The Herrington Inn and Geneva Illinois are my happy place. The hotel is amazing and the city is fantastic! I've been here 4 times and I love it more each visit!

Beautiful inn in a quaint, charming small town. My wife was never a big fan of the state of Illinois, but the Herrington Inn & Spa and the town of Geneva changed her mind! Incredibly relaxing, and the cookies and milk at night were a superb touch. The restaurant at the inn was great, and there are tons of other great restaurants as well a a great river stroll within walking distance. The staff were amazing. We will most definitely be back!
Just a great place to stay. Rooms are comfortable. Staff is professional and friendly. I really enjoyed the Sunday Brunch. I would recommend this Inn to anyone.
The Herrington Inn gets it.
Very good omelets, atmosphere and staff are wonderful!
This is a first rate hotel. The rooms are first class. Get a room on the Fox river side which is on the east side of the hotel.
It is very close to downtown Geneva. There is a free continental breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a spa in the hotel. There is also a first class restaurant in the hotel for fine dining. Recommended.
Beautiful rooms, wonderful service, all around great place!
We celebrated our one year anniversary here and we were sooo happy with our experience. The rooms were nice and clean. The property is gorgeous! The service was wonderful. We didn t know what to expect during these Covid times but we felt very safe the entire time. I can t say enough good things about the Herrington Inn. We plan on coming here every year for our anniversary!
One of the nicest boutique hotel I've been to. Fire place in every room, and cookies and milk delivered to your room every night.
Very nice room. Attentive staff. Milk and cookies are a nice touch.
Loved the restaurant!! They made my Mom's birthday an extra special Day!!
A fantastic escape from everyday life a short drive from Chicago and the Western suburbs.
We had a third floor room overlooking the Fox River and it was amazing. Incredible vaulted ceilings in our room with a nice fireplace. The large whirlpool spa tub was great - plenty of hot water and quickly filled up. We enjoyed the warm cookies at turn down as well! Mostly quiet, but you are in the downtown area so expect some street noise. My wife and I enjoyed the breakfast, it was a rather small selection but all fresh and good. We would definitely go again!
Even though the fire alarm went off at 4am. Lol. Still a top notch place and gave us a free night for the inconvenience
My visit was to send some time with family. The rooms were clean and welcoming. The staff was friendly and respectful to my requests. Besides some minor notices of shower mold things were great.
Everything is perfect. Food, area, staff. We will come back again to try dinner menu. We are French and we love quality food. This brunch was the best ever. Thank you for this beautiful lunch.
Excellent food/service. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would suggest is a little welcome package for pets. There is a courtyard for your pets to roam, but they must be on a leash. It would have been nice to have that area gated on one side so we could let him roam on his own as he is used to that at home. Other than that, I will definitely be back!
We had a room booked for my daughter's wedding day that was being held across the street. We were hoping to use the room for the pre-wedding prep. When I went to inquire about check in days before the wedding, they told me that I was unable to check in until 4:00 p.m. that day. They also told me to check that morning to see if the room would be available??? Unfortunately, that was not going to work for us and we booked elsewhere. Very sad that they wouldn't work with us.
Excellent stay as usual. Stayed in the Herrington Suite with the best jacuzzi ever. Dinner in Atwater's was lovely.
Excellent place to visit and stay overnight...great food, staff and environment.
I recently attended a bridal shower at the Harrington. The staff provide excellent service and the room and the location on the river makes it a very special place to make memories.
The restaurant will rival many of the restaurants in Chicago for its attention to their customers and the cusine they prepare. The location is well within walking distance of many neighborhood shops, boutiques, and restaurants. The bathrooms are very modern with many new amenities. There is nothing wrong with the decor in the rooms. This is supposed to be an charming inn and not a Holiday Inn. The service from every staff member is exceptional. I would definately stay there again.
Beautiful rooms, gorgeous scenery, top-rated cuisine.
It's an absolutely beautiful hotel. I highly recommend.
This is the second time that my wife and I have stayed here. We love it and plan on making it a yearly trip.
We were lucky enough to eat in the gazebo on a beautiful day. The mushroom tart was not good. Tasteless puff pastry with some sort of mushroom sauce on it. Pass on this dish BUT the fries were PERFECT! Waitress was wonderful! Some of companions said they stayed in the rooms & all said they were 'ok'.
