The hotel is very thundered with sloping lands, cracked walls and moving stairs. But it is also true that the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are very correct and the staff very friendly. They had warned me that there was a lot of noise at night, but personally it was not as much as I thought. With the window closed, it's enough.

DO NOT BOOK HERE! strong smell of cigarette smoke, incredibly loud, run down room. my eyes are burning, head pounding, no sleep. worst night ever. I explicitly asked for a quiet room, got this one with windows opening to courtyard, where a huge noisy beergarden with large TV screens and club music is located just underneath. what a horrible place, doesn't deserve the name hotel. people who excuse this rip-off by pointing to its central location will also enjoy sleeping in the waiting halls of central bus stations.

Fun hotel, connects right to multiple bars for a fun night. Tasty complementary breakfast at the sister restaurant included in room price. Only con for me was that the water pressure was a little low in the shower.

Terrible. Rooms are above 3 pubs/clubs one which is a rock club that runs till 3am. Rooms are very tired, showers don t work. The only positives are the staff and the breakfast, which are both excellent.

This is a hotel that you stay in if you are planning on partying. There are three pubs below the hotel which are quite loud. It IS a one star hotel after all so you cannot expect much. I was in Dublin for work and asked the 24-hour reception if I could have the quietest room available and they obliged but I am a light sleeper and used ear plugs anyway! The room was clean and I had all the usual hotel amenities. It loses stars for noise and because I think they over charge for a one star hotel.

Walking in it doesn't look great but the room itself was nice and the staff relatively friendly. The shower was a good size too and the location is very central. Luckily we only had to stay one night, so overall it was fine for what we needed. However, I would not recommend this to anyone who wasn't planning on going out parting every night or is happy not to sleep until the early hours. The hotel is above a live rock music club which gets so loud the whole room shakes every night (even Sundays) until 3am. Not only that, but the room was like a furnace with no way to turn off the heater. The only option to cool the room down was to open the window but then it was as loud as being in a live concert venue.

I am currently staying in room 107, and I'm about ready to tear my hair out. My head is pounding and I can't sleep. It's 1:15am on a Monday morning I hear no end to the awful, thunderous, room-shaking music downstairs. I put on headphones and can still feel the bass vibrations. I was not warned of this when I arrived or moved into my room. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO SLEEP. One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had.

This place is great for a 1 star hotel. The bathroom was clean. The hallway to get to the front desk smelled horrible. There were some questionable characters hanging out by the entrance. The party going on outside our room was loud. Overpriced. This place is great if you don t care where you stay.

It was perfect for my pupose. I needed to stay at a central location, the breakfast was good and staff was friendly. Not for the light sleeper. I was not bothered by the traffic nor by the bar.

Takes getting used to from the outside. Inside you can tell the age of the hotel. Sanitary facilities in the rooms (there were 6 there and had booked 5 rooms) partly, I say - badly in need of renovation - but not dirty. TV remote control (if needed) is available at the reception :-) We were told the heaters were off. If we were too cold, we should let them know, then they would be switched on. (December) * laughs * But we weren't cold - for whatever reason. The hotel is located above a hard rock pub. You don't hear anything from the music. However, if you have a window facing the street, there is some noise from the people in front of the door. It didn't bother me. The hotel is on a hotspot. At the back (to the inner courtyard) 3 meet !!! Pubs. The Fibber Magee's, the Murrays and The Livingroom. The 3 share the inner courtyard and a HUGE Heinken big screen. Were there from Saturday to Sunday. "Hell" is going on there at night. In the inner courtyard, despite the cool temperatures, we were no longer able to sit or stand. (Well, later :-)) The 3Arena is a walk of about 1 hour (depending on how fast you are traveling) To the city center just around the corner. All in all a great stay. Should I go to Dublin again, I would check in there again.

Terrible hotel. Dry blood on the duvet covers. Very outdated, TV not working. No lift and the stairs is like a fun house. We were there 1 hour then decided to leave, no refund just the offer of a different room. Terrible experience. AVOID.

Was there in juni 15. Some works where going on in the income at the time. Very friendly and in the middle of town. Ideal for budget-travel. More continental-like breakfast is possible if you ask for it. Entrance is with a buzzer. Than go up the stairs.

Pure Hell. First floor room above the rock club, room is vibrating, t.v not working. Ear plugs the receptionist hands out are not blocking the noise, as it is vibrating bass - and I asked for a quiet room! I wonder what the second floor ones with 'some noise' are like? 3am before the room was usable.

If i could lower this to a negative i would! This is one of the worst places I've ever stayed. Very run down and oh my god not worth what we spent on this at all!! Hard rock music till 3 am right below us, like heavy metal at times even, no water pressure at all, the room was very very small, no elevator and reception is at the top of a long flight of stairs. Pls pls pls do not go here.

Apartment very well located almost in the center of Dublin. 1 km from Temple Bar area. Practical kitchen with washing machine. The living room is very well arranged too. Neighborhood a bit noisy but friendly

I've stayed at The Gate Hotel for one night. The hotel has very winding corridors and small rooms, but is clean. The bathroom is ok, the same goes for the full Irish breakfast. All in all, the hotel is ok, you get what you can expect for the low price.

