Upscale dinner food with all day breakfast and a few Mexican specialties. Spacious and rustic interior. Outdoor seating, but on a trafficky street with blank walls across the way. Friendly staff.

A hip place to eat near the corner of Hayes and Van Ness street. This place seems to be busy all the time from lunch all the way to closing time.

The food is served in good sized portions and are very hearty and delicious, from their chicken to their lasagna. You can even order a gigantic cookie or bread pudding to cap your meal with a sweet dessert.

There is seating available inside and outside, and an eclectic mix of chairs and sofas in the middle too for those who want the feel of a cozy house setting. The Grove is a good place to go to, whether it's for lunch or a late night meal or rendezvous.

Super yummy food!! Came here with hubby before the Opera... super close... food is amazing, super well served and delicious (highly recommended before the opera!!)
We each ordered sandwiches and trust me if you are not that hungry you can share... or eat one each and definitely last a 4 hour opera ...

I will be coming back again...

On a side note this like bistro style where you order up front then take your number and they take your food to your table... the waiter still came and made sure our meal was going great!!

Great place to grab breakfast or lunch. A lot of people who work in the neighborhood come here regularly. Menu is reasonably priced and has very good selections of meal and desserts. I love their smoke salmon sandwich which was pretty good, it is served with scrambled egg inside. The space is nice and inviting, you can also sit outside on a sunny day.

The customer service here was sublime and the food was great. The Chicken Lime Tortilla soup was fantastic and their Mac and Three Cheese was extremely tasty. The pasta has a dash of curry, which the manager was extremely kind enough to let us know. He also gave us a complementary chili, which was awesome.

Great spot to meet to catch up with friends over a freshly made salad or sandwich or discuss a work product with colleagues. The house music can be a bit much depending on the time of day but you hardly notice it once you are engaged. Also a good place for solo diners. Reasonable prices for SF.

Good food, casual environment. You walk up to a counter to order and there is a good assortment of American comfort food like grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, and other sandwiches, salads, and entrees. They do serve alcohol as well. It's a little pricey but about the norm for the area.

The Grove Hayes is a good cafe/restaurant for all occasions. I tried it out as a late night substitute for a bar - that's when you get older and you don't want to drink on a school night after dinner. Instead, you prefer your hot chocolate or cafe latte in a nice and cozy setting. Erm yes, that's me nowadays.

Great for groups and single hangouts as such, you'll find a seat on one of the many wooden tables, order from a variety of food and drink items at the counter, and enjoy a good time with friends or with your book. The theme is 'American', I liked the rugged flags, guitars, and band posters. Overall nicely done.

Food-wise you can expect everything you'd consider "American" - breakfast all day, sandwiches, burgers, cheesesteak, meatballs, and so on. I haven't tried the food but it looks inviting and I will do so next time.

Fast service, large portions, huge menu selection with breakfast served all day. The dishes are not the best you ll ever try but also not expensive either. Great spot for groups to get together and for comfort food.

Salad was good but it was a to go order and not nearly enough dressing. It took over 20 minutes to make a salad. Well not 20 minutes, it sat on the shelf, with plenty of staff walking by it but no one bother with it until I finally asked. Disappointed in the service and for 14.50 I should get more dressing than 1/2 of a to go cup. Not sure if I would go back.

Great place for lunch. The service was fast and the food tasty. I ordered the poached eggs on avocado toast with a tall glass of lemonade. The meal also included a side salad and for the price it was well worth it! The eggs were poached perfectly and they were more than generous with the avocado. The side salad was a simple mixed greens salad with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing tossed in and was a nice addition to complete the meal. Overall, it was a very filling and healthy lunch in Hayes Valley.

We came here for lunch and luckily there was seating for our group. Everyone was pretty pleased with the salads and sandwiches. Lunch times usually get busy though, so plan on getting there early if you have a large party.

Interesting seating arrangements. You can have a sofa with ottomans, intimate station by the fireplace or traditional table/booth by a window. The menu is varied, you order at the counter and they bring the food pretty quickly. It was piping hot, very good and not too pricey. Restrooms were clean, a must. I'll be back:)

I love this place- great, affordable, but nice diverse menu, we find something for everyone. It was hard for us to find a good, quick dinner place with nice enough food, beer, wine, and this seems to be the only place we could find. A little loud but spacious so you can probably find a quiet corner.

This is the location over in Hayes Valley. I like this place. I was attracted initially because it always seemed to be full. Coffee is worthy, and I like a few of the sandwiches. My only beef with the Grove is the 30 min wifi limit. Seems pretty thrifty given that all the other coffee shops offer unlimited!

I love this place. Great food and a lot of variety. I love the atmosphere here too. It can get very crowded and the last time we came here we had to jump on a table just as people were leaving it. But it's fun to people watch here and the tables are cozy. Just a great place. Last time I was here I had the avocado toast and french onion soup and both were just so warm and lovely. Great comfort food!!

Very pleasant place for brunch or dinner. They even serve "Three twins" ice cream. The chicken enchilada is quite good. Only downside, their service is not the most amicable one with some sort of attitude. Shame...

Was there last night (June 2nd) with friends . We ordered a lot of food, most of which was relatively tasty....HUGELY DISAPPOINTED with the tiny slice of cherry pie they put in a to go box...It looked like half a slice...for $7.00 !!!!
I complained, and they claimed it was 1/8 of a pie...More like 1/16th!
A tiny slice..for $7.00 ?????!!
Never going back for that reason alone!

Food was decent. I had the chicken pot pie, which was essentially chicken soup with a fake crust, a slightly flaky layer of dough on top. It was a little disappointing as the crust is supposed to be the best part!

Ok

The Grove is a big place on the corner, informal and fun, with a variety food for all tastes and diets. Six of us shared a table with others, which I like, but the seats were not comfortable. Portions were adequate, food was tasty, a special order was taken in stride, prices were high (as is typical of this neighborhood and places like this), service was good enough. It wasn't amazing, but we had a good time here. I would return, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.
