee at the main lobby. We needed extra towels and bath robes and they provided them expediently. The rooms were cleaned daily and it was comfortable for all of us. My sister had a time share so the cost of the room was not an issue.

We were married here 20yrs ago and came back for our anniversary to stay and remience. The rooms have remained the same, still with awe inspiring views, no change in the decor. What has drastically changed is the restaurant (Pacific Edge)and the food. So disappointed with our dinner, definitely not as creative, tasty as it was, it is not worth the price point. There are too many other choices for dinning in Carmel and surrounding area that are better. The staff and service all weekend has been friendly, no complaints there.

Stunning views and excellent restaurant. The rooms are spacious but, like the rest of the hotel, could use some updating. Highway 1 passes right in front of grounds, so don't expect a 'secluded' feel. It's still a great place to stay, recommended.

I had my wedding here a few weeks ago and this hotel went above and beyond my expectations. Coming from Chicago, I was not able to see any of it or meet any of the staff in person before my big day. Arriving there, everything was organized and the staff was incredibly helpful and made us feel completely comfortable. From the friendly greeting when we arrived, to the amazing room we stayed, to the couples massage the next day, we were blown away. The dinner after our ceremony was beautiful and the wait staff were incredible at their jobs. They genuinely made us feel special and wanted to do everything they could to make our experience a great one. It was a day and night to remember. I would recommend this hotel and the restaurants inside to anyone!

The views were spectacular. I stayed there for 2-nights June 24th.26th 2020. There wasn't any maid-service and the property's manager was rude, over the phone. None of their Jacuzzis was open, yet the Tickle Pink Inn had a nice one open. Too much inconsistency.

Yet another Hyatt property that plays games with their point rewards bookings. Just tried to book 2 nights in June. All standard rooms are available via cash, but not are available for rewards points

Only been here for a day, but mostly I would say that the place lives off its location. Beautiful view! The fireplace in your room is "the thing". Nobody mentions that the smoke from everyone else's chimney blows into your open windows and onto your deck making it unpleasant. Wobbly deck furniture, fraying carpet, and black grout in the bathroom make you question its 4 star rating.
Service in the restaurant was so slow it was more like being ignored. It forced us to become "those people" which we hate.
But, the reception staff (Michael) was warm and welcoming and even acknowledged my birthday, which was unexpected and lovely. Too bad the experience went down from there. Would not recommend.

worst telephone customer service. It's farmed out to another company. When you call for changing a reservation they send you to a customer service company. There is no direct phone number to the front desk and it's nearly impossible to get ahold of a human being. We were put on hold for over an hour. How can a company operate like that? Sure they have a good location, but the customer service is the worst on the planet. Hate this place so much!!! The company has no intention of repairing their poor image. Your company really needs to review your customer service department. If it really is farmed out, then you should make changes to the way they handle calls. What is so hard about getting a human being on the phone? Even an answering machine so that someone can call us back!!

On a Friday, called at 4pm to make a reservation for their restaurant. Got a voicemail system saying "Leave a message for a reservation"... ok, not a 4 star hotel experience so far, but I left a message requesting a reservation for my wife and myself.

Arrived 10 min early, pulled into valet parking. There were 5 cars parked in the valet area. Waited 5 min, no attendant. Drove to their "public parking" which was not conveniently located. Wife and I walked back to the restaurant.

Greeted their host and asked about our reservation and was told that they are VERY busy. Restaurant was clearly not busy, as I am from the city and this crummy little hotel is definitely not busy by anyone's standards.

I asked if they received my voicemail (!) and was told that they had only checked "6 of the 12 voicemails" (already laughing at them because 12 voicemails before the beginning of service is busy like a Dennys, not a fine dining restaurant...). I asked what time they started answering their phone, as I called at least 3 hours before and twice after. No answer.

Between their non-service, no-show valet, and probably serving food to match, I would recommend you visit a real restaurant in Carmel, like Il Fornaio, which was able to accommodate immediately, had impeccable service, and generally seemed like they knew how to run a restaurant.

I wouldn't patronize this restaurant if the meal was free. You've been warned.

Beautiful view from most rooms. No AC because a good temperature is expected... When its too cold, the heater takes for ever. Hyatt page says you have a private balcony - it is private, but anyone next to you/ across from you, can hear/see

I stayed at the Hyatt Carmel Highlands last week. ...

