We went several years ago and like it a lot. The new visitor's center, WOW! The entrance is super modern and fits well with the Arch's aesthetic. The museum underneath was super informative but not in a boring museum way. If you go, you must take the ride to the top. Worth the money for the views of St. Louis and Illinois.

Visiting here was super cool. I had no idea there was so much here to see. The underground museum and the ride to the top all surprised me. Seeing the process and the decision to make the Arches the was they are is a cool story. Check it out for sure.

What a beautiful piece of art and architecture more than a million people visit this each year! 630 feet in altitude manufactured from stainless steel in the 1960s stop in for a visit and a memory.

Checked off my travel bucket list! We were blessed with a beautiful, clear day and it was not crowded. Wish I had more time for the museum portion and the movie. Great little gift shop with reasonable prices too.

I have only been up in it once and I was very young. I've tried going up in it multiple times since and haven't been able too. They only run carts up to the top every few hours, they run out of tickets quickly and they are closed a lot. Call in advanced if you want to get a ticket or else you may not be able to get one. As of now, the museum is still under construction.

The way they redid the museum is awesome! So much information with diverse presentation and interactive displays. The photos on the walls are so beautiful, and so are the changing displays in the front of the museum. It's well worth the price to go up in the arch, too. The employees are helpful, knowledgeable, and really make the entire experience. I go whenever possible. It never gets old

Beautiful piece of architecture! This was the first time going into the museum underneath. Lots of great history detailing American history going Westward. Directly across from the Arch is the Old Courthouse.

This place is amazing! The museum at the arch entrance is one of the best I have ever been to. The exhibits are great and are very informative about president Thomas Jefferson, the wild West, the early days of St. Louis, and the construction of the arch. The museum is free and if you really looked at everything would take you around two hours to see everything. The whole family can enjoy their time here! The arch also offers offers a cafe, gift shop, and a tram that takes you to the top of the arch. The prices vary on taking the tram and there are different times that you can take it. If you're in the St. Louis area you should definitely stop by!

Lots of fun in the museum! If heights really aren't your thing, this may not be the experience for you (riding to the top, at least). I went up during a thunderstorm and there was a fair amount of swaying, but the view was pretty incredible! Definitely worth doing once.

Wow. So much to do. We bought the total experience and everything was amazing. Most favorite part was the view at the top of the arch. The ride to the top was so different from everything I've done. If you're cloausetophobic, I don't know if you'll enjoy it . The museum is phenomenal and so much to see. The cruise ride was about an hour. It rained, but it was so hot that it was enjoyable. You can spend the whole day here. Finally, the movie was very impressive. It shows actual footage about the construction of the Gateway Arch. Definitely worth it.

One the major attractions of St. Luois. It has historic background to it. Nice place to visit. The small elevator aka tram takes you to the top. Tickets can be purchased on the spot itself. Gives nice view of city.

This monument is beautiful to see whether you wish to ride to the top or not. The area has a well maintained park that is handicapped accessible, has benches to rest and dog waste stations. I do not recall seeing outdoor restrooms.

New arch park and visitor's center is beautiful, well kept, and full of great exhibits but completely without narrative. It is very difficult to move through and feel like you have seen it all due to the round arrangement and grocery store aisle type setup.

It is beautiful. The Old Court House and Busch are closed by. Best taking pictures behind the Old Court House facing the Arch to capture both. The only downside is the parking garage. It is old and rusty with the walking path to the Arch covered in muds.

The gateway arch was very interesting. There are some small exhibits where you wait before you get in line. The line for the actual ride up into the arch took a very long time, we were in the twelve fifty ride and ended up getting on at about one twenty. The ride into the arch was pretty fun, you can stay up in the top of the arch for as long as you want. Overall it was pretty fun.

We were just going to use the site as a place to meet in order to transfer a passenger from one car to another as part of a long trip. That was a mistake we won't repeat. The monument itself is incredible, but there are no clear signs that say, "This way to the Arch," once you're in the neighborhood and getting into the actual area with a car was difficult. Traffic for a city downtown was okay, but getting to the riverfront where we were to meet someone was a pain. We never could find any other place to park except to block a single northbound lane and sit still waving other traffic around us until the other party arrived. I can't even guess where we would have had to start if we would have had to use a wheelchair for anyone.

If you love memorials, this is your place to go. You can take a tram to the very top and see out over the river on one ride amd down town on the other. Trams are tiny so claustrophobia is a no-no. The observation windows at the top are small but you can easily take nice pictures. Great Museum on the lower level as well. I gave it three stars because i personally was bored. Monuments are not my thing.

Historic monument. Clean grounds. Tons of photo ops. Museum underneath is a must see if you have kids. Ask a Ranger about the kids program. Didn t ride up to the top because the pods looked pretty claustrophobic.

It's a destination place to go. The history of the building of the Arch is very interesting. The must-do at the Arch is the pod ride to the top. The veiw is spectacular from all sides. You can see Busch stadium and all of downtown. It's a little tight but we'll worth it. The whole experience will be worth it.

Beautiful place. Went here with our family during a weekend in St. Louis and this was our favorite stop. A quick elevator ride to the top and you'll be able to see the most of the city in an astounding cityscape. It was definitely worth seeing!

This is a great place to visit any time of year. Lots of history and great views.

Edit: New renovations are very nice, go during the week, because the weekend was extremely busy. We had a 4 hour wait till we could ride to the top.

