For year they were over charging me on water and electricity. Unable to give the original municipal bill each month, they made up their own. Been 3 years now that I have been waiting on then to call me back. Worst company in Cape town

Our building doesn t even have a caretaker, the useless one who s number they gave never answers his phone. I ve had a maintenance issue since I moved in and decided not to renew my rental agreement because of how pathetic they are.
Our buildings garden looks like a scrapyard and after numerous complaints about it, they couldn t give less of a **** about any issue in the block.
Oh and they love to surprise you with huge bills out of nowhere with absolutely no communication on why you re being billed that amount.
If I could give minus starts it would ve been a - 5 stars from my end
Permanent Trust emotionally abuses their clients and make you feel they have power over your home. They must be reported to the ombudsman. They stole so much money from our building.
Alan Meyer is the worst agent I've ever dealt with. He is extremely rude and has zero manners. I would not recommend this company at all if you plan to sell or rent out your property.
Regardless of how many times this company deletes their business profile on the internet due to poor reviews from the public, I will always be back to share my experience. Not because we want anything from this company, (we wrote off the money they owe us long ago) but because we want to prevent other innocent people from losing money to this company..
OUR STORY: Our company rented a commercial premises from Permanent Trust a couple of years ago now. We were told a mandatory 3 months depost + 1 months rent up front was required which we paid. The first couple of months we would receive exorbitant water bills of between R600 - R700, this concerned us as our other larger store would only use R80 - R100 of water a month. We were told all the shops in the building received one bill and that bill was split between all the tenants and the large water bills would be taken up with council. Although unhappy with these amounts, and although we were given no proof / reading of actual water used (nor did it state in our lease that we were liable for a % of a total bill) we continued paying these bills out of good faith. After approximately one year these bills reduced drastically to no more than R100 a month and after a conversation with the caretaker he informed us he had found a leak in one of the other shops in the building. We received a small rebate once throughout that period but not nearly as much as what we had been over charged. We decided not to take this further at the time. Fast forward 3 years and we decided to vacate the building, we gave notice and were told there was a penalty for lease cancellation, we found this a bit unfair as we were tenants who always paid their rent and never requested one bit of maintenance but to keep the peace we agreed to the cancellation fee. We were then told we would have to have the building ready for inspection 3 days prior to the end of the month for which rent had been paid for in full, this was not possible as our business still needed to trade and our shelving was still up till the last paid day. We offered for the estate agents to collect the keys and inspect at 6pm on the 31st day of the month, they requested we leave the keys with the tenant next door and the next day received an email claiming the building was not in the same condition as what we received it in. We were refused our deposit refund without any proof / invoices. Only 7 weeks after vacating the premises and many emails back and forth requesting our deposit or proof of damages were we given hand written invoices (from a company who doesnt seem to exist) for damages to walls and carpets, damages we denied resposibility for. Now we are left we no other option but to expose a company for its poor ethics. Regardless of how many times they delete their social media and google business accounts due to poor reviews from the public, we will always be back to leave this review.
From Moemina our 'Agent', to Helen Roux (Bill Cox's PA) & Bill Cox & the whole of Permanent Trust. Deposit TAKEN during this pandemic after them telling us we are not allowed to leave, and that our deposit will not be touched... We had to chase them for 2 months to find out what's happening, just to get laughed at on the phone as if we were crazy to think we would get our deposit back. My Girlfriend lost her job hence us having to move out...
They couldn't even supply us with a final statement & still can't... Money literally TAKEN.
Zero Humanity, Zero Communication... Would give Zero stars if I could.
WARNING : GET EVERYTHING IN BLACK IN WHITE. THEIR WORD MEANS JACK SQUAT.
I would not even give them one star! Terrible to deal with, they never assist with anything and they will keep taking off of your deposit and just not respond until you call them about 101 times. Would not recommend using them, rather stay under a bridge.
This agency is absolutely RACIST and UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Despite qualifying in all areas of the application form to rent a property, they deny your application without any explanation and reason. They are unresponsive and do not attend to you whatsoever. I wish I could rate 0 stars for their service. Absolutely disappointed in Permanent Trust
