At least on a business need I get the opportunity to travel a lot, Gresham was my home away from home for about 3 months when I was on deputation in Dublin in 2015.
My only problem with the European hospitality industry is that its way too different from the rest of the world. In a four star hotel like Gresham (that also with a corporate tie up), there is nothing extra service or gesture that you get.
Every time when I arrived here (or during checkout) there were not a single Hotel Porter, once when I asked explicitly the answer was a "rude" no. The housekeeping staffs are very rude here, I remember when I asked for an extra adapter plug housekeeping informed me that only one is allowed per guest , very rudely. There were instance where house keeping use to literally command me with a finger on lips gesture when I was passing through corridor while answering a call on my cell phone.
In a corporate tie up front desk officer once asked me for the security deposit, and when I informed him that I have not carried that much of cash in hand, he denied check in.
Well there are much other foul stories that I can write but there are definitely some positive side of this hotel. The proximity to the main town, temple bar and easy accessibility to LUAS, taxis and buses and even DART is just 10 minutes away.
The best part I like here is the breakfast spread.
I am not sure when I will get next chance to come to Dublin, but I would seriously not prefer staying here.
