I have worked in the industry for 30+ years, and I can tell you this is one of the best places around. I provided training/education for some of their staff, and every person I met was delightful, professional and caring. Also, the fact that CBV is willing to invest in training their staff is very impressive. They are an authorized Compassionate Touch provider, which reflects their mission to provide excellent care for older adults.

My Mom has been a resident at Central Baptist Village for several years. Starting out in Assisted Living and now in the Skilled Nursing Unit. Throughout her stay, I have been able to rest easy knowing my Mom is in a great facility with a caring staff.
Very caring staff. Excellent safety protocols since the start of the covid 19 virus. Everything Central Baptist Village said they would do, they implemented to keep our family member healthy. Communication to the family is very thorough and timely, we are not left wondering what safety measures are being taken. Thank you for all of your hard work! Our family member is in good hands.
CBV is 3 communities under one roof. Whatever your needs, this facility provides for those who are capable of living independently, need assistance with daily life including special needs like dementia and skilled nursing. There are activities for each area, and some are combined to include all. Shortly before Christmas 2019, our family moved mom to the Terrace within CBV. I felt she could receive better care than where she was living because of her declining cognitive abilities. I was not disappointed. The activity director made a point of including all to participate in the events of the day. Meals are served in a relaxed dining room, with assigned seating so the residents can get to know their table mates. The servers are taught to observe and report eating problems to the nurse. Then COVID hit in March. Mom had been living there only 3 months and now everything changed. We could no longer visit in person. However, almost from the beginning, their IT crews made it possible to Facetime or Skype weekly with the residents by appointment.
I m sad to say that this spring, Mom s condition declined and she had to leave the Terrace and be moved to the Pavilion, skilled nursing. Being in the middle of the pandemic, family members could not help with the move, so the staff took care of everything, packing Mom s belongings and making her new room comfortable with some of her cherished possessions.
Throughout this entire pandemic, the communication was outstanding! There were daily updates by email stating all that was being done to keep the residents and staff safe. The transparency of the communication was impressive. They reached out to family members of the residents to help however they were able purchase goodies for Easter baskets, sew masks for the residents, and more. We were all in this together! Outdoor visits soon started. Tents were constructed in the Memory Garden and parking lots. Registering online for a visit could not have been easier.
The community is a warm, friendly environment staffed by people who truly care, not only about their residents, but about the family members too. If you are considering CBV for an aging member of your family, I believe they will love living here. My only regret is we didn t move Mom here FIRST when she could no longer live alone. It took living at a different facility to realize there is better out there. We found it at CBV.
Central Baptist Village is wonderful and amazing. My mother has been a resident for several years. Safety and great care are their top priorities. The staff is very caring and the communication is outstanding. We couldn't be more grateful.
We have been familiar with Central Baptist Village for more than 15 years. The care and concern our 2 family members received was unmatched. When it came time for my mom to move, the location was a "no brainer". Many staff members remember my Grandmother and Great Aunt from years prior! What really set Central Baptist apart is the incredible , proactive response to the COVID pandemic. By following best practices set forth by IDPH they have been able to keep the Residents and employees healthy and safe. For that we are forever grateful.
As a professional, who has been entrusted with providing resources for the special care of your loved ones in communities for over 25 years, I can reassure you that Central Baptist Village is a wonderful community which excels in compassionate care
During these challenging times with COVID-19, Central Baptist Village has taken precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of their residents, staff and family members. They are quick to address all concerns.
Central Baptist Village provides a caring environment. They bring a personal touch to each resident.. They have an exceptional dedicated staff committed to improve the community experience for residents.
I can t describe how wonderful this place is. I visited a multitude of organizations when searching for a living solution for my mother in law and this place was heads and tails above all others. Their staff is caring and consistent. The for profit facilities I toured seemed to be staffed by short term employees who were just trying to make a sale. During the current medical scare their care has been unbelievable. Protocols and communication put their residents and staff in a great position. Would give 6 stars if I could. As a lifelong Catholic the Christian ideals and dignity here are quite welcome.
As the head of a creative agency that has worked with a lot of healthcare companies, I am completely impressed with Central Baptist Village. You can tell there is a genuine passion for caring for the elderly. Nobody is collecting a check there. I've seen first hand how nice everyone is, how caring they are and how well run the organization is. In fact, when I become elderly and need assisted living, this is the place I want to call home.
