The Herrington Inn & Spa Review

We attended a wedding at this hotel and it was a great time! The staff was extremely friendly the venue was small but adequate for the size of the party. The hotel is beautiful both inside and outside. Rooms were clean and looked great! The hotel lobby and bar area were very pretty as well. It lies in the heart of downtown Geneva so there are plenty of stores to walk to as well as bars. Highly recommended.

The most beautiful views, romantic rooms, quiet. It was a relaxing weekend. We stayed 3 days, there was so much to do near by we will definitely return!

This is a beautiful venue I looked at for my wedding. Still deciding on where I want to have it but the Herrington is definitely somewhere I want to have it. The people are wonderful there too!

The rooms look old (except the bathrooms), but they were very clean. We loved the cookies and milk that they bring as a snack when they accommodate the bedroom to rest. The service was very humble. Breakfast could be a thousand times better. There was only cereal, boiled eggs, and some breads. All in all, we had a relaxed night.

Attended my friend's wedding. Wow, very beautiful inside l. Lots of historic building. I was very impressed with this awesome venue.

This place was great, the rooms were clean, there was a fireplace, a hotbtub, a shower, and a queen bed. The mini bar was well stocked and loved the cookies and milk delivered to the room.

Combination of food quality, perfect service and dining atmosphere that is hard to beat in the St. Charles/Geneva area. This place would thrive in the city or burbs. It's expensive ($150 for 2 entrees, wine, app and desert) but worth it for a couple times a year celebration dinner. They provided a free chef's welcome bite of food when we sat down and did the same with a bite sized free desert. Outside temp was around 10 degrees but the dining room was warm, that was big for my wife who often finds restaurants a bit on the cool side. I will return.

Gem of Geneva...food, rooms, location...we were married here and nothing disappointed.

OK breakfast -- not many selections. Cute and quaint decor with amazing bathrooms. Central to restaurants shops bars.

It is so sad how rundown this establishment has become. Outdated overcrowded lobby and rooms. We had stayed at the Herrington seven times previously and it slowly got worse and worse. They cater to one time visitors only. If you are not having a wedding there they could care less about you. After making reservations two plus months in advance they switched our room and gave no reason. This room was not decorated, was across the hall from the spa desk, next to an elevator and right across from the public access doors. Obviously they are now catering to a way lesser clientele as we were awake until three a.m. listening to drunk people yell and scream two rooms down. These same people took the chairs off the "patio" of our room, crashing into the glass doors while doing so. The blinds did not work so after being up all night sunlight woke us up very early. After I complained the staff did not care and pretended I was given an upgrade. Uh,no. Then the director of hospitality for the Shodeen group did not bother to call me. He emailed me and admitted he was defensive. He laughably offered me a free night if I paid for one. I would never stay here again!! This place is an outdated, sad establishment. If I could give it negative stars I would.

Loved it! We stayed here for our 2 night honeymoon. It is a quiet, unique inn that is geared more towards a couples getaway. We enjoyed spending time in the lobby bar. Even with COVID measures (i.e. the cookies and milk weren't delivered to your room- you had to pick them up at the front desk, or the couples massage room wasn't available), we still really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again!

Surprised my wife with a weekend getaway here for our 9th wedding anniversary. Room was wonderful as was our view from our first floor patio (river view). Would definitely come back and recommend anyone looking for a quiet romantic getaway. Staff was friendly and prices were reasonable. Only taking one star off because we were charged for an add on that I thought I had cancelled before check in, however it was partially my fault because we did accept it when delivered without sending back. Otherwise great experience!

I absolutely love this hotel! It is by far my favorite hotel I have ever stayed at, The milk and cookies were a wonderful surprise, the rooms were spacious and very luxurious, the bathrooms were very gorgeous and the decor was outstanding. There was a mirror tv in the room that was just amazing and the bedding was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed. All in all I was not disappointed by one thing at the hotel and would highly recommend it.

