A refined and reliable gastropub overlooking the Thames and the O2. Very pleasant to while away a couple of hours.

Great pub, food, service and location. Not the cheapest place to drink draft beer but that s the only minor downside.
Interesting location not too far from Canary Wharf and with a good selection of modern British cuisine withn quite a peculiar environment.
Cosy atmosphere and more than decent Sunday roast. Surely enough to come back
Good selection of drink, situated right next to River Thames towards the end of Canary wharf. The place has a colorful history and I was introduced to it by a friend. I experienced a real fire place and had fun adding the wood into the fire to keep warm. The barkeeper was friendly and recommended my tipper. And he understood my taste well. Had a nice time, good place to sit outside as well
Great food, local craft beers and good cocktails combined with friendly service. Great for a night with friends, be it for drinks or good, but also to bring your book and read in front of the open fireplace in one of their cosy armchairs. Only downside are the prices, but hey - quality costs money!
Wonderful old place, great location on the river, excellent food & service!
Awesome food, awesome service, awesome views. Awesome!
Roasts were exceptional. The starters were all amazing (and the ones we didn't have looked amazing). The desserts were great and as was the booze.
Second time here and I will definitely be back!
Try and get a table on the terrace for an amazing river view.
I have been to the gun for both a few drinks in the evening and lunch and both were superb. For lunch we had an amazing view of the O2 arena and river in a delightfully naval themed room. The food was excellent (both lunch and canapes in the evening) and the service was excellent for drinks. A bit pricier than the average pub, but worth every penny. If you go for lunch during the week them will also offer you a free car service to and from the restaurant.
Lovely food and well kept beer..... views across the Thames
Beautiful historic pub with brilliant view and great menu. Service was very nice and we enjoyed our time there. We sat outside on the patio which can be closed in bad weather.
Lovely location.. They need to sort the smell from the ladies toilet.
Excellent attitude to customer service .Food excellent.
Great view, great Restaurant. Ask to see the private dining room the view is incredible, they'll also show you the secret stairway they used to smuggle alcohol back in le jour
We turned up at the end of a night, wow what a view over the water. From the front you'd never know the space at the back of the pub is so amazing.
A great pub for a relaxed Sunday lunch with a cool pint and a spectacular view across the Thames to the Dome.
Hidden gem in Docklands. Amazing Sunday roast and beautiful views from the terrace. Great history and story behind the bar as well!
Frequently the restaurant has really amazing food, but occasionally it is not great (maybe chef dependent?)
If you like gaspatcho, order the tomatoes soup. I also had the sardine dinner on a lark and it actually was great!
Lovely place with a tasty and delicious Sunday roast. Generous extra portions of sauces. Really worth. The service was really good as well, friendly staff in a lovely environment. Stunning view of the o2 arena just crossing the river.
Only one point about our bill, we ordered a Pinot noir that they didn't have, the waitress offered straight away another brand from the menu but didn't mention the double price. Wasn't a problem at all, just surprised us when we got the bill. No doubts I'll be back and super recommend.
Sunday lunch here is always fantastic. The best I've had in London. Just remember to loosen your belt because the portions are generous!
As per great reviews, the team live up to it. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere and yet professional.
Food was lovely and tasty. Sunday roast Portions were very good too!
Will I bring my friends here? A definitely YES!
Beautiful place for a small party venue. Went to an engagement party here and the food was SO good and the service was excellent
We booked for last Saturday and were very happy to have a table on the terrace. Wine and service were excellent, but the food was a disappointment. Scallop starter came with two small scallops. Three people in our party ordered the rack of lamb which was fatty, tough and undercooked, not pink as ordered. My chicken breast was just okay.. The Chilled Chocolate Fondant was superb! Maybe the kitchen was having an off night, as this neighbourhood restaurant has been good in the past.
The decoration is excellent. The place is too pretentious for a restaurant. Low value for money
Excellent food and service, and the view was awesome
Great location with a nice Terrace and view on thames + friendly service. Food was mediocre though, so overall 4 Stars.
One of our fav places, food and service excellent as ever.
One of the best pubs around. Top quality food and staff
Beautiful place, great food and nice atmosphere for catch up! Beautiful beer garden too!
Lovely historical building in a quiet area, we stayed at the beer garden where there's a good view of the O2, recommended.
Whatever you order.... Don't get the grouse. For the price I paid for it, I would have expected it to be fully cooked!
This used to be one of my favourite gastropubs but since it was taken over by Fullers it has been atrocious.
Amazing views and really friendly helpful staff. Just came for a drink but they do serve food as well. There's an outdoor deck to sit right on the river
Amazing food and service. The halibut was to die for! Lovely pub!
Love this place... Nothing better than Sunday lunch at the Gun by one of the fireplaces.
Came here for a friend's wedding dinner and the food was good but the customer service was great and the waiter we had did an excellent job.
Food was lovely. Beautiful views in the Riverside terrace. Manager was incredibly helpful and attentive. Will definitely be going back again
TIP: def ask for a river view table
Slightly difficult to find, but absolutely worth it. Had a wonderful afternoon, fabulous river views with a traditional roast. Our waitress was the fabulous Christina who delighted us with her fantastic service and she s from Italy (near Naples) so was trusted at advising on the food and drinks.
Great atmosphere, however veggie/vegan options bit poor and pricey for what they offer.