My mother has been at Central Baptist Village 16 years- starting in independent living and moving progressively into higher levels of care. Today she is in the memory unit. The care at Central Baptist Village has been outstanding through the years. During the last 3.5 months of Covid 19, my mother has been kept safe and the staff have done an amazing job of providing physical and emotional support for my mother. I could not be more satisfied. During this period, Central Baptist Village has been providing daily updates regarding testing and results of testing. Central Baptist Village also made arrangements for me to Skype with my mother so I could stay connected during this non visiting period. I firmly believe Central Baptist Village to be the best facility in the area. I recommend it to anyone looking for care for family and loved ones.
My mother moved to Central Baptist Village from out of state in late 2017. She started out in the independent living wing and now lives in assisted living, and in both areas she has been welcomed and treated with respect. The staff considers her individual needs and accommodates my special requests regarding her care. She is encouraged to participate in the many activities they offer, and the environment is very community oriented. In many ways, my mom is better off than when she moved in 2.5 years ago.
It is worth mentioning that in 2019-20, CBV was rated a Best Nursing Home by U.S. News & World Report, and multiple times has been named one of The Chicago Tribune Top Workplaces. The latter award is based on employees' evaluations of their employers and is reflected in the low turnover rate of staff, which translates to better, more consistent, resident care. I highly recommend this community for faith-based senior living.
Our parents found a home and caring community at Central Baptist Village. Each and every staff member has been patient, kind, and respectful. They have gone out of their way to find new ways for us to engage with our parents even if we can t be with them in person during the pandemic. We ve had FaceTime video chats, glass door and tent visits, and of course phone calls. Although we can t be together, we still have the opportunity to connect with them as best as possible. They ve also helped us celebrate important milestones like Mother s Day/Father s Day, birthdays and anniversaries. I would highly recommend them if you re looking for a senior community.
I visited Central Baptist Village and was very impressed! The facility is large with lots of resident lounges, computer areas, a huge chapel, library, dining room, sunroom and many more places to gather and have activities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The residents I spoke with say they truly enjoy their living experience.
We toured Central Baptist Village for our dad who is 86 and moving back to Chicago from Las Vegas. Adriana toured us and she was very helpful and gave us a lot of good information. We liked that they have all levels of care if my dad should need assisted living or nursing down the road. Very nice retirement community.
I am a Geriatric Care Manager. I have had clients at Central Baptist Village for years and the staff at CBV has never failed to live up to and very often surpass my expectations in their level of care and genuine concern for the residents. I know that when I refer a family to CBV they will be taken care of, no matter what level of care they need. So, especially during this very trying time with Covid -19 I give my heartfelt thanks and praise to everyone working there and doing everything they can to keep residents and staff safe.
As a staff member at Central Baptist Village, I can say with great confidence that this is a place staffed by people who truly care about improving the lives of older adults. Upon completing my Masters in Social Work and beginning the job interview process, the number one thing I looked for in a potential job is an employer who holds the same passion for serving older adults as I do. CBV's staff members go above and beyond to not only ensure that residents are well-cared for, but that they feel a sense of purpose and a great deal of love in their new homes. It brings me tremendous joy to see residents enjoying their golden years in a clean, safe, and welcoming community!
CBV is more than amazing. Both my parents lived there prior to my mother's passing though seperate as she had Alzheimer's where she had the most excellent. I'm saddened by the negative reviews as they are not subject to the highest level of care with utmost compassion I've witnessed and seems to be a disgruntled prior employee that has a vendetta who lowered their score with different emails as it truly is more than 5 stars in my opinion. I don't live local but my sister does when we decided on the exemplary care shortly after they came from Connecticut and am so grateful we did. My father has traveled through every available option and stage of living accomodation and each os top-notch.
My mother was a resident of CBV for years; starting in her own apartment, assisted living and in the memory loss section. She enjoyed her time there and participated in their many daily activities and services. I would visit almost daily and she was always well cared form served nutritional meals, and kept busy. Highly recommend.
I am so incredibly impressed by the staff, facilities, programs and philosophy of care at Central Baptist Village. When I discovered CBV it was exactly what I want for my parents: a community that approaches each individual in a holistic manner and equally prioritizes physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual well-being. The communication by administration and staff with family during the pandemic was phenomenal. I highly recommend CBV!
My Mom moved into Central Baptist after living with me for ten months, after her stroke. Mom was always very active, walking 3 miles a day, etc. and while living with me after her stroke she was just going from one couch to the other and sleeping all day. I moved her to Central Baptist a few years ago and she is absolutely thriving there. She loves it! She has her own apartment, walks to the gazebo within the grounds and reads, sits by the fireplace in the winter, loves the library filled with her favorite authors and has made so many friends! She enjoys bingo, the exercise classes, art classes and other activities. She's constantly on the go, which is a wonderful thing! She has her independence, yet we know that she is being well cared for. All of the employees know her and take such great care of her...she even made the cover of the brochure - you go Mom! All of the caregivers are wonderful, it feels like a loving family there. I couldn't have found a better place for her. Thank you!!!! Karen (her favorite daughter)
Very clean and super friendly staff. Always cared for residents and made them feel at home. I recommend this place if you re looking for a senior home for a loved one.
