The first time I've been.
Had a great experience. Great food and friendly staff.

If the original owners of this once great pub would be rolling in their graves if they saw what this place has become. The hipster long-beard schmucks behind the bar really need to lose their attitude.

Cool local bar with outdoor seating. Good range of beer on tap, great food options (prices on the high side) and ice cream to top it off!
Would avoid on weekends because it's most families with small kids and not easy to get a table.

Great pub. It's got a good little vegan option choice on the menu too. I had a laksa and it was rather splendid. The left controller on the Street Fighter ][ rainbow edition arcade machine is broken. You can't block. Which is a shame, which also means you can't sonic boom. You need to sonic boom these days.

I couldn't believe my luck when I discovered this place. The disco ball reminds me of my wedding night. The significance of the wallpaper brings back memories of world war 2.

The Henson has a great atmosphere. It's family friendly and does great food.

Family friendly, pet friendly local pub & a parent room! This sums it up for this vibrant & loud all rounder pub & after all its still a rowdy pub. I had the tastey poke bowl and it was so delish!
When we first arrived I could already hear the loud chatter. I headed straight for the bar advising I had booked a table (a must on weekends) the lovely lady advised us to wait for another staff to attend to us shortly. Within a few mins we were ushered to our table inside. I found that it was too loud for our kiddies and requested an outdoor seating. The waitress more than happy about my request and there was no delay or complications, we had a table right next to the parent room! Perfecto!
There is also a children s play area as a bonus in this pub!

This is the best local in the Inner West. Atmosphere is great, food is excellent AND they have Guinness on tap.

Really enjoy the atmosphere here. There are a few different sections in this hotel which seem to cater for many different clients. The garden area is great for families and dogs!(its dog friendly here). The front bar shows sports so great if there's a match on.
The food is also really good but prepared for a 45 min wait at peak times. Great selection of beers and ales.
This is one of those pubs that doesn't look that great from the outside but once your in there its hard to leave.

Sweet potato fries tasted of squid, not great. But it's got a dog friendly garden.

Multi-room, multi-function place to cater for everyone. Friendly barstaff and street parking.

Very impressed with the good food and prices. Seating was not ideal however, we were forced to sit in the bar as opposed to the restaurant area.

5 starts what a place, tasty beer. There was a Scottish bartender great stuff.

Great pub with a good selection of craft beers. The food is always tasty and freshly prepared. There is a play area for the kids put the back. At peak times this place gets really busy!

We've been going here for years and it's a great place to get a big feed and good range of craft beers. Initially tried it because they catered for gluten free and my wife's only had 1 issue with her celiac during dozens of visits.

The food here is delicious, I had the roti chicken satay tacos which blew my mind, their range of hot sauce is equally on point. Lovely venue.

A great pub to meet with friends especially if you have kids. Good food, craft beer and a room just for thr little dudes. Cant complain.

As far as pub food goes this is one of the best I have tried. The service is good, staff are friendly and the atmosphere on a Sunday is pretty good. It's busy but not overcrowded.

Prices are good, and so is the atmosphere. Kid friendly and all.

Great little local pub with a good selection of beers, and some good pub grub. As it was/is the traditional home of the Newtown Jets at Henson park, as you'd expect they have live sports on quite regularly out the front.

Cool pub with that inner west relaxed vibe. Dogs are allowed, at least in the beer garden area where I was :)

Great pokie-free pub. Creative and quality menu for veg and non veg and. Decent bar with a good range of beers. And a ball pit for the kids.

Dropped off the kids to the play area citing it smelt like dirty socks and feet?

Other than that place is clean, food is good but a little too salty for my liking Nd service is fantastic

Nice pub with a great environment. Outdoor area and indoor with sports on 3 decent screens. Game area with Daytona and pinball machines.

