Fantastic food and service, best steak I have ever had
This pub provides a carvery plus a wide menu of other food, all at very reasonable prices. (January 2009)
Great food, nice play area, bouncy Castle and a small maze for the kids to play in. Some dishes have a "smaller appetite" for those not so hungry.
Lovely family pub with a great outdoor space for children
Went twice in a week for dinner and got an amazing meal (and desserts) both times, without having to wait too long. Lots of seating available and staff are very kind.
Lovely place..Good carvery with excellent outdoor area for the children complete with maze
Wonderful pub, amazing food and lovely staff. Couldn't ask for anything else, always a highlight on our visits to the island
Kids loved the play area. Good and service were good.
Came here on Easter Sunday at 5pm. Food was very underwhelming. Took long to arrive (place was at half capacity). 10oz IoW rump steak lacked flavour and was average. Burger w cheddar and bacon was average or below. Had to scrape off the cheddar and left the so called brioche bun on the side. Only the fish and chips got away with a good rating. Sauces like ketchup, mustard, mayo all come in packets like at your corner kebab shop. Even by pub standards (and there are lots of pub with great food!) this was low. Seems there's no love for food at this place. Would definitely never eat hear again
Awesome place . good food . funny people . I am going back again next time I land.
We loved it here, great choice of food, vegetarian and meat eaters, kids menu lots of choice too. Great food, fast service.
Lovely food, it was our first time here. Great. friendly service. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
Popped in after a visit to the cider barn.
Me and my husband chose to have a sandwich each. I ordered them at the bar with our drinks. Very good sandwiches and at reasonable prices. We also had a bowl of chips to share. Only had to wait 5 minutes and the food was ready. We have been here ages ago and enjoyed the visit on both occasions. Well done to everyone at the Griffin.
We go there twice a week for their delicious value for money carvery
Went for breakfast just before 11am. Nice big pub with plenty to occupy the kids in the garden. Visited again at 7pm on a Sunday. Clear that Sunday lunches are very popular with lots of young families. Still, staff are efficient and friendly and food decent enough.
Wonderful place with great food and play areas for kids.
Very friendly staff lovely food would go again if in the area.
Great food, well presented, reasonably priced, family and dog friendly so I have nothing to fault it on at all
Just delightful staff, and quality food worth travelling to. Best to book a table. Lovely carvery three days of the week as well.
Great food, good value and a lovely garden, with a maze!
We went here yesterday and enjoyed it so much we went out of our way to go today.. this is because we have an active 2year old who needs entertaining! The garden is beautiful and food is great. Some of the outdoor equipment is tierd but useable, but the food and friendly staff make up for that.
If you have children I would recommend this pub whole heartedly.
We will be back in October!
Good pub for a carvery always plenty of fresh veg nicely cooked, wednesdays fridays and sundays, not too expensive.
Carvery was nice and a good price. Good beer and a maze in the garden!
Great place for families, the food is excellent and staff are very friendly. It's best to book a table as it is very popular. Plenty of things for the kids to play on in the garden. 2 different sized carvery plates available for those who want a wonderful roast dinner!
Went here for Christmas dinner with my partner and our 4 boys (1,2,7 and 9) gorgeous food, a very warm welcome and such a family friendly pub, plus it was nice and quiet. Would definitely go back again when we next visit the isle of wight
Excellant carvery reasonably priced and friendly staff
Lovely steak... Best chips I've EVER eaten, and friendly staff.. WONDER FUL evening.... In fact going again tonight THIRD night in a row!
Food was ok...lip stick stains on the wine glasses very off putting. As was the dirty ladies bathroom.
Great pub! Typical pub food but all really tasty with good kids menu. BUT one if the best pubs for kids that I've been to, games, puzzles and toys inside, large grassy beer garden with bouncey castle, maze and climbing frame outside...and you can purchase a football or bubble mixture too. My idea of a good pub has changed in recent years I admit but I'll be back to visit again soon.
Great family Pub. Lovely sunny garden with a cool maze for the kids to play in
Fantastic food friendly staff I would highly recommend this inn for excellent food and drink 6 stars for all of us
Had my birthday meal there today it was a lovely meal friendly staff very nice place 6*
Nice place to go for food. Good choice on menu. Prices are pretty reasonable.
We were impressed by the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The food was freshly prepared , plentiful and of good quality. What we enjoyed was the quiet area. Much appreciated by groups without children. Thank you for a pleasant experience.
Lovely Roast Dinner, staff were friendly really good value for money. Thank you
Fantastic food, really great looking pub, friendly staff and good selection of Beers, Ciders and spirits
Lovely family pub with great food at affordable prices. We visited for dinner and breakfast during our weeks stay in Isle of Wight and also ate at the sister pub The Horse and Groom. At both places the staff were lovely and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Brillaint food with a great play area for the children to have fun and be safe
Pub is nice and clean but mens cubicle in toilet now light on was rather dark in there
Great family pub set in the beautiful village of Godshill. Decent food at decent prices.
Good outdoor area for kids. Food was ok - decent fayre for a pub but nothing special.
I've been coming here for years. Love Godshill and this is a great place for a carvery on a Sunday.
Lovely spacious pub in a lovely location. Dog and child friendly . Large garden with a maze to loose the kids in. Kids play area. Good food in general. Very good value for money carvery three times a week. Muddy dogs and boots welcome
The food was good and the waitresses did what they can to make it covid friendly as much as possible. Unfortunately management had a different approach with a lot of tables and forcing people to move. Not ideal.
Been twice to here and really can not say how good the food was. Everything was fresh and really tasty. Staff were really helpful and could not do enough to ensure everything was ok. This was a great place to eat and a pub that really caters well for families.
Good pub and grub. Excellent garden to the rear if the sun is shining.
We always enjoy coming to The Griffin for lunch. It is our first port of call when coming over from the main land.
Long wait at the bar, moody staff, food was mediocre. Main negative was being kicked off our table even though it was 15 mins after the next booking was supposed to arrive and they still hadn't arrived when we left. Good kids area.
Lovely location, fabulous food, helpful staff, family freindly, Would definitely recommend
Friendly staff, good very good, place is kept very clean
Food was good, all ordered with no problems and everything was available. Nice restaurant area and they allow dogs.
Lovely family pub with great service and even better pub grub!
Booked for Sunday carvery as mid week carvery looked amazing. BIG MISTAKE!!! We booked fore 1.30 and when we got to the carvery there was only Gammon left, food debris all over floor, accident waiting to happen !!!!! Never again.
Great food. Great for kids. Lots of fun. Bouncy castle. Play area and a maze
Great food delivered fast and pleasant, happy staff.
Nice and spacious family restaurant with a large garden. The garden includes a maze, small football pitch and a bouncy castle to keep the kids entertained. Specials board and local dishes as well as your normal pub classics x
Friendly staff, great drinks and food. Lovely garden area in the good weather.
Lovely food, staff friendly and helpful, good value for money.
Pleasant friendly, a warm welcome from the staff and lovely food.
Looking from at the front entrance which had not been swept and had weeds growing we almost turned away. However once inside we were pleasantly surprised. The garden at the back is large and well kept with lots for the kids to play on.
The ploughmans had two enormous pieces of cheddar and stilton. Enough to feed two!
Bad staffing! Let dogs in that ain't blind or hearing! Food very poor! And we'll the drink seems watered down!! ALong with a very bad smeel! I would recommend either this pub or there other the horses and groom!! Very poor