I would give 10 stars if I could. I researched dozens of residences in 2 states before deciding on Central Baptist Village, and there's no comparison. My dear Mom has been residing at CBV for about 6 years now, first at Independent Living and now in Memory Care, and her health and stability are perfectly supported with the incredible staff at CBV. Finding a residence that would support her from Independent through Nursing and Hospice as needed was essential to me ... the last thing anyone wants to do late in life is change where home is.
CBV is laid out like a small town, with good walking options, plenty of independence for their residents, while still offering many levels of support. Many activities are available, even in Memory Care, which my Mom loves. I visited other locations where the activities were mostly lip-service - here the activities are solidly based in physical and mental exercise, as well as fun and music, including visits and trips as available.
My mom has had some physical issues over the years, and the staff at Central Baptist Village always goes above and beyond. They are very communicative, I feel like I am part of my Mom's care team, down to the little things. When I visit in person, I enjoy talking with the folks who work there and the sincerity of their efforts is very real.
If you are concered about how to find a home for your relative during these Covid times, this is also the place I would recommend, very highly. Their response to the coronavirus situation has been incredible. Everyone, staff and resident, is masked, routinely tested, and is distancing, yet they have still put in the effort to set up weekly video conference calls and scheduled outdoor visits for families to safely see each other. I am relieved that my Mom is in such safe surrounds.
I could go on ... good food, enjoyable surroundings, very clean establishment. I highly recommend Central Baptist Village and am so grateful to have them involved our family's life.
I am a retired RN living in Chicago. My daughter-in-law asked me to tour Central Baptist Village several years ago and report my impressions to her, as her mother was planning a long distance move to the Chicago area. I was IMMEDIATELY impressed with the design and physical layout of the facility, with the friendliness and caring staff, and with the wide range of personal activities available for the residents. I reported back to their family my strong "thumbs-up". The excellent reports from them confirm my initial impression: Central Baptist Village is a very special place.
Clean facilities, friendly, well-trained staff. Very inclusive culture. We toured many facilities and this was the one that excelled in all areas. They provide a continuum of services and memory care. There is very little staff turn-over with staff which tells me staff are happy. Residents are treated with respect.
After intensively researching nursing homes, we chose Central Baptist Village for my aunt and for my mother. That was 15 years ago. A perfect choice. Every aspect of CBV focuses on the resident and his/her needs and comfort in a clean safe and cheerful environment. This is not an exaggeration: the meals are really good. There are unique and personalized activities for all levels of participation. The residents are able to worship on-site at a beautiful chapel. Further, the administration is responsive to input and suggestions from the residents and their families. My suggestion is to visit CBV. You will be impressed.
My family and I are so impressed with the excellent, loving care my mother receives. We know she is in very capable hands, and that is a relief for us. My mom is much happier here and raves about the food. I would recommend Central Baptist Village to anyone who has a loved one who needs the services they provide. You will not be disappointed.
I've worked there for 4 years and it's a great place from my view. The food is great. The staff people are friendly and helpful. Nurses are knowledgeable and treat you well. Everyone feels like family. When my time comes, I would live there.
My Mother, Jean, had lived within another facility for 5 years, a place where I thought she would be able to "age in place". However, when it was evident that the quality of the care she received was deteriorating, compromising her safety, I knew that I needed to make the tough decision to facilitate a move elsewhere. Any change in the residence and routine of the elderly is a difficult adjustment, especially in my Mother's case due to her progressing Alzheimer's Disease. Working in the health care industry, I associate with a number of individuals who have extensive experience with care facilities. With no exaggeration: EVERY SINGLE PERSON I spoke to recommended Central Baptist Village. From the moment I walked into the door, through moving day and now, a year later I am confident that I had finally found the place where Mom could live happily and safely. First impressions are pivotal, and the time, patience and compassion shown by Gail streamlined the admission process. During my tour, it was evident that the entire facility was immaculately clean. I was introduced to numerous staff members, both leaders and direct care personnel, all of whom greeted me warmly. I was able to explore the area where Mom would live, and immediately felt that the residents and staff members of the Commons had bonded as a family. Staff turnover throughout Central Baptist Village is minimal, which provides excellent continuity for residents and indicates that the facility is a great place to work. Those in Leadership positions guide their staff by example, with recognition to Jolanta, Amy and Edna who have provided loving guidance to my Mother, and updates regarding any needs or changes in Jean's status to me. Although Mom's adjustment was initially tough, she grew to trust the staff members who treated her with such caring and respect. She is truly and completely happy with her life and the activities that keep her interested and motivated each day. Further of note: during the challenges of COVID, the facility's response has been stellar. Thanks to the attention to detail and adherence to CDC guidelines, my Mother and her peers have remained healthy. They were in full isolation during some important holidays (i.e. Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day), however, special celebrations were held that made the holidays festive despite the lack of in-person family interaction. Video visits are provided by appointment, and as I complete this review, an efficient process by which visits can be held outdoors has been established. I am hoping that Mom's Alzheimer's Disease progresses very slowly so that she may remain in her current level of care as long as appropriate. However, I know that should this not be the case, she will receive the support she needs within the 3 levels of Dementia care provided within the Community. Please know: entrusting your loved one to Central Baptist Village will provide peace of mind knowing that they are safe, they are happy, and they are loved.
