Super friendly baristas, great cheap coffee, cozy relaxed atmosphere!
To be fair my low rating is based on the fact that it is supposed to be a great place for kids. I had a bad experience. I looked up coffee shops that were good to bring kids to and Papaccino's popped up. The beautiful play area picture was an exaggeration. The toys seemed dirty and the trains were all gone for the track. The three year old with me seemed totally out of place and I could not even see him from most of the tables (which is a must if you are bringing a toddler to play while you drink your coffee!) I have been to much better places! In my opinion it is not kid friendly. The food was good though.
Nice little family coffee shop and cafe, great strong coffee and friendly staff
This review is honestly long overdue. Papacino's has been my neighborhood coffee shop going on 4 years now. The coffee is good, and the space is great, but what really makes a difference is the people that work there. Nobody at papacino's ever acts pretentiously like baristas at a lot of coffee shops in Portland do. I frequently hear customers being greeted by their first name's and it's wonderful. Nobody is there is "too cool" for their own good and it shows. Will definitely be going back for as long as I live in the neighborhood
If you haven t had a coffee from here then you re simply not loving your life to its full potential. The staff is great but so are the patrons. Literally all kinds of people and ages sitting in a room enjoying the best coffee shop in Portland. What else could ya ask for?
Great coffee, comfortable space, good people. I feel like this place is such a neighborhood spot.
Don't like coffee. But have other choices desert and breakfast foods
Love this place, I've been a regular for years! Love all the staff, specifically Niall and Sarah, but all of them are just examples of incredible, above and beyond cafe staff. Their coffee is fabulous, I love their papa mocha but they have a great selection of teas, and they will always do what it takes to make customers happy! Simon is very sweet, and I love the little bits of art he leaves everywhere! I bought his zine, which their manager let them put out for people to buy, which is going further to support employees than any boss I've ever had. All in all, it's an awesome place to sit and eavesdrop on the regulars, crochet, read, study, chat, smoke outside, bring kids, buy art, also cereal bar????, And at this point I consider it my home away from home. I love you guys so much!!!!!!!!!
Great place. They ask if you want your chai sweet or spicy! First time I've been asked that, it was a really nice touch. For the record, I like 'em spicy :)
The staff at Papaccino's is friendly and down to earth. This is a great place for coffee and study/reading time.
Coffee is great. I would say a solid five stars for great coffee and customer service.
Edit: they switched out their mediocre pastry options for inexpensive breakfast option which rock! Same rating as before its just now I feel comfortable recommending their food.
Delicious breve cappuccino! Smooth, strong & flavorful. Not bitter or acidic at all. Excited to have a new coffee stop to look forward when in Woodstock.
This is what all coffee shops were like before the coffee tasted good.
I guess as a historical monument to the 'bad old days' this place can sit as a warning for others.
As an actual coffee shop, I'm not even going to give the coffee a review, it doesn't merit one.
Great coffee kod friendly and a lovely neighborhood vibe!
The tea was delicious and the service was good. They close at 8 pm now which is not reflected online so it meeting was cut short but other than that all good. Week definitely go again sometime... earlier.
This has been my coffee shop since the '90s. Great community coffee shop.
I meet friends here for coffee monthly, good coffee, slightly run-down appearance but comfortable. Lots of seating; it can be noisy and crowded but because of a plethora of places to sit we have always found something. Pastries look good, I don t indulge. They are not made on the premises. They do have little tubs of cereal and some fruit so that is nice.
Great place for relaxing, working, or just hanging out in a nice rainy day
Goodplace to sit and enjoy good coffee and the street scene
The quality of the coffee drinks varies depending on the barista. Bring your patience because they are seriously under staffed a lot of the time. Cool vibe that is welcoming to all.
Rudest cashier ever. My wife, the kids and I went in for a cup of coffee after getting out of the movies. Ordered the same thing I order nearly every day, as that is my neighborhood coffee place and have never had issue until recently, with the same lady behind the counter (glasses, pulled back hair, xmas sweatshirt). After I order, and pull out my phone and state I need to pay with my phone (in which I always pay with there because my chip on the card doesnt work well at all), she exclaims that I need to tell her way before so she can prepare (type the amount in - not exactly difficult to do - its like 5 button pushes). I remind her that I did and that it's actually the barista/cashier's job to remember their repeat customers and she then tells me that "theres no need for attitude and if I don't like it she can ask me to leave".
Shocked by this, all I can think to say is "Are you actually talking to me like this?" She goes on to say that I was being rude to her. I've been going here for over 8 years, and now, dare I say it - Heart or First Cup may very well be getting my business - and anyone that asks if theres coffee nearby from now on, or at least until an apology is made.
Not the worst, not the best. Latte was middle of the road however the almond croissant was tasted stale despite being told it was made today.
I like the atmosphere (look at the mug!) and the lady who took our order was friendly and kind. The black coffee was ok... probably I should try espresso drink next time. ;-)
Great place to study and hang out, they also have a cereal bar. That's pretty cool.
Place has been in the neighborhood a long time, has some pastries and snacks with all the usual coffee combinations. Calm cozy interior with a play area for kids with various reading material. Bar and table seating inside along with various sitting areas with a few tables outside as well. One decent sized fairly clean unisex bathroom, and a parking lot on the side as well as one shared with Safeway. Does get busy inside and out. Coffee is decent.