Went to check it out on a Saturday afternoon. Very cozy inside with a lot of guns on the walls. Will definitely be coming back
A very nice secluded pub with pleasant waterfront views. Pricey but good English comfort pub food.
Fantastic night had a really good time drinks and the staff were amazing. The location was amazing and it's great.
The food was good, but not excellent as the price suggested. The atmosphere was great though, the beer garden is a non smoking-area with a great view over the river. There was a beer selection, not extensive but a good step above most.
A very good selection of fullers beers. Very nice views from the garden and non smoking balcony. Cannot speak about the food as I arrived too late. A bit out of the way which probably is what makes it so good.
One of my favourite pubs with great food and great views. Sadly let down on this occasion by the quality of its real ale.
Nice drink over lookinking the river opposite the Dome.
Great pub but it gets very busy. The did menu is great and they have events such as craft beer festival etc which make the visit quite unique.
Nice Valentine dinner with a very nice view on the river. Manager was amazing, his staff needs to learn basic manners.
The area around the back is excellent and cosy-ish during the winter if you can nab a seat near one of the log fire places. It's an old pub and some of its story is told by pictures on the walls. During the summer the two outside areas backing on to the river does a nice job. Generally have a decent selection of beer with ales/craft on rotation. Can get a little busy Thur/Fri/Sat and could be closed for private functions on the weekend, check before hand. Not had the food in a while so this rating is for drinking only right now.
The venue is just great right on the banks of the Thames. This great but the food is simply the best with great service.
We visited The Gun expecting a nice dinner, but the location atmosphere and quality of our meal exceeded our expectations. A really great pub, and one which I'll definitely return to.
Great restaurant on the banks of the tamigi .. excellent lamb !!!
nice pub, not cheap though - central london restaurant prices
Lovely food and ambiance. Every corner gives a new surprise. Nice view of the water.
We love this place. In the summer you can enjoy your food outside right next to the river. In the winter you can sit by the fire on big arm chairs. They do great cocktails and have a good selection of wines, beers and spirits. My only two cons are that it's rather small so can get a little cramped, and also it's quite pricey. But for a week night gathering every now and then it's charming. We have never sat in the restaurant area for food but we have had a roast and some nibbles there and they were all very good.
We went to The Gun for dinner on Saturday - hoping for a nice, relaxed meal with family. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. The food was very overpriced and too fussy. It was also a little bland and our main courses were not that hot - clearly they seemed to have been sitting around in the kitchen for a while. Our 'waitress' was truly awful. From the overfamiliar hey guys' when we clearly had a woman in our group, to the rushed service, she really had no idea what she was doing. She kept rushing us to place our order, make no recommendations regarding the food, whether a course needed sides etc, we didn't even dare to ask for a wine suggestion. The starters were served before we finished our aperitives. I know it wasn't busy, but standing around looking bored, eating maltesers or picking your spots is very off putting. Once upon a time I would have highly recommended The Gun, but as Canary Wharf local resident - I would actively recommend people to AVOID this place. A real disappointment.
Top gastro pub, been going for years and never ever disappoints. Love this place
Good selection of drinks and food, both on their pub menu and on the restaurant menu as well. The staff is usually friendly and the place offers an interesting view right on the Thames, plus a fireplace for the cold months.
It's a brilliant gastro pub with friendly staff, delightful food and a good selection of of drinks
Lovely old English pub in the middle of some lovely cute houses. Surprisingly nice for the location and slightly more expensive for selective gin and tonics but over all really nice
I love this place - the setting is lovely, peaceful and unusual, and the staff were very accommodating.
One of my favourite pubs in London. Still surprisingly a bit of a hidden secret it would seem. You can often find a seat here in the evening. The food is fantastic, there is a good beer selection and the atmosphere/location makes it very special.
I'm writing this as an ex-employee with 8y of experience in the business and I'll try to be as objective as I can.
First of all I would like to point out that amongst other things, thy beloved General Manager cuts staff's wage, tips and hours in a way that leads to having staff members (including me) quitting every week or even everyday(I became the oldest bar staff member after one week of work). These things are noticeable only by the remaining staff and the reguar customers so that's why I'm bringing this up.
As a customer, I'd say the place lacks coordination, everyone does everything instead of each staff member having their seperate role which leads to two things - creates confusion and slows down the service. Apart from that, the food and wine are good, so if you have no issue with the fact that you are going to be served by a bunch of mistreated fellows (some of them which are probably too new to realise they are being mistreated just yet) - go for it.
A great local pub, hidden of the beaten track, but only 15 minutes on the DLR from Excel. Great ales, lager and beers go very well with great food. Go out back and you can look over the river and into the city.
This pub is located right next to the Thames and has one of the best views in London onto the O2 Arena. Food was delicious and staff were friendly. It even has an open fire place in winter. Highly recommended!
Try to bring good weather to sit outside by the river, poultry, meat and fish varieties are on the menu / Try to catch good weather to have great time on the riverside, indoor seats also fine. Poultry, Meat and Fish variety can be found in the menu.
Very small seats without back support. Small and dirty tables. Dogs laying around. For the price, the place could have a better presentation. The food is good.
Second visit we sat by the river, it was nicer.
Third visit. Seated inside and it was terribly. Service took ages and food was awful.
