My second stay at the gate. And again everything was great. Room was spotless, I asked for a quiet room and I got one. The staff was superb friendly! Maybe due to the last minute booking I got a huge 3-bed room to myself. Would definitely also recommend that room for a group of 3-4 people! Thanks, Gate Hotel!

The location of the hotel is great and the staff were incredibly helpful.

Unfortunately our room was above a bar/club and the noise as we "tried" to sleep was horrendous. We requested a change of room and were moved to a a much better and quieter room. How they can sell a room in a hotel were you can't sleep due to the noise. I don't understand. The 2 stars are for the great staff and location

I've stayed in some cheap hotels in Europe, but that was the worst and most expensive bad experience of my life.

The hotel and my room were pretty shabby, when you enter the building you are struck by the fragrance of the room spray.

I looked at backpacker hostels in the surrounding area and have to say that they were of better quality!

Around 135 euros for 2 nights in the gate are definitely too much!

My room 109 wasn't anything special either, it's just something to drop off after a pub crawl. The presumably defective miniature TV or the incompatible remote control that you had to pick up at the reception only allowed you to select one channel.

A running heating is only available on direct request from the helpful staff. A button is pressed in the reception that activates the heating in the room and bathroom.

I only had a view of the old backyard with the shitty pigeon window sill with a view of the beer gardens or I looked envious of the neighboring brand new Holiday Inn where I could have got a really nice and comfortable room for a handful more.

It is a mystery to me where all the super ratings for the gate in the various portals come from.

Although breakfast in the neighboring Murrays Pub was good, breakfast starts at 8 a.m. too late for me. There is nothing to eat for vegetarians and muesli fans, only the well-known, usual British-style program with sausages, eggs, pudding, beans, deep-fried hash brown potato wedges, toast with butter and orange marmalade. Annoying the constant advertising for the bar on the huge screens, a news channel would be better.

There was thick carpeting everywhere in the room, which could certainly look good with the appropriate cleaning. Instead, hair and thick layers of dust around the very uncomfortable double bed. The pillows smelled strange too. In the bathroom a cheapest PVC floor covering, aerators on the hand basin totally clogged. The skid mark of a previous tenant in the toilet bowl :-(

The only positive thing was the open WiFi in the house.

Overall, never disappointing again!

We knew going into it that the hotel is cheap and the other reviews said noise was a problem, but my goodness. Avoid rooms 107-109 at all costs. The bass and drums from the music underneath you literally shake the floors and walls. Other rooms on higher floors may be alright, but spend the extra money to not worry about it. There is a reason Google gives it a 1 star rating.

Rooms are comfortable. Entrance is on first floor so the first impression is not vert good. Bot rooms are clean and quite spacious. The hotel is extremely central and one can get breakfast in a restaurant just round the corner.

Fabulous family run hotel in the heart of Dublin. Great staff, very interesting courtyard with 5 bars leading on to it. Something for everyone from traditional Irish to biker to cool hang out for the young ones.

If you want to sleep this is not the place for you! There s a rock bar just under it and the music makes the room shake and vibrate and you will be unable to sleep. The room is like a furnace so you want to open the window but you can t open the window because of the music so no win situation

Good hotel for the price. Very centrally located and fine for my one night stay. The stairs are a bit uneven and everything looks a bit tired but it does the job. The included breakfast in the pub (Murrays) next door is a big bonus. I had a room on the top floor, facing the road and it was surprisingly quiet. However the reception does offer ear plugs so maybe that says something about the other rooms!

Room was at the back (looked like an old store room converted into a room) with very little space. Was also located directly above night club so didnt get any sleep while there. Would recommend staying up from bottom floor or not at all. Lady at front was helpful and nice.

Tiny and pretty rundown rooms that are overpriced. However, nothing else to expect in this situation. After all, the service staff is very concerned about the well-being. The attached bar, where you have to have breakfast is for until 4 in the morning to hear

Not much to look at from the outside but the room was immaculate and much bigger than expected. Airport link bus stops 1 road over and it's a nice walk into the centre of town (around Temple Bar, etc) of about 5 - 10 minutes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast at Murrays was very good. Comfy beds, nice hot shower and all the facilities you'd expect from a great hotel (Kettle, Towels, Iron etc in the room).

Because they have a pop on the ground floor with live music and the sound goes up to the rooms on the first floor until 3 in the morning and they do not let you rest so I do not recommend it at all apart from the strainer of the covered shower it did not serve the heating I give it from 1 to 10 a 2 rating. The truth is terrible

Small room and very small bed for 2 persons. The location is perfect and the hotel for Dublin not so expensive. At night there was little noise on the second floor. No USB port or working jack plug to the mobile phone load available. Water pressure is very low.

Like it's ok but nothing to write home about. We stayed in room 306 which is on the third floor facing Parnell Street - further away from the bar/live music. Beside regular street traffic, it was very quiet. The staff are very nice and friendly. The room is clean and tidy but a bit 'worn-down'. For 70 it was bit much but ok. The shower was very good - big and good pressure. Would be more impressed if it was 10-15 cheaper as then it would definitely be worth it.

The location is very good. Near the center, next to one of the main avenues. There are pubs in the surroundings which gives a very lively atmosphere. The hotel does not have a lift. The entrance is a little distressing and depressing until you reach the reception on the first floor. It looks like a warehouse full of bags of sheets and towels that you have to negotiate to climb the stairs. The personnel is very friendly. The room was spacious. Two very large beds and the bathroom very well too. I emphasize the cleanliness.

Didn't spend the night but I had a great time! Good vibes all around, but definitely go to the beer garden; there's a little van converted into a bar! And on a Monday in early January of 2015, it's more fun outside than in. Thanks again for good drinks and friendly staff!

I recommend this hotel 100%.

I recommend this hotel 100%.
The location is perfect, a 7 minute walk away, located on one of the main streets in Dublin.
It's small but cozy, great service, they went out of their way to speak Spanish.
Daily cleaning and very careful.
There is a bar below but it does not affect at all at the time of rest, the room was on the second floor and nothing could be heard.
If I return to Dublin I will certainly repeat.
