The room was big, which is a bonus but on a cold night in October the solitary radiator underneath a single glazed window did very little to heat the the place up. The over bath shower with shower curtain was low in pressure and quite dated. The toilet seat was loose. All in all it could do with a freshen up and little things, like the cold room and the loo seat made the room feel really cheap.

The Wi-fi in our first floor room was all but non existent.

Now for the pluses.

Plenty off street parking, the staff were very friendly and even though there is a bar on site there was no noise so it was quite peaceful noise wise. The restaurant does typical pub food which come in big helpings and was very tasty, and there s a good selection of beers and lagers in the bar.

There was also free towels and use of the pool in the sister hotel a few yards away.

All in all it was pleasant enough but look after those small things and it would be so much better.

Spent a great few days here. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They have rooms on the ground floor for the disabled and the corridors are great for wheelchairs. The food was to die for and very reasonably priced. I can thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who likes a base for exploring the countryside around the kingdom of Fife.

Dirty bathrooms, won't came back. The towels were dirty, the tub was black, the bathroom floor was sticky and dirty. The hotel WiFi is a joke, being more time off than working. We were deceived because there is no swimming pool or spa on premises, we had to go to another hotel 0.2 miles away, to use the pool. Never coming back and wont recommend to anyone.

Sadly "changed" fish supplier from fresh fish freshly cooked in beer batter to FROZEN! .and poor quality at that! Unfortunately for consumer..me.. the price remains the same. Could have had this at home for a fraction of the price..not recommended

Place is in need of a huge face lift. There are no facilities for disabled customers. Steps up to a revolving door. Drab interior which must have been majestic in its heyday. Rooms are big and bedding, towels and bathroom spotless however More

Really dog friendly, water bowl treats and poo bags in the room, which is important to us. Staff very friendly and efficient. Ate in Jockys bar, Haddock mornay delicious as was the steak pie, superbly cooked. Stayed over as we were there to watch Just Beatles. We will definitely be back for other music nights.

Very friendly and helpful receptionist, thank you Carol! Unfortunately, the rooms and especially the bathrooms are very worn, the cheap PVC on the floors looked worse than the PVC in my Bundewehrzeiten in the room. The equipment is typical of the country and no comparison to the German standard. Dirty carpets and saggy mattresses gave us the rest. We did not move.

I've stayed here twice and have been comfortable during both stays. A grand old hotel showing some signs of its age. The staff are warm, friendly and attentive and the food is reasonably priced and excellent. Breakfast is plentiful, self serve but not a high quality as the lunch and dinner offerings. The potato bread / scones and black pudding can give the impression that they are left over from the previous day but I'm sure there's another explanation. I do like this hotel and will definitely return.

Felt very welcome as we checked in and this continued throughout our stay. The room was nice and clean upon our arrival and there was prosecco /tea/coffee in the room to have while you get settled. Had a great meal in Jocks bar on the first night and breakfast in Basil's both mornings which was equally good. The leisure facilities at the sister Hotel across the road were also quite good with a reasonably sized pool and both steam room, sauna and gym at our disposal. The hotel in general has a nice atmosphere and while it may need a little attention in some places it doesn't detract from a comfortable and quiet stay, with friendly helpful staff who helped with anything you needed. Would definitely go back!

Nice hotel but starting to look very tired and in need of refurb. Carpets are threadbare in many places. Comfortable sitting areas and nice outside court yard, especially on a nice day. Good buffet breakfast.

I booked 2 nights here for my mums 60th birthday. I booked an upgraded room with a dinner package to make it a special trip. We were very disappointed. Our room had several issues with it from dirty curtains, toilet roll holder falling off the wall, very stained carpet, single bed with double quilts that looked tacky with marks on them. We had to ask for several things that should have been given with a standard room never mind with an upgrade and it felt like a basic standard room. We both could not eat our meal on the first night as it was so bad. My mum had fish, chips and peas, which were all burnt and my potatoes and pie was cold. We decided not to eat the next night because of this.

We did bring all of the above up with the hotel staff/ managers who were all extremely nice and helpful and were offered a large refund. I stayed at the hotel with a friend 3 years ago and the hotel was not like this at all at the time. We were very disappointed that my mums 60th will be remembered for the wrong reasons and I will not be recommending this hotel.

Worst stay ever wouldn't recommend this hotel and to be fair I am going to the press and social media About our time at the hotel ie quality of food
Being threatened by a member of public
Last of support from management
Cleanliness of rooms and bathroom
Mr Scott masterton ie general manager likes to hide from situations and wouldn't face up to the problems

Very pleasant staff at this hotel, rooms are comfortable and breakfast was very good too (bacon was the best I've seen at any hotel). I slept well overnight and was not disturbed by noise. We had a meal at jocks bar and the burger was good though I would avoid ordering the nachos as a starter should I return in the future as they were dreadful. The staff at jocks bar / restaurant were very helpful and cheerful and went out their way to make you feel welcome. There is obvious signs of wear tear throughout the hotel but this adds character to the place in my opinion. Overall I would come back to the Green Hotel and would recommend it for an overnight stay, particularly as it has spa and gym facilities across the road that guests are invited to use.

Stayed the night on second floor, place looks classical but needs a fix up. The room was nice looking but there was a sick stain on our carpet, short curly hairs allover the bathroom and the double bed? Nope...it's 2x singles pushed together. I was kept up all night by people talking loudly on hallway, constant banging of doors and it seem they do laundry during the night even if your sleep next door! Overall a terrible experience! I will never return to The Green!
P.s. We were supposed to be staying over the road at The Windlestrae which is where the spa etc is located but we're told by staff to come here.

Great hotel, mainly for the amazing staff. Very welcoming and friendly. This was our second visit, first was at Green Hotel, with use of facilities of pool, gym etc. at Windlestrae, over the road. Second visit booked in to Windlestrae, breakfast there but evening meals had to booked in at green hotel. Confusion over meal bookings between hotels, however for us this was dealt with very well by the lovely staff. Food was fab!! Not surprised there's issues if evening meals are being accomodated for in one hotel for residents of two hotels. Room was very spacey for two but think needs a little updating, attention to detail. Good area for what we wanted, close to many lovely walks and places to visit. Overall good time, and would be very happy to stay there again.

Needs urgent renovation. Not really a 4 Star hotel as a modernization is over due since at least one decade. The carpets are 'repaired' with tape, the room in general was rather shabby - sorry - 'classic'. All in all a big disappointment.
Only the staff deserves 5/5 points plus an extra bonus point.

The food was delicious, presented beautifuly and the menu had a great range. The staff were pleasant and helpful, if I had one complaint it would be that it seemed a little understaffed and so it took a while to order drinks etc. The wait wasn't too excessive and so didn't have a major impact on our enjoyment of our meal.

Incredibly tired hotel crying out for refurbishment. 2nd night in, a pane of glass unexpectedly fell out of my window. Despite reporting, it wasn't fixed. Nor was the inconvenience of a freezing cold bedroom considered a worthy reduction on the cost at check out. Shame as it was once probably a nice hotel. All felt a little like 'The Shining'

I was there with my wife in March 2016.
Very nicely decorated hotel.
At the reception you were always nice and helpful.
Except for the not functioning room lighting (41) I can only recommend it.