This hotel is cozy , rooms are spacious and the view from the balcony was nice bathroom is great with jacuzzi for 2. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Chocolate chip cookie and milk with turn down service after checking in was enjoyable. I only have 3 complaints about the inn when you enter the lobby you immediately have to step down 6 or 8 stairs i can't remember exactly but it is inconvenient when you have luggage and have to walk down stairs to get to check in . As i said the balcony view was nice however the sound proofing was not i could hear traffic, ambulance, geese from the river this is inside with the door shut tightly and thirdly the shudders they use for privacy and blocking sunshine in the morning won't close tightly enough to block out the sun therefore with a easterly facing balcony as soon as the sun was up my room was no longer dark. Next time I'll bring ear plugs and a sleep mask
Would give less than one star if possible. We visited this Hotel to celebrate our new business being formed. We had to wait over an hour for our room to be ready. So we left to walk the town. We come back to stand in line for another 30 minutes while some very questionable guests where trying to check in. We got to over hear about how high they were and how high they were going to get later. The wait, and experience were just terrible.
I loved the place, it's really cool place. I love there services in fact they have a very good receptionist. There drinks and food are something else. It's a good place to be, a lot of parking, good security, nice toilets and bathroom and rooms either.
Fantastic riverside views. Love that it's close to the damn so you can leave your door open and listen to the rapids. Good size rooms and amazing tub! Milk and cookies brought to your room each night! Did a overnight package that included strawberries and champagne.
Stayed in a couples suite which was amazing. Luxurious bathroom, comfortable King sized bed, and a fireplace. Service was impeccable. Dinner was delicious. Also had a couples massage, so relaxing. A perfect small trip away from home to be pampered by.
Charming and beautiful boutique hotel. Rooms have fireplaces, balconies and river views. Bountiful complimentary European continental breakfast. Charging station for your electric car. A great place!
the hotel and staff are amazing. we went there for dinner, and stayed for drinks. the wait staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. we spoke to the gentleman behind the desk who told us about the full service spa and room accommodations. we ended up booking a room for the next weekend. all of the hotel employees greeted us whenever we saw one. everyone was very nice and very helpful. this is a very nice hotel, and we would definitely recommend it.
Wonderful treat! Amazing staff. Wish I could move to Geneva!
I have stayed here three times and this is a crazy nice boutique hotel in Geneva IL. Great atmosphere and perfect for a city getaway to rest and relax. Get a room with a waterfront deck overlooking the Fox river! The surrounding town of Geneva is a gem of the Chicago burbs with so many cool shops and restaurants.
Classy room with comfortable king sized bed, cozy fireplace, Jacuzzi tub, heated bathroom floors, and complimentary chocolate covered strawberries for our special occasion.
The rooms are lovely, especially the ones on the river! One of my favorite things is the turndown service with milk and cookies. Makes me feel like a kid again!
Stay two nights, because I'm handicapped I needed help and the bellboy that came out to get our luggage could not have been more helpful and so polite, making sure we got to our room and providing us with what ever we needed. The bed was so comfy but the TV had no instructions and no menu to help you know what was playing. Also the bath could have had more handicap things like grab bars in the tub and shower,I could not use the beautiful tub because of this. Everything was top quality from the food to the staff. Do your self a favor and try the Harrington Inn and Spa you won't be sorry.
Stayed at the Herrington multiple times over the years, have dined at Atwaters frequently and utilized the spa as well. Every visit has been of high quality and service is always top notch. This visit was no different. Went fire a 90 minute massage and the experience was just as expected, relaxing and effective. The Herrington will remain top on our list for special occasion dining, lodging and spa service. A true gem in a beautiful town!
Attended a wedding and reception there. The staff was outgoing, efficient and always courteous. The food was excellent.
Went there for our honeymoon and it was so great. Definitely plan on going back again.
Great services including food and cleanliness and profession alums of staff. Also great location and meeting space
One of the best romantic hotels in the Chicagoland area! Great rooms and even better service, I recommend the Herrington Inn to all of my friends. I normally don't give a place 5 stars, but the Herrington's service alone awards this hotel perfect marks!
An excellent place to getaway for a romantic weekend.
Pros: milk and cookies, hot tub in room Cons: rugs need to be cleaned and vacuumed , chairs in breakfast/bar area were nasty drip marks on them...rug was soiled, prices were to much for the low end quality of the furniture, and rugs.. food was dried out looked like they just kept reusing the same food every morning. Meat was all dried out. Service was rude. Not worth the price you pay
This is a fantastic hotel! They are very friendly and courteous.