Central Baptist Village is an exceptional facility. The staff have been very attentive to my mother's needs and they are very responsive to phone calls and requests. They follow up and get back to you quickly and they send out frequent updates via email so we know what is going on. My mother enjoys the meals and variety of food they prepare and overall it is a well run facility. The staff care about providing quality care and ensuring the relatives of those they are caring for are well informed.
My mom has been here for almost six years, and the SBV staff has always been dedicated and kind, and they came to know my mom and her needs very well. But this past year, during the pandemic, I appreciated my mom's caretakers even more.
Families were informed through daily and weekly email reports about everything that was going on, how activities were altered, what safety measures were taken, how everyone (resident or staff member) was doing, without violating privacy. Every effort was made to keep families in touch with residents by phone, Facetime, outdoor or vestibule visits, and of course, by mail.
We love Central Baptist Village. Ever since our Mom arrived about three years ago, every staff member has been extremely caring and willing to assist her in whatever way they can. Everyone calls Mom by her first name, which creates a familial feeling. During every one of our visits, we ve experienced firsthand the compassionate environment that CBV has carefully created for our Mom as well as us.
The apartments are spacious and beautifully laid out. The huge windows in the living room keep the apartment bright all day, with large windowsills that enable Mom to be surrounded by her flower garden. Sunlight also streams in through large windows in sitting areas placed throughout all the hallways that makes them feel like home. We ve often enjoyed chatting in one area or sitting at a table playing games in another. And the outdoor environment is just as thoughtfully designed for taking strolls to the Koi pond with Mom and relaxing under the gazebo there. We appreciate that CBV understands the value of Ecotherapy!
The concept of the levels of care, with separate buildings for each, provides us comfort in knowing that our Mom can remain at CBV. With that said, we also feel confident about our Mom s health and well-being at CBV as staff carefully follows guidelines that continue to enable her to remain safe from COVID. Staff has also strategized ways to enable us to safely visit Mom in-person as well as remain connected through weekly, family FaceTime calls. We are forever grateful for CBV s willingness to make this happen for us.
We just can t say enough great things about CBV and its wonderful staff and programming.
I am so happy I chose CBV as my mom s new home in 2014. The staff goes above and beyond the call of duty to care for their residents. My mom has thanked me many times for choosing CBV because she not only feels well cared for, but she feels loved. The team has done an amazing job during this pandemic of protecting residents from the virus. They have kept families well informed and have been creative in keeping us connected with our loved ones.
Toured the facility with my girlfriend looking for a place for her mother. This place was much nicer than the places I looked at for my own mother. Clean, friendly people with plenty of activities and amenities.
Central Baptist has provided a loving, caring home for my Mom. They were incredible during the pandemic - working tirelessly to keep their residents safe and did their best to allow as much interaction with family as possible.
I have worked in the home care industry and elder continuum for 20 years. It's delightful to see clients and families chose a quality community when home care is not selected or is no longer an option. Referrals THRIVE in a community that supports their residents, families and all the associates that work at CBV. This is a strong team that delivers what they say they will provide--quality and customer service throughout the community and in all levels of care.
Central Baptist Village is a bright, clean, and welcoming facility that has taken exceptional care of my father. My already incredibly positive impression of Central Baptist Village has skyrocketed in their handling of COVID-19. They acted swiftly in implementing protective policies and have had zero residents who have tested positive to date. They have also managed to plan all kinds of fun things to keep their residents engaged and happy. I highly recommend Central Baptist Village!