Ok chips and calamari. Very friendly staff and great vibe. Lots of hipster beers (sorry, craft beers) on tap. Barcade room brought back memories of smashing Space Invaders, as I did this afternoon. Good watering hole for Newtown Jets supporters. Family friendly, so stay away if you're not a fan of precocious gelato-eating children

Had a great lunch with the daughter she loved her burger and chips cooked medium and my knuckle sandwich was great topped with a Cooper pale ale in Henson beer garden top Afternoon

Great local with a solid selection of food and drinks, friendly staff. Love the thick cut chips and Grifter on tap! Dog friendly beer garden accessible from side entrance and water bowls provided.

Cool little place to go with the kids for a play while mum and dad watch and have a beer.

A bit of a mix bag when it comes to the menu, and none of it down to perfection unfortunately.

I ordered the steak, underdone for rare, fat not rendered. The salad tasted stale. Chips where good.
The ramen noodles where cheap and poor quality, but the flavor was good.
Interesting Lamb pie... never thought it could work, has its faults, but tasty.

Maybe sticking to a cuisine would help the restaurant and the food.

Jade was an amazing hostess! Absolutely delightful. Love the venue and the staff! Steak was extremely delicious. Only downside was lack of Pokies.....but great vibe.

Great local. Good food. Loads of beer and wine options and the staff are friendly. Casual, laid back atmosphere but still nice for a few drinks and a meal. No pokies as well which is a big plus!

Great service. The guy that signed me in even took me for a tour of the pub staff are super super friendly. I had the knuckle sandwich. It was beautiful. Nice beer selection. Good size venue definitely on my list to return

Great place to bring kids and hang out for a bit. Good selection of beers on rotating taps. Food is fantastic, well above what you'd found in a normal pub.

A very relaxed atmosphere. Extremely covert safe they had worked out great social distancing spaces. Food was delicious but it was a little expensive for pub food. Highly recommend the Budda salad add in chicken. (Even at $24 it's worth it). Good selection of beers and wine. Unfortunately the kids play area was closed due to Covid restrictions. Staff extremely helpful and always attentive. Parking can be hard so walk if you can. Lovely out door area too.

Very relaxed & casual pub which is both dog & kid friendly - there is even a little cubby house for kids to play in.

I ve been here a few times now & this place is always busy especially during lunch time. I think from memory the previous times I ve been here there was sometimes live music as well but not the day I went most recently.

Food comes out relatively fast & has a slight Asian fusion twist to their dishes. Some dishes are a tad bit pricey for my liking ($25 for a nasi goreng) but the food is good.

Great for groups as most tables are good for 4+ or more.

Best beer south of the Equator; 4 live sports screens in ONE room: spectacular.

Really buzzy with great outside and play area for kids, food is quite nice,not special but all current favourites in Oz on menu ie karate & pork belly burgers (pork belly burger fat wasn't rendered and I hated it, just a blob of faintly cooked pork belly) bur fab chicken satay roti.

Nice presentation of food. Ordered the Barramundi for lunch which was quite delicious. Staff were friendly

In Ubud, Bali, 2 weeks ago I was reminded of the amazing customer service, understanding and generosity of the Balinese people towards their customers. At each restaurant one of the first questions asked was ' Do you have any food allergies?' I was so touched and thought I really need to bring my granddaughter here!! Yesterday we decided to have lunch at 'The Henson'. My granddaughter who is 4 is anaphylactic to egg. She really wanted a 'burger" but the roll contained egg. My daughter very politely asked if they could simply change the roll to another on the menu which didn't contain egg. The answer from the lovely girl behind the counter was, I'm sorry we can't do that, we don't make menu changes'. OK, but my daughter is allergic to egg, can we speak to a manager. Absolutely unbelievably the manger also said an emphatic 'NO'!! Please note, we were the only people at the counter trying to order food. Busy they were not. My daughter was understandably in tears after this very sad experience of not being able to provide a basic need for her daughter.... food for lunch! Never again will I attempt to have a meal at 'The Henson'. It's unfortunately another experience of, the lack of empathy and customer service in Sydney. Thanks to our favourite Vietnamese roll place in Marrickville....lunch ended up being fun and delicious.