Atwater's restaurant within the Herrington Inn & Spa was wonderful. Server was attentive and friendly. Quaint little restaurant with beautiful view of the river and cozy little fireplace. Food was delicious and presentation phenomenal!
The best place in the world to go with your loved ones you will love it
Right in the center of all activities, the Herrington is a very well-kept clean hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are taken care of. The on site restaurant is excellent as well as the lobby bar. Will definitely return.
Attentive staff, fantastic food in a quiet intimate setting.
2nd time staying here
My husband and I love it !!
Amazing view from our room.
Service is always pleasant
My husband and I stayed at the Herrington Inn last week and we absolutely loved it! We live locally but will definitely be returning!
Attended wedding, very nice reception area with great view.
It's a charming hotel in the midst of great local shops and restaurants.
A beautiful location and a wonderful, welcoming staff. An excellent place to escape and relax for several days.
Stayed and attending my Niece's wedding. This is the most romantic, elegant Inn we have ever stayed in. I would rate the Inn and Banquet facility over a 10 if I could. The food was very well prepared and plated, the waiters were flawless.
We had an incredible birthday brunch event around the holidays for a party of 50 people. We had the whole room to ourselves and the view was stunning. The staff was super accommodating and Racquel was the best to work with. Highly recommend.
The room was beautiful and service was great. The inroom food menu was lacking as was the breakfast. Over all I would stay there again
Beautiful, especially around holiday season. Fantastic working staff
I had a terrible experience here in September 2012. Restaurant and bar (ha - barely) were absolutely nothing to write home about. Hard time believing this won any awards. Best in Geneva, huh? I guess that should have thrown up a red flag. I had to stay in a combination of 3 rooms - each room was broken in a different way. The first room had a broken heater - it was about 110 in the room and it wouldn't cool down. The second room had a broken fireplace. The third room had a broken heater - it was about 55 in the room. The staff were rude, visibly annoyed, and rather unhelpful each time I told them I needed to change rooms. There was also a very long wait between rooms - I wasted the first 2.5 - 3 hours of my trip just waiting to finally be able to check into a room that wasn't broken. Got sick of the staff's bad attitude and took the third one that was broken - I just heaped on the blankets and endured. Was given the wrong directions by staff to some sights I was interested in seeing - never saw them. Absolutely hopeless. The grounds are nice, and a few of the staff members were nice, but I wouldn't go back if you paid me.
Overrated, overpriced and no parking. My wife was very disappointed!
Amazing brunch served in a cozy atmosphere with top notch waiters.
Very nice! The staff is friendly. Rooms are bery clean.
Great rooms, views, staff, and location! A hidden gem in Geneva.
Everything was exceptional. Rooms are cozy and the hospitality is unmatched. Very resonably priced as well. Highly recommended.
Nice place to stay. A bit expensive. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Very well done!
Perfect weekend getaway location for a couple.
Continental breakfast was very fresh with healthy choices.
My sister and I make it a tradition to visit the Herrington Spa around Christmas. The grounds are lovely and I love the hotel ambiance. This time however our visit was a bit disappointing. The facial room was freezing cold and it took me a while to relax. Although an esthetician provided a very good service I noticed that the facial light was wobbly and several times I felt like it would fall on me. My sister experienced a body scrub with a facial in a different room and she noticed that the facial light there was constantly loosing power. I felt that since an hour facial is $130 they could have invested in a better equipment. The carpeting was old and the color of mud. It is noticeable even though the lights are dimmed everywhere. When checking out the receptionist Bre at the front desk had a very commanding tone which I find inappropriate in a spa setting. I am not sure if we ever come back.
My wife and I have spent three anniversaries here in the last couple years. It is a dreamy place right now the river. It couldn t have been located in a better town also, Geneva is the cutest town in Chicagoland.
Relaxing and charming hotel on the Fox River. Walking distance to great shops and restaurants in Geneva IL
Excellent rooms and even better customer service. The staff goes above and beyond for your stay.
The service was good but the food was average. Appetizers, salad, soup and desserts were good but the main course was just average. I expected better from this place based on the location, atmosphere and prices.
The hotel was beautiful! The room was welcoming and absolutely clean. Bed was super comfy and the view from our balcony was beautiful. The staff is really friendly and very helpful. It was an absolute delight to stay for 3 nights. Will definitely come back!