My grandfather is a resident at Central Baptist Village and I wanted to take the time to write a review for those questioning this facility as an option for their loved one. I work in healthcare and have previous experience working in a skilled nursing facility. This facility is unique in so many positive ways. Nursing homes typically have a bad reputation. They are caring for the elderly with complex care needs. Central Baptist Village has proved to exceed my expectations as they continue to provide excellent care for my grandfather. We had previously had him at another facility before transitioning his care to CBV and these facilities are night and day.
Environment: The environment is inviting from the moment you walk in the door. On the weekends, it is not uncommon to see families everywhere in the common areas spending time with their loved ones. It is refreshing to see. At his previous facility, he was often alone in his room and now can be found in one of the many activity rooms. (Note: this is pre-Covid 19)
Staff: They always continue to go above and beyond for my grandfather. They always provide the best care for him. Staff make it a point to get to know him and my family. If we are taking him out for the day, they always make sure he is ready to go and think of all the extra supplies that come along with a day trip. My family can sleep at night knowing the staff have his best interest in mind. The ancillary staff (activities, social work, PT/OT) are always encouraging him to participate in activities with other residents and he is truly never alone in his room thanks to them.
COVID-19 response: the media has done a great job of making sure they cover the facilities who have had cases but what they have not featured is CBV's residents have not had any cases! CBV has proved themselves as they have put the safety of their residents first.
From my own experience in health care, these are two very important characteristics of a great facility. Take a tour and see for yourself what a wonderful place Central Baptist Village is for your loved one.
UPDATE: Since Covid outbreak I'm concerned with a loved one in close quarters. We made it from February to November before a breakout occurred in NP2, nursing care. Now in everyone at CBV the received first shot of vaccine. Second inoculations soon.
My experiences (preCV19)are limited to unannounced visits, phone calls and emails. I have visited weekly over the past months since admission. So far I have no real complaints, except for their "Fall Protocol". No constraint/restraint means falls might happen. We're on #6... Communication is good and I feel like part of a team. Getting the insurances, billing group and PCP synchronized is still a challenge.
I've attend the Saturday caregivers seminars which are very helpful.
Always clean, tidy and no urine smells. Durable floor coverings throughout, an important detail in construction.
The activities seem helpful for those who participate. Bingo, Wheel of Fortune (hangman) and a sound identity game were stimulating. Calming sessions offers hand rubs with lotion and mellow music...Sleeping in semi-private rooms can be problematic with a noisy neighbor, however.
While I'm apprehensive about handing over care and large sums of money each month, but of the dozen homes I looked into, CBV was the one I would stay at. Resident meals seem of good quality and presented tastefully.
Check out the cafe open to the public for a sample of the cooking for guests. Food is fresh, healthy and NOT overcooked like hospital food.
Update; this past weekend's Grandparents day was fun. The dunk tank, live singing group, bubble magician, photo booth, popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream and kids and elders had everyone really enjoying themselves.
CBV didn't have to do that, but reaffirmed my decision to place my loved one there.
Our mother-in-law spent a little over 6 weeks here in rehab after a hip fracture. The care she received was excellent. She had been living alone prior to her surgery and is mentally sharp. The nursing staff and aides were friendly, caring, compassionate, and very understanding of the challenges of this age group. Everyone was incredibly kind. The physical and occupational therapists pushed her to do a little more each day - which she needed - and she was able to be discharged and is now enjoying assisted living.
Wonderful, caring staff without a frequent turnover like other places. They truly care for their resident's well being. We have had a relative in this facility since 2013 and are more than pleased with the care and attention they receive.
Appearance is everything and from the outside looking in it looks like a nice clean facility, but like every facility they do have mice's and bugs not as bad as some places I've been but they're there. Staff treats resident just like any other place no difference nurses too. I liked how the work load is light and easy yet the employees still complain if only they knew how easy they got it. The employees are not nice they are not friendly nor are they welcoming, very cold atmosphere. Rude nurses and the night cnas are the worst everything is about seniority and because everyone is related there they are all in cahutes with each other lot's of gossip and within seconds everyone knows your business, so your basically out numbered no room for growth. My advice is if you choose to work there great because the work load is easy but don't get comfortable especially with the staff.
My father has been a resident at CBV for just about two years and the care he received is exceptional. All staff know him and me by name, right up to the CEO, whom has personally engaged me in casual conversations in passing about my dad. People here care and it shows - at every level. They are compassionate, responsive and professional. CBV allows my dad to enjoy life at his pace and ability, and care for him at his level of need appropriately. I would highly recommend CBV for any one whom needs assisted, memory and nursing care - and any family who wants peace of mind knowing their loved one is in the best of hands.
