A large, old public House in Godshill. A haven of tranquility in a busy tourist area. Good food, reasonably priced, good service, friendly staff. Large garden as well when the weather is clement.

Went there for a Sunday carvery last week and the food was splendid. We went again this week, this time with a group of 6, and food was still such a good standard. We good a host of different meals and no one had anything to complain about. Serving sizes were very good! This time we stayed for pudding which was quite sickly but so nice! The priced here are also pretty reasonable!

food was fine: we had one beef burger and one vegetarian burger, both ok (3*). apple crumble was very good (4*). covid-19 protection measures ridiculously absent: ordes taken at the counter, with crowds of customers queueing and socialising there, at the expense of those having their tables next to it. nobody wearing masks, no one way system for patrons. felt on the edge from the moment we were seated to the time we left. afraid this is a no-go at present times

An absolutely lovely pub with a warm welcome, and a great selection of beers. The cloudy apple cider is brilliant. Also, very generous portions of food when you order a meal.
A great place to visit when in Godshill.

We were actually headed for The Traverer just a few doors down which has highest ratings of any pub on the island but with two children in tow my partner was swayed by the offer of a maze, play area and bouncy castle. Staff were nice, food on menu was bulk standard but specials board had good options which came fast and were hearty fare. Maze was ok, a bit easy for adults but kids enjoyed racing around, play area was not so good, bouncy castle was small but again kids loved it, there was a big grass garden to run around in too, so although I was disappointed we didn't get to go to the Traverer I have to give a good review. I got the feeling they were acutely aware of their completion so were working hard to be competitive and it worked.

Went here last night with all the family and the family dog. Food was excellent and really tasty. Clean plates for everyone. My Grandkids really enjoyed running round the maze and the kiddies play area. When we used to come on regular holidays to the Isle of Wight this was always a good place to go and eat, it's nice to see it is still as good. Definitely go here for a meal if in or near Godshill.

We had an evening meal here on 2nd of November. I had 3 Hunter Chicken meal and it was the best one I have had on the Isle of Wight. A really good amount of food on the plate and it was all excellent. We had a family gathering there in August and it was absolutely heaving in there, but despite that fact, we all got our meals inside 15 minutes and the quality and portions were very good. We can thoroughly recommend The Griffin.

It was a quiet Sunday early evening, pub was not too busy, friendly staff and quick service, ordered the 5oz isle of wight rump as it was reasonably priced which came with chips, onion rings, salad and grilled tomatoes, was disappointed that the steak was as tough as old boots, the rest of the meal was lovely though.

The maze was good for the kids and food was presented lovely.
But the staff were scruffy, during virus they were not wearing masks, visors or gloves. the garden was messy and did not present very well.
Staff had no uniform, wearing different branded clothing, not their own, seemed a little unprofessional.

Had an excellent family meal today. Carvery was superb - all fresh and tasty with moist turkey and an excellent range of well-cooked vegetables. Everyone was very happy with their meals. There is a good range of desserts included in the 2 course option. Well worth a visit. Don t miss this gem. We will be back x

When we visited here, we went for a Sunday carvery and it was delicious. The place was super busy, and the carvery only had one gentleman working on it, the poor guy was run off his feet. Really should have had someone to help him for an hour or so to help with the rush during lunch time, but he certainly handled it well. Hats off to him.

We absolutely loved our meals the best pub (actually better than pub) I've even eaten (I'm 65). The staff could not do enough for you. Very glad to recommend The Griffin Family Inn *****

Fantastic place and friendly staff. The place has a cool medieval look to the outside while cosy inside. Has a great maze in the garden to explore. The food was good, I had the glazed ham and others had the steak. The chocolate brownie was lovely.

Would recommend highly!