Bad coffee. Mediocre service. I wish a better coffee shop would come into this great space.
Best coffee shop in Woodstock. Maple bars heated are a special treat. Always a visit here when visiting from Cleveland,Ohio.
Great coffee and pastries and cheerful friendly service.
Great ambience and coffee, decent pastries. I like the community events hosted here -- best open mic nights in Portland. Check them out post-covid!
one if the best coffee places in Portland, really kind workers, chill atmosphere
Papa's has been my favorite coffee place for nearly 10 years. They're kid friendly and the coffee is wonderful.
4.5 Real Rating :-) I tried the papa mocha and it was less sweet in a normal mocha. I thought the coffee to chocolate balance was smooth and done well, and the espresso after taste was not remotely acidic or bitter. Plenty of seating with a kids area, which I've never seen in a coffee shop before. What pushed this over the 4.5 was the baristas, funny, coffee knowledgeable, and super energetic!
Very convenient to the general Woodstock district. Relaxed, "Put your feet up" environment.
The drinks were great, nice customer service. Very quiet shop to sit and talk or study.
Excellent LOCAL coffee house, great barista, good low-key music, free water station to care for wandering passersby, great reading material, and a kids surrounded play area... too cool!
Best neighborhood coffee shop around! Great helping staff!
Best coffee shop in Portland, not a half bad Dirty Chai too.
Covid update: all play areas and seating is out. Order inside m, the barista taps the iPad and processes your payment. Remember to add a tip!
Normal times: There s a kids area in the back with a play kitchen and train table. No drinks allowed in the kids area, so adults (/ drinks) have to stay out of it but you can peer over the wall and have some adult time.
We like the Italian sodas, hot chocolates, and coffee drinks. They have a cereal bar too.
Comfy seating up front and tables to work from in most of the restaurant.
This has been my local coffee shop, reading nook, work spot and more for years. The staff is awesome and the coffee is great. A comfortable and welcoming place to grab coffee with a friend or sit down and get some work done.
Laid back coffee shop. No pretense; just good hot drinks and friendly service. We got hot chocolates, and they were hot and delicious. It's a real neighborhood place, with good wifi. You might see a friend or neighbor (which we did, and said hello and chatted for a bit).
This coffee shop is quite quaint and cozy...nice oversized leather chairs where you can kick your feet up and read or use cell/laptop.quiet and staff is friendly.. They also have a free water station right inside the front door for those extra hot days. Also they are pet friendly with the bowls of water they put down for the animals. Tasty coffee and teas and Italian sodas. Pastries as well. Check it out. Prices equivalent to Starbucks etc...
I go there almost every day and love it. get the apple cider it's good
The coffee is decent, but what I really come for are the English muffin breakfast sandwiches. So tasty!
This is like a neighborhood Gathering point where friends meet friends and neighbors meet neighbor good coffee good food good place to hang out
Really, really good espresso and a cozy little coffee bar!
This is the quintessential neighborhood coffee shop, in absolutely the best way possible. The ambience is cozy with just the right amount of buzz: it's quiet enough to do work but busy enough where you can bring a group and chat
The coffee isn't great, but it's good. On the up side, they have a large selection of pastries and sandwiches. Self serve cereal, as well. Very child friendly with a decent play area.
Excellent locals coffee shop. Fantastic lox bagel. Friendly baristas and good strong coffee.
Ordered a blended latte and they never put espresso in just mix , doesn t taste the same
Never Go Here!! Barista was a snob, super RUDE. and they couldn't accommodate my allergy... Didn't even try. And I'm totally nice. I walked out and went to Otto's.
The right vibe for meeting someone for business, pleasure, or a mix of both. service is astute, friendly, and pays equal attention to regulars and newcomers both. There's a spot for you here.
I've visited this neighborhood coffee house a few times in the last month and each time I am pleased by the friendly staff, quality chai, and warm atmosphere of the patrons. It's kid & pet friendly, casual, with a range of customers young and old. Truly a neighborhood ambiance. Comfortable to work in or hang out to chat with friends. It's a piece of "old Portland" that's thankfully still around.
Very friendly staff, super cool and chill atmosphere. I d come here every morning if I could!
A very good place to get coffee, food, and some work done. Lots seating.
My only suggestion would be that they stay open 24/7, or at least until midnight. Oh, and change the music. They seem to prefer harsh, repetitive instrumentals that drive me out after a couple hours.
If you are in the Woodstock section of Portland this is a good place for coffee.
The ultimate cafe for all things coffee and laptop Nirvana. Enough goodness for everyone here.
Great alternative spot. Good for working. Great coffee.
I love this place. Has a true community feel to it and the staff is really kind.
This is my absolute favorite coffee shop! Great people, and great vibe! I love you Papaccinos!
literally every walk of life is here today all ages, all political affiliations all abilities. they've even fixed the bathroom. they used to have a loud fan that was not accommodating for autistic people. could use some cleaning, but i'll put up with a lot for decent coffee, comfy seating and good service. other coffee shops should take note. you're losing business because people won't tolerate being uncomfortable if they are paying 5$ for a cup of coffee.
Great coffee and very friendly staff too. Nice selections, you can get beer/cider and they also have a cereal bar!
Great locally owned cafe. I patronize their business as often as I can.
