I was on my Sunday morning walk when I saw a sign saying 'riverside pub' and I thought I'd treat myself to a pint and maybe a meal. Walked into a pretentious 'gastropub' with unfriendly staff where I was made to feel unwelcome immediately. Bought a pint and left after one drink, never to return. Don't come here if you're looking for a riverside pub.

We went to The Gun in Docklands to eagerly watch the 25 finalists, chefs from various well known restaurants, competing for the best slider spot in The Slider Decider competition.

During the heats, The Gun team ensured we were feed and watered with beers and ales available, and cheeseburger and pulled pork sliders.

It was fun watching the chefs battle it out in the kitchen during the first heat.

However, it got packed in the marquee very quickly. One downside of being further back in the marquee was that we could not see everything that was going on during the heats.

We will be returning when the warmer summer weather arrives, as they have a fab riverside location & we will want to check out the new gin garden.

Hmm prices are quite hefty it I am honest, a little bit of out my league, however, I genuinely felt welcomed as I came in, awesome views of the 02 Areana and the river in the evening as well as great staff!

Staff were impeccable and the food was amazingly delightful! These two elements should have made it a 5 star experience along with the stunning riverside seating area.
Unfortunately, The only drawback of the evening was the manager s terrible up selling skills. Brought out double the sides I had ordered and then asked if it was okay to charge me for it... (the South African chap with the beard and glasses)

Apart from that it was a great expierence!

Fantastic, cosy venue.

Fantastic, cosy venue.

Excellent selection of beers, wines and gins, an open fire in winter and an excellent restaurant serving a high quality take on British classics.

Lovely pub right on the water edge with great view of the 02. Staff friendly, service was good. Food mediocre especially for the price, would visit again on hot day if we were guaranteed seating outside.

When I made reservation I was told we can stay maximum 2 hours. I said ok. When we went there we were almost finish our lunch and I was still drinking my pint after 50 mins. Then waitress brought the bill without asking. Then she came back in 5 mins to get the bill. I told her we are not ready to leave we have 2 hours. Then she gave me weird look and left. I felt terrible for taking my friends there. Whereas, I read good review and had high expectations.

Unfortunately I had to do the fastest eat and run I have ever had to do, but I ordered, paid and ate in record time. It is sad that that had to be the case as I really liked the look and feel of this classic style pub. Their Gin Garden has a fabulous view overlooking the Thames. I had their Sunday Roast, their beef, and it was marvelous, thr best I have had in London thus far. The beef was tender and juicy, full of flavor, served up with all the classic trimmings, the Yorkshire Pudding was fluffy and tasted great with the au jus gravy, they provided extra on the side, it did not go to waste. Also very much liked the horseradish cream sauce. There was I think a nod to the classic British dish Bubble and Squeak but done as a scalloped potato dish, at least that's how I interpreted the piece of baked potato slices with cauliflower. I must go back next time I am there. I little out of the way, but I think that adds to it's charm. Out of the way is relative, the DLR is about a 10 minute walk and there are buses that run nearby. The staff was friendly, and knowledgeable no

First post-lockdown2 meal - and so glad we chose The Gun.

We were lucky enough to be seated on the terrace with the lovely riverside seating, making for a great view (especially at night).

Food and service outstanding - our starters were rabbit with poached pears, which was exquisite; and Monkfish - also excellent.

The mains of pork belly were also up to the usual high standard - tender meat, crackling just right - and the mash with peanuts an original and tasty combination
.

Thanks particularly to the staff for making us feel welcome, safe and for the manager for asking the loud party to quieten down.