Great staff , fantastic room, nice in suite whirlpool. Meal at Atwaters was delicious. Jackson the bellman treated us like we owned the hotel.
Looking forward to our next stay

The hotel is overall nice, and enjoyed the breakfast. So much appreciated! Had a great time and appreciated the reduced price.

My boyfriend surprised me with a stay here and we had an excellent time! Probably one of the nicest, cleanliest hotel we've stayed at in a long time. Impeccable service, impressive suite...would highly recommend a stay here!

The atmosphere and location are nice and the bathroom is very nice but it costs a lot and room is average. Also the included breakfast was very disappointing. No coffee no plates no forks no salt etc. And we went for breakfast at 8am before the rush.

Stayed here after my friends wedding, she recommended it to the guests, and it is a fantastic place to stay, pricey but you do get what you pay for our room had a great view and a comfortable bed, everything was very clean and very cozy like at a fancy French chalet. They had cookies and milk for us at bedtime which just added to a great night.

The Herrington is special to our family! We love having dinner here and anytime we have been able to stay, we have felt like we were treated like royalty. Such a quaint place!

Very nice setting. Hotel is showing s bit of wear. But very nice still. Staff needs to focus. They cannot pass information on it return phone calls. This is based on two separate visits.

We went for two nights for our anniversary. The atmosphere was very welcoming and cozy. The European style design throughout the hotel blew me away. The river premier room was very romantic and private for during our anniversary. They even sent chocolate strawberries and cookies after an unbelievable dinner at their restaurant. I would definitely visit here again and try the spa for a couples massage. My only complaint is that the mini fridge was not working had to get tons of ice to keep our drinks cold.

Only went as far as the lobby (as I was attending a wedding on the terrace) but everything inside and out was beautiful.

Beautifully appointed, traditional style rooms all with fireplaces. Some rooms have breathtaking views of the river. Turn down service is amazing with milk and cookies. The bath tubs are huge and luxurious! Definitely a wonderful place to stay in Geneva, with restaurants nearby.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The ambience was beautiful and our room was stunning. We had a great balcony view on the river! Such a unique and memorable place to stay.

Wow. I don t even know how to adequately describe this jewel of an Inn. We were here for one night for a work meeting... but I could have easily moved In. The staff was absolutely flawless in customer service, every employee I encountered. The common areas are beautifully adorned and you feel like you have stepped back in time.

I was in room 221... and was beyond impressed. With a four post king bed and rich wood furniture my room was gorgeous with a balcony directly overlooking the river. The bathroom was gorgeous with a big whirlpool sunken tub. They have a bath menu and I indulged in a basket being delivered to my room that included salts, oil, scrub, etc. Comfy robes and slippers in the closet... a full mini bar and local snacks were nice extras. The best part was having cold milk and a chocolate chip cookie in my room delivered during turn down service.

I absolutely loved this 24 hour experience in Geneva and at the Herrington!

Herrington was a great place to stay. Right in the heart of Geneva closed to restaurants, cafes and bars.
The rooms are a great size and the bathroom is spacious.
The bed was super comfy and the turn down service with cookies and milk was a nice touch.
Definitely stay here again.

The Herrington Inn is simply fantastic. The rooms, the spa, the restaurant, everything is incredible. If you're spending the night, the bath services are perfect. Great ending to the night with some milk and cookies included!

My girlfriend and I stayed here after a work party and our room was broken into because the lock on the patio door was broken. Her purse was stolen and she was lucky to not have been assaulted. After almost a month of runaround and reassurance from the hotel that we would be reimbursed all we got was a call saying that this was "our fault" for leaving the door open.

HORRIBLE management. Disrespectful and inexcusable.

A great place to celebrate with someone you love, AND they make fresh chocolate chip cookies too! I also recommend their espresso.

Nice and relaxing but in need of some renovations. Accomodations are pretty run down and outdated. Service was wonderful!