The hotel is above a pub with loud live music. We had a room on the first floor and couldn't sleep. The windows were actually shaking. We asked to be moved on a higher floor and were answered first that there weren't rooms available, and then that we could move if we paid for an upgrade from 8am (ie there were rooms available!). We paid 90 euros for 1 night and deeply regretted our choice. Also, the carpet was really dirty, there were hair and small pieces of rubbish, and it stank badly. The mattress was incredibly worn out and extremely uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The only positive thing was 24 hour reception.

Very friendly service. The hotel is shabby, but you can tell in every room that the staff tries very hard. A hotel to feel good. No elevator but an excellent breakfast in Murray's Bar, which is right next door. That is why it is loud, which is definitely justifiable. We would definitely come again!

Very good price / quality ratio also calculating that you are a stone's throw from the center. Clean rooms. Very helpful staff. The hotel does not have a kitchen, it has an agreement with a nearby pub. Breakfast of your choice and excellent!

This should really be advertise as a hostel. You have to go to a different building for breakfast the place is run down. However the room and bathrooms are clean and the staff are very helpful. The entrance is polluted with air freshener to mask another smell. The heat in the room was overpowering and the radiator in the bathroom was too hot to turn off. There is no main light in the family room makes putting on makeup practically impossible.

Scam, False advertising and crumbling to the ground. We booked 3 nights and had to stay 1 because every other "hotel" was sold out. My daughter tryed to blow dry her hair (with the hair dryer provided) and set the fire alarm off! Broken windows, the whole place is leaning to 1 side. We forfeited 2 nights rent and left. I don't ever write reviews, but in this case I made a exception. Do yourself a favor and skip this place! You will be glad you did.

It's good. It's not crazy expensive and it's right in the center of Dublin. If you can't sleep with noise, consider another place, as there is a bar right downstairs that gets pretty loud, but it is very nice and fun!

Simple hotel, some noice from the bar nearby put a good place to stay one night. The shower was hot (took some while) and it was leaking a bit into the bathroom floor but the extra towel did the job.

The worst Hotel I've ever been. If you are luky, you won't be in the 107/108/109 rooms, or as I call them the Hells rooms. They advised that there are some rooms where you can suffer noisy, but noisy is nothing againts the noisy you suffer in these rooms. The rooms are up to a pub, where use buffles, and there is all night a bad vibration, noisy of the instruments, voices.....it's impossible to sleep, and in the hotel only said, oh the city hall know it and the police, but they don't do nothing. They don't have a claim form, that is obligatory in EU, they replayed that it's not obligatory in Ireland, but the EU obly every European Country to have it. So, not going there, it's better to go anywhere.

The first impression is a bit rough. You have to be "buzzed" in to the main floor, then it's up a flight of stairs with all your luggage. Luckily you only do that once!. Just about everyone at the front desk was helpful. The rooms are small, but you're not in Ireland to see a hotel. They are however, clean and comfortable. The location is great. The new light rail system is just outside the door. The breakfast at Murrays (via the shared outdoor bars) is quite nice and having access to a 3 am bar, when you just want one more pint, is very handy. There is a great "mom and pop" coffee/breakfast shop right outside, a late night fish n chips to your right and Subway/convenience store at the corner to your left. For the money, this place is a gem. I would have given it a full 5 stars, but the late night front desk clerk was a bit of a jerk one night. Otherwise, I would recommend this place to anyone that goes on vacation to see the sights and not a hotel.

If you go to sleep in the morning 2 to 3 bars then you are fine if you come to sleep. The rooms were clean, the toilet and shower were new, the employees were concerned, as well as the price was appropriate compared to other hotels. But the sound of the bar below was in my room. It's not possible to sleep. Especially ask for a room on the upper floors. Because the sound problem on the 1st floor is not acceptable, the following bar plays music at a high volume up to 02:30.

It doesn't look the most attractive outside, but the overall hotel rooms were actually quite nice. Small but had everything a hotel room would come with! Beds were comfy and staff were very nice and helpful. The only complaint is the noise at night, because of the bar downstairs but besides this not a bad place to stay by any means

Well priced. Central in Dublin. Staff very friendly. Bed was very comfy. Great hot shower. Wud stay there again. Breakfast in Murray's bar attached to the back of the hotel by an open air area that has music and craic and is a central area attached to flibber magee's bar as well. Only down side was getting in. The entrance looks like a pub enterance. Walked past a few times before I saw the buzzer (secure, sou hav to b buzzed into it)

Cancelled hotel booking due to flights being cancelled, initially hotel said no charges, then the following day we got an email saying there would be 25 charge. Will be disputing this charge and will not be rebooking in the future.

Based on the fact that it is a one star hotel, the staff at the reception was very friendly. The room was not bad and the bathroom either. The hotel has 3 very busy bars below, which gives a very good atmosphere, although I suppose that in some rooms there may be quite a lot of noise until late. However, in ours, we did not hear anything and we were able to sleep well. It is also in good location, very close to the center.
