A bit expensive, and the seating is uncomfortable. But the food is pretty good
Big variety --- breakfast all day plus sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken pot pie, tacos & burritos, dessert and beer/wine. Good for a quick bite.
Not the best place. The way to order was interesting. Went for dinner, but it was all self serve, non buffet. Food was a bit cold, drink was warm. Friend came, his salmon wasn't smoked, it was raw.
Nothing that great, but if you go, try the watermelonade.
Great food. Gluten-free options. Staff really helpful.
Thoroughly typical salad and sandwich restaurant. Good for a casual occasion or meeting, or meals between shows at one of the many performance halls immediately adjacent
Nice staff, good food, Belgian beer. Add to this rocking music!
Friendly staff great food excellent environment
JJ and Charles are excellent mangers . The staff are so friendly .They are patient and will offer suggestions and will take the time to explain, if you have a question. Only thing they need to do is bring g back the dark chocolate cookie!
Great spot although always found their indoor seating a bit weird. And the food is definitely overpriced but decent quality.
Reliable and casual for when you need something relatively fast without breaking the bank. I tend to stick with the mainstays since not everything on such a huge menu can be fresh...
The menu's changing again so who knows what hipster-fare will be around in the next few weeks.
Menu a little complicated to understand and sandwiches not too abundant. However nice welcome and nice and helpful waiters.
I was really disappointed here. The breakfast burrito was pretty good but it was super messy and took 20 minutes. Their ordering system was kinda confusing and then we had to fight for a two top table for 3 which was awkward.
Great place for lunch. There Turkey and meatball sandwiches were both great.
Great place for food near the Symphony. Staff is friendly and helpful, and lovely fireplace. I always go for the vegetarian chili.
Good coffee and breakfast spot. It s a chain but doesn t feel like one. Food is good and staff is friendly. I try to work here some times or have coffee meetings, but find that the hard surfaces all around make for a noisy environment when it s busy.
My preferred scene for american food. Prices were average for the menu.
This is a convenient place to meet up before a show at the SF Jazz Center, Symphony, or other spots in the vicinity of Civic Center/Hayes Valley.
The main reason anyone would dine here is the convenience of location (just a block or two away from the jazz center, the symphony, the opera house, and other venues), the simplicity of the menu and of the ordering process, and the speed of serving. The space is welcoming, although it can get crowded and some seats are a bit cramped. On the other hand, all this expediency doesn't come for free: the food is mediocre and boring, and honestly a bit overpriced. In busy and bustling Hayes Valley you won't find much else where you can grab a quick bite before your show.
A great selection of upscale diner fare. The fresh squeezed juices are not to be missed. Dark and rich ambience, lovely heated sidewalk tables.
Good food, quick and easy. A little over priced, but so convenient.
Easy place to go before symphony. Nice place and staff. Will go back anytime.
Great veggie sandwich and soups, though the artichoke dip could have been better. Awesome staff.
Delicious food with healthy options, really nice atmosphere
Pretty over priced for the portion sizes. $20 should get you more Mac and cheese than a microwavable bowl.
They cook omelette like it should be. Fluffy and soft, but cook throughout. The fresh orange juice is super fresh the only drawback is it's on the pricey side. The meal costed $24.
Yum! Good portions fresh food. Great before going to SFJazz
Small portions, hit or miss. I love the tomato soup and grilled cheese.
Drove from Texas to eat the hot dogs! Getting ready to come back to eat my new favorite place. The Grove
Great breakfast, super friendly staff. I stop by for breakfast every time I'm in the area.
I've only had the coffee and tea here and it's good, but the atmosphere is excellent and relaxing.
Great place to stop for a drink or a bite - easy to meet up here too as it's not far from the freeway & parking is generally available during the day.
I had the Eggs Benedict, Dave's way. Was really good, and nice to have the whole menu open all day.
Close to Civic center theaters, deep menu, decent pricing.
Don't care for lining up to order, then having to scavenge to find a table afterwards, especially during peak times.
Great place for a quick bite. Service was good, and food quality was excellent. Prices were good for the portion sizes. Everything we've ordered was great. I decided to try the California hotdog and it was very good....and I'm typically not a hotdog kind of person, but this caught my eye. The wife enjoyed the grilled cheese and commented on how good the soup was, stating it was better than most places. Overall great place to eat at.