This is hand down the best place I have ever stayed. The food was incredible, and the service was above and beyond. The rooms were clean, comfortable and we loved the fire place. You have bath robes and slippers and an amazing bath tub and shower to sit back and relax. The spa was incredible and we were able to book appointments at the last minute which was very helpful. The breakfast was light, but this is mainly because of the pandemic and the restrictions. We thought the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the room service was quick. The place was not very busy which made us feel very safe. There were masks required for both staff and guests, and there is a beautiful courtyard with a private gazebo that you can reserve. The views of the river were magical, and there were so many places nearby to walk to for all your needs. A nature walk along the river with parks and benches, or a stroll up the road to nearby local stores and restaurants. Check in and out was very easy, and parking was available and free. I think my favorite part was the spa services offered and the delicious food we ordered from room service. There are so many perks to this gem, and I hope you get to enjoy them to the fullest once this pandemic is over. In the meantime, if you are in need of a place to rest your head, and safely order an amazing meal in a comfortable room with all the amenities you need and more- well, then you have just found the perfect place for you. I would not suggest this for a place if you are traveling with small children, but the space is accessible if you need it.

Great hotel. Fireplace, high ceilings, view from the balcony is amazing. But jacuzzi didn t work and one morning we didn t have hot water but they fixed it quickly.

Service was great! Amazing view. Intimate setting. The pork was great. The steak was overcooked, ordered medium and it had no pink inside. I would sent it back if we weren't on a time crunch.

Intimate, romantic place to celebrate an anniversary, birthday or event of any kind. Not a detail overlooked and extra special amenities abound. Impeccable service, dining is divine and heavenly spa services. Absolutely love this Inn!

I went for a wedding (not mine). The grounds around the outdoor wedding were landscaped beautifully with a nice view of the river. The food during the reception was very good. Great experience overall.

I understand with COVID and the crazy times we are in, but for the price it was unacceptable. They didn't offer any room service, bed turn down, roses petals, etc. The area itself is worth the hike and bike ride but it was my wife's birthday and I was expecting so much more from reviews. I won't be coming back, sorry.

Beautiful room for a newly wedded couple like us. Rooms a bit on high end. Decor was beautiful but some things needed updating as the room looked a bit dated now. View from the room in the balcony was to die for. Chimney added romance to our visit and must say it was well placed. Breakfast was very poor, no toast, omelette was available, the staff didn t up-sell breakfast in the main dining room for which we would happily paid extra for and only realised on the last day that the hotel serve the breakfast there too. A bit of mix up when we got charged extra for our romance package and when we double checked it and came back the receptionist said that she would happily refund it for us for which we will eagerly wait for today. Restaurant menu and room service menu was limited. Over all good visit but could improve.

If you have the opportunity to have your wedding at Herrington Inn, take it! Everything about it is fantastic! The "Pumphouse" reception room is simply decorated and beautiful with an upstairs loft area overlooking the main floor, and windows looking over a lovely and spacious patio with a view of the river! The food options they provide are so excellent that it was very hard for us to narrow down our choices at our tasting, which they set up to be a fantastic experience. The inn itself is elegant and beautiful, and our honeymoon suite was absolutely incredible.

We were particularly impressed with the entire staff, both the reception and the hotel. They made us and all of our guests feel like royalty every time we were there. Deanne and Rose, the event coordinators for Herrington, were especially a pleasure to work with from the very start. They made the entire planning process so easy and stress-free for us, and they personally tended to us throughout the reception to take care of anything we needed!

We are blown away by the level of quality service we received at Herrington and we've heard numerous times from our guests at how wonderful the evening was and how much fun everyone had. We are forever grateful to the Herrington Inn Staff for being such a huge part of making our special day truly wonderful. We can't wait to come back and visit! Thank you!

Very clean and has a old world feeling. Very high class

Hotel is getting a new roof. Woke up this morning to the sound of hammers and construction workers outside my window. Nowhere on their website did it disclose this or yesterday when I checked in did anyone say anything. Epic fail.

It was a very professional atmosphere. We had a work dinner and the setting was beautiful. Every one of their staff was very professional. The dinner was nice but maybe the only downside as I come here every year and this year wasn't what I was used to. Still good though!