This place was stunning. It is such a hug man made monument. Although it was closed when we visited there were still plenty of sight seeing folks out there. After we gazed at the Arch, we walked down to the pier and hung out there for awhile.

Hands down, must visit!

Hands down, must visit!

Entrance is near the courthouse and not by the legs. Place has been recently upgraded and remodeled so the entrance was been centralized out front.

This place is POPULAR so be prepared for crowds and lots of school children.

There s a security line that requires you to remove anything metal from your pockets including your belt. Shoes stay on fortunately.

The museum is free and a great way to learn about St. Louis and the Arch and the history of westward expansion. Well done and highly recommended. Great place to kill time before boarding the tram.

Tram experience is nice but requires a bit of a wait time.

Gift shop is well stocked with plenty of Arch and non-Arch related souvenirs.

Staff for the most part was attentive and courteous. I found security to be a bit lackluster, but to be expected in that line of work.

Being inside the Arch at the top was a great experience! Worth the price and wait. On a clear day, you could see for miles. And you also could see the shadow of the arch. If you visit on a sunny day, go in the morning so you can see the shadow on the lawn.

Visit in the morning! On a clear day for the shadow. I had visited the day before and didn t see the shadow since it was cloudy. Decided to visit the top the next day and it was worth it!

Great, great, great time.

Big shoutout to the tour guide Tyran for his upbeat and positive attitude.

Again, if you can, you ll get the most out of this experience if you visit in the morning on a clear sunny day!

Love it. The view if Missouri on one side and Illinois on the other is surreal. The staff are friendly, the tour guide we had was hilarious. The facilities arenclean and tidy. The museum is so informative.

My family enjoyed The Gateway Arch. The line for the team ride up was handled by well by the staff and the ranger at the top was kind. Fun ride up and down. It was the day after Thanksgiving and the several hundred visitors were courteous and patient. I imagine summertime would be much busier and crowded. The view from the top was amazing. There were 12 in my group including 2 toddlers and a baby.

Awesome and scary I say... loved the experience would do it again. If you are scared off heights and/or claustrophobic please stay away but if you need to face your demons this is a must. Awesome frightening experience

An engineering feat that you have to check out. 13 soars take you up in a elevator to the top. Definitely a must see. Also learn about the history and significance of st. Louis and get to know how the arch was built. Really cool!!!

A lot to see, not a quick stop if you want to see and do everything. Museum was a surprise, under the park. Beautifully tells the story of westward expansion and the construction of the Arch. Get there early, limited parking. No RV parking that we could find. Check out the food trucks on the river bank, BBQ was amazing.

This review is based on my trip there on 8.22.17. The Gateway Arch itself is awesome. But I highly recommend staying away from it until construction is complete, which won't be until at least early 2018.
First off, just getting to the arch entrance is a journey, esp for older folks. The line for security can be very long depending on day/time. Security there is a disaster! So disorganized! The lines begins at the entrance door, why not down the ramp a bit?!?

Secondly, these clowns will sell tickets based on both trams running even if they know one tram is shut down! Even worse, they are shut down not due to construction but due to lack of employees!! So they know they don't have enough people to run both trams yet they still sell tickets as if both are running! What does this mean to you & me > extremely long wait times, We had a ticket for 5:50 and it was 6:30 by the time we entered the tram!!
An employee there told me they are short on workers due to kids going back to school....yet they continue to sell tickets as if both trams are running!!

Conclusion - stay away unless you enjoy heaps of construction, long waits and walking excessively.
I re-write review after Gateway Arch construction is complete, until then 1 star :)

Awesome place to see at least once! The arch is so much better in person, and way bigger than I had ever expected. The elevators were closed on the day that I went, But just to see it was really cool. The sun was setting on it, and with the reflection, along with the river in the background, it was unreal.

The views from the top are cool. Didn't like the tram ride up. The cars are very small, and they squeeze 5 ppl in it at a time. During the ride up, it sounded like pieces of the tram were cracking. I wouldn't go up there again.

We had a great time visiting the Gateway Arch, and the museum was one of the best we've seen. The museum curators did a great job on the displays, films, and interactive information. The information presented was related and connected with what was presented. The Gateway Arch grounds and walkways were beautifully groomed and navigable.

Really love the new museum, they've made this really nice facility! I wish there was some way to update the side of the elevator carts. The ride up was hot, stuffy and honestly claustrophobic. I had a hard time wanting to stay at the top due to that feeling. Glad I did it but wouldn't do it again!

After purchasing timed tickets for the Arch documentary and the tram ride, we had time to enjoy the museum and gift shop while we waited.

The documentary on the building of the Arch was very informative and showed several harrowing moments. A truly remarkable architectural and engineering feat!

The tram ride takes four minutes to ascend the Arch and three minutes to descend. Up to five people can sit in a tram car, which resembles some sort of Star Trek-era escape pod. At the top of the Arch are several windows on either side where you can take magnificent photos looking east to the Mississippi River or west toward the St. Louis Old Courthouse.

Not a bad price ($20 for both documentary and tram ride), and the whole shebang took about three hours. A worthwhile visit to St. Louis!

The museum is awesome with many interactive exhibits. Tickets are needed to ride to the top and for a tour. No ticket for the museum and shop. Security scans you on the second floor, so be prepared to remove belts, hats, purses, and any other belongings for search and metal detectors.
