If you live in or near the Atlanta metro area and have not visited the iconic Fabulous Fox Theatre you're doing yourself a great disservice. Known for premiering that little Margaret Mitchell flick in 1940, today you can still catch a movie as well as a play, a musical, and even a concert. The night I went was to see Death Cab for Cutie. They have that melodramatic 8 minute long song that I played all the time. My husband surprised me with tickets. I didn't get to hear my favorite song. I feigned fatigue and asked to leave. I didn't tell him it was because the song was marked by a year-long affair inwhich I'd fallen madly, deeply, crazily in love. But, none-the-less, the seats were awesome - right down in front. I definitely recommend catching a show at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.

The Fox is one of a kind! Beautiful, historic, and revered by all performers and lovers of the fine arts! Definitely take a backstage tour, so worth it! The Broadway in Atlanta series always fantastic, if you mainly prefer musicals. The upcoming season has a fabulous lineup and is already sold out of season tickets for the series! But you can still get individual tickets to separate shows. If you have a special anniversary, date night or birthday coming up, an evening at the Fox will make it so special!

My wife and I took the Ghost Tour of the fabulous Fox. We loved it. We were able to walk through areas you don't see in the regular tours, including the lower levels where they have props, the mechanicals for raising and lowering the stages and even some of the dressing rooms. It was fun, and for my wife, a theater advocate, a great time. Alas, no ghosts this time. Well worth the time and price. Thank you.

Love this beautiful theater! From the exterior to the interior, there are picture worthy places all over. I highly recommend going to see a show here if you re visiting, and convincing a friend to buy season tickets if you re local.

Beautiful Place! A real Atlanta GEM :) The shows here are great and the atmosphere wonderful for all ages. I rather see a Play here though, than a concert, the layout I think is better for plays.

I can't say enough about this theater. We have now seen for shows and each one has been fantastic. Nearly packed to the gills it never seems overfilled. The staff does a great job getting people in and out concessions are reasonable and they allow you to bring them into the theater during the show. Highly recommend as a destination for anyone visiting the area. We just saw Hamilton and we're blown away at the talent of the cast and Acoustics of the building.

The venue is indeed beautiful yet is sorely lacking in upgrades for the restrooms and the stairs to the balconies. As a senior it was difficult to climb the awkward stairs and not feel fearful of stumbling and falling. The acoustics are good but being in the balcony limits visual appreciation for activity on stage.

This stunning Atlanta gem is always a special treat whether attending Broadway shows, concerts, or an event in the beautiful Egyptian ballroom. I'm mesmerized by it's beauty every time. Love the gorgeous new Marquee Club recently opened. They did a wonderful job incorporating new and old design in the 3 story private club.

BEAUTIFUL theater and they get pretty good shows. However the greedy ownership will nickel and dime you with all kinds of charges when you just try to get a simple ticket. Shameless and most likely this will be the reason this place will eventually become a less than impressive "historical" figure of Atlanta. If possible watch shows at other venues that are less miserly theaters around the area.

I've been in Atlanta for 25 yrs and have never been to the the Fox . My wife ( Georgia Peach & native Atlanta-ien) heard me say this and was like "what"? Oh we going. Alvin Ailey was there this past weekend. The show was fabulous!!! I'll go every year they come to ATL. The theater is lovely, but the seating is a little cramped. Guys, elbow room please in the restrooms. The men know what im talking about. We were pushed out the door even as i explained that this was my first visit and i just wanted a few photos from the balcony. Other than that, i had a great time and will never forget it.

2-23-20 - My wife and I went to see Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater show, last day, at the Fox Theater. Many people were there, including a younger generation who may have never experienced the show before, let alone a show at the Fox Theater. Arrived early, and parked at a Fox event parking garage for $20, down the street but not too far away. The parking attendant was very courteous and friendly. And met some friendly people on the way to the show as well. There were many people purchasing tickets there. The staff from outside to inside were very courteous and helpful. Security helped to make entering as seamless as possible. The Ushers from the door to everywhere inside helped more than they will know assisting us and others to get to and from seats and destinations within. Inside the building was just as I remembered. The one thing if I could change would be the seating. Nicely arranged, but if you have taller patrons or those of equal height viewing becomes a shifting of the neck or head depending on where you sit. We sat in Curtain D, row CC, on the right side of the auditorium. Seats 28 and 26. It was a virtual head shifting. But fortunately my wife asked during the first intermission, since it wasn't sold out, if we could sit further back, and they obliged. We were able to enjoy the rest of the show knowing why we were clapping. I would recommend a show here and even volunteering ones time to serve there.

They don't call it the Fabulous Fox for nothing.Love the Fox. One of my favorite things in Atlanta. Having a very good season and next year looks great. Check out the bathroom. Over all a lovely theatre and good experience. They have recently made some changes that I do not like. They started a Marquee Club ($$$) that has resulted in closing a section of the theatre to regular ticket holders, including the main level restroom. At intermission there is an amusement park style line to get to the remaining basement bathroom. It is a shame they did this. Tougher access for older folks. They also removed all of the really cool chairs that used to be sprinkled around. Not sure why but had a bad time with my mother on a cane and will not take her back again as a result.

Fantastic theater with an awesome vintage feel. I felt like I was stepping back in time as soon as I saw the front. Fabulous shows, I love supporting establishments that bring the arts to life. This is one of the finest theaters in the south, if you are visiting its worth just walking in and looking around.

honestly I had a great time at the fox seeing the nutcracker. first time I have ever been. I even got a nutcracker, but when I got home it was broken. So my husband takes it back today, they tell him there is nothing wrong with this nutcracker. He brings it home to me and it's broke too. We live an hour and half away. It just sadden me that I will have to go back another time to exchange the doll.

Who doesn't love the iconic Fox Theatre? You haven't "done" Atlanta until you've seen a show here. There's nothing like walking into the theatre and seeing the sky-painted ceiling and gorgeously embellished stage. It's a wonderful experience that you shouldn't miss.

It s hard to believe that this historic Arabian motif building was almost torn down. The venue has approximately 4,600 seats all with unobstructed views. We just saw Trevor Noah, and we have see other musicals and concerts. Venue size, seating and acoustics are great. Have dinner in the area and possibly stay the night at a local hotel. It s worth the traffic headaches to get here.

History of The Fox Theatre

The history of The Fox Theatre dates back to 1928 when movie mogul William Fox decided to build an opulent theatre in Atlanta that would rival any other theatre in the country. He hired architect Olivier Vinour from New York City who designed an incredible building that combined elements of Egyptian and Spanish architecture.

When it opened on December 25th 1929 it was considered one of the most magnificent theatres ever built with its ornate decorations including gold leafing throughout the auditorium and lobby areas along with intricate carvings on every surface imaginable.

Over time The Fox became more than just a movie palace; it became a cultural icon for Atlanta residents who enjoyed attending live performances there as well as movies. In fact during World War II soldiers stationed nearby were given free admission so they could enjoy some entertainment while away from home.

In recent years The Fox has undergone extensive renovations which have restored much of its original grandeur while adding modern amenities such as updated sound systems and lighting equipment making it one of America's premier venues for live entertainment today.