I stayed at the Hyatt Carmel Highlands last week. Initially I was given a king room with a fire place and ocean view but when I checked in I was told my reservation had been upgraded. I was pleased but a little suspicious as to how I was able to get upgraded because the hotel was fully booked. I asked as to why but was simply told it was available. I had to wait a while to enter the room because it had been cleaned but waiting for inspection, which wasn t a big deal at the time.

Once I entered the upgraded suite, it sort of made sense because the room had a musty/ moldy smell, so I figured whomever had the room probably declined it due to the smell and unfortunately probably received the room I was suppose to occupy. I was really tired from the drive so I opened windows to air it out and tried to make the best of it because I knew there weren t any other rooms available. However, it struck me that the room was supposedly clean and inspected before I was allowed to enter. The smell was very strong so the cleaners and persons inspecting the rooms must wear masks to have approved that room for occupancy.

It only got worse because the suite is located under the lodge and to my dismay a cleaning crew is assigned to clean the lodge at 1:00 am, so I listened to the sound of furniture being moved around very early in the morning rather than sleeping or being lulled to sleep by peaceful ocean sounds.

Later that morning I spoke with the front desk and told them how badly the room smelled and requested earplugs because at that time I did not know it was the cleaning crew making all the noise directly above the suite at 1 am.

I spent the entire day out of the room and left the windows open so some of the smell had dissipated by the time I returned that afternoon. I was tired from not getting much sleep due to the noise at 1 am that morning so I retired early only to be woken again by furniture being moved around again in the early am.

I dressed and checked out after speaking with management. She was nice enough but instead of taking responsibility, she said they aren t able to please everyone. This wasn t a matter of not being able to do something about the inconvenience. Consider not having the cleaning crew clean over a very expensive room early in the morning and make sure the rooms don t smell musty and moldy.

The manager stated she could not do much because I had booked through Costco travel but she did take a small amount off the bill. I did let her know that I would be contacting Costco as to how my stay went.

Costco of course was very gracious and tried to have the Hyatt Carmel Highlands take more responsibility for the poor room experience but to no avail.

The suite I was assigned was 105, so if anyone gets assigned that suite, you should check out the smell and make sure the cleaners are not cleaning in the early morning hours.

Top notch service, very comfortable. Hotel sits on a wall overlooking the beach. Rooms are very nice and well appointed. Service quick, reliable and friendly. Restaurant in the main building has wide elegant entryway leasing to dining area surrounded by large picture windows overlooking the beach and ocean. The restaurant also has outdoor seating with the same great views that can be heated if necessary. They also have a fireplace. Cozy seating available.

Beautiful hotel. 100 year old building but well maintained. My room has ocean view. It has a large balcony with beautiful view of trees and ocean. Rooms are spread out but you can park very close to your room. It's a pricey hotel but it's a very nice hotel at a beautiful location.

My wife and I had our wedding here this past November and it was beyond perfect. The view & venue are absolutely breathtaking! That is why we were so interested in it in the first place...then we met Sheena, the wedding coordinator, and that's what really solidified the choice. She went above and beyond putting both my wife and I's stress at ease. The cocktail hour and dinner was absolutely delicious. Top notch meal that I wish we could enjoy everyday. Our guests and ourselves couldn't stop talking about it...and we still don't! The wedding was perfect from the very start to finish! We will be back for our anniversary! Thank you to every at the Hyatt Highlands for such a magical day.

We were lucky enough to have a table right next to the window. Even on a cloudy day, the view is stunning, perhaps even more atmospheric. The food was fabulous and coupled with excellent service. Having just proposed 30 minutes or so before, I couldn't think of a better way to finish the evening :-) fab! A special evening at a place which will now always be special to us.

Way too expensive for the experience. Way too much road noise. Very little sound proofing efforts between rooms.
Shower head leaking. No cellular coverage and many details left unattended.

Still love Hyatt! Just not this one. Will not return.

We stayed one night in an ocean view room. The rooms are cozy and the fireplace and views are fantastic. We ate breakfast at the restaurant, which had great food and reasonable prices. The view from the restaurant for breakfast was unbeatable. Very relaxing for a quick overnight.

My husband and I got married here in February. Amazing location with beautiful views of the coast. Great upkeep of the property. The chef, Benoit, is incredibly nice and made exceptional food. Sheena, the day of coordinator, was unbelievable and truly went the extra mile. The week of the wedding a huge storm hit Carmel and knocked the power out and Sheena took care of everything to ensure our day remained perfect and dreamlike. The entire staff truly made our wedding day the best day. The hotel rooms themselves are also amazing with remarkable views. We definitely plan on staying there again in the future!