Half chicken plate was good though not spectacular. Carrot cake was nice though for $7 I would have expected more. Chicken Pot Pie made for a great photo, if that's what you are looking for!
Delicious! Great, friendly service. Will definitely frequent again!
Good working cafe with solid wifi and food options to satisfy most cravings. Comfy seating options indoor and outdoor.
Ordered the mac n cheese entree but never received my side salad other than that the food was great, but I felt jipped never getting about half of my meal while paying full price.
We just went there to grab some coffee and were happy to find out they not only carry organic coffee but also organic milk:)
Good food, atmosphere is ok but menu is so broad and reasonable
Simple but good food and the people there are super nice
The food was good, we had quesadillas. It's conveniently located to concert halls in the area and a quick and solid spot to grab a quick bite to eat before.
SO's dish was served completely cold (cold meatballs on a hot plate), so we sent it back. Returned to us as an over-microwaved pile of steaming goop.
The food was not good, and the prices are quite high for what you're getting. Optimistically they offered us a cookie for the trouble with the meatballs.
The Grove is an awesome place for locals and tourists alike. They cater to folks attending events in the area but also locals who love close by. They are also very supportive of community. Visit this or their other locations.
American diner and food at San Francisco prices. Cool setting but everything was ordering at bar, which is good for groups, but i puzzled on tips for service. Food not to bad!
Went here after a concert at SF Jazz and was not at all impressed. I guess desperation got the best of us this time and I won't likely ever return. Although it's hard to know what to order and the staff had somewhat indifferent suggestions about menu favorites.
The place is cute. There's some solid vegetarian choices. The food is pretty good! Would recommend!
Cozy, informal space, good for quick bites or full plate. Lovely service. I barely know it and is one of my favorite spots to eat, drink, work, have a coffee. :)
The wait staff is really trying, but my breakfast was ice cold. This place is popular because of the location and Decour, but not necessarily the food.
The male manager and female server were extremely attentive. I heard them ask "how is everything" to everyone in the restaurant.
I visited 3/18/18 @ 10:00am. Unfortunately the kitchen doesn't have the proper flow down. They either need more chefs or a new chef. My eggs were lukewarm, but everything else seemed like it had been sitting out for upwards of two hours. The hashbrowns and toast didn't even show a hint a warmth...It was the breakfast you would eat if breakfast had been served at 9 AM and you showed up at noon for the leftovers. The kitchen obviously felt overwhelmed with the Sunday rush, so they completely gave up on the idea of serving warm food.
They should really reevaluate the kitchen situation. The front of the house staff was working so hard, yet you could feel the overwhelmed vibe in the air. If everyone's food was like mine, that would explain the tension. Had they been serving warm food, or the kitchen was more competent in general I think that it would be better for every! Good luck to them.
Great place for all day breakfast food or comfort food. Surprisingly really delicious.
Very friendly service and good food! Defenitly going back there!
Good food. Casual atmosphere. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. I had the pot pie and it was very good. They actually melt a pie crush over the whole bowl so you have lots of extra crust if you want to eat it. They also have breakfast all day if you like that kind of thing. It would be nice if they added a few more entree choices though. I would definitely go back.
Very well mannered staff. Good food. Little pricy though.
Delicious , healthy food and very comfortable environment
They are awesomely fast, considering that they still manage to make excellent mediterranean food!
Good food, quick service - great options for a quick bite on the go.
Love grabbing a pot of tea and dessert here. Last time the fruit platter wish honey was so refreshing. Nothing fancy, but the service is quick and it's s nice place to hang out.
Great, casual place to kick it with friends. Nice variety of sandwiches, snacks, and small plates. Try their lavender lemonade... it's a must, and a perfect refresher! The first thing I get every time I'm in Hayes for a visit.
Too crowded. Annoying policy against holding tables. Not worth the trouble. Never again.
Good food but for that price they should serve the tables.
This is a restaurant district so there's not a lot of need to go here over trying something new.
But they are consistent which locals tend to end up at.
