Neat assortment of things to look at, interesting place to stop and browse w/ kids. Is pretty pricy.

Natures best attraction for the young and old with something to offer everyone...nature is calling.
I bought several unique items at this fantastic store! One thing was a replica shrunken head!
Unqiue store for a unique taste. Sells skeletons and corpses of small animals and insects. Along with fossils and aesthetic elements.
Evolution should definitely be in your list of places to drag friends visiting from out of town. They have all sorts of odd natural ephemera, from skeletons (human & animal) to rocks and crystals. A nine on a scale of ten for Interesting, and luckily maybe a two on the scale for Gross.
Such a cool store with unique gifts for children who love nature.
One of my favorites. Fossils , taxidermy animals .That' s what I like.
The Evolution store is the only one of it's kind in nyc! If you love looking at fossils, shark's teeth, preserved butterfly specimens and a wide variety of bones and gems, this is a great store! It's like being in biology class again or the Natural History museum on a small scale.
Not that amazing, most of the items they were selling you can get elsewhere for much cheaper. I'm not really sure how this place stays in business...
Staff very helpful and patient. It's a small store but there is good breadth if not so much depth to each category: taxidermy, shells, bones, butterflies and other insects, rocks/ crystals/ fossils.
LOVED THIS PLACE. Thanks for such a rich experience. They even helped me identify a fossil from my personal collection
I thought it was cool, but super expensive for a college student like me.
A bit of a natural history nerds paradise.
This store is well over priced for the taxidermy items they sell, but it still seems to attract the customers with it's weird and wonderful items anyway. Upstairs you'll find larger items, which if just visiting, probably won't fit on the plane ride home, but are great to marvel at anyway.
If you want to take away a souvenir they have smaller items at better prices, like beautiful framed butterflies, small animal skulls etc. Everything in here is done with love and respect for the animals in which they're selling, the taxidermy is made to showcase the animals beauty rather than freak people out. Worth a visit!
The store is awesome, I go almost every time I am in New York.
Interesting shop, makes it easy to collect fossils when you re nowhere near Montana, Nevada, the Carolinas, or Arizona to get down in the sediment and dig yourself. I walked away with a pretty good size Meg tooth for a cheap price. The stock changes based on what is brought in by the store, so it s never the same materials.
The store staff also answered a lot of my questions as to how the operation is ran and where all of the stuff comes from, pretty fascinating arrangements they make.
Great place to browse geologic treasures and other assorted natural antiquities!
Really weird and I love it. Got a poster for my room and keychain for my friend. Pretty cool
The shop to visit to see the unusual. Meteorites from the bones. Moonstones. Even if we don't buy it is to be seen.
I thought it would be cool, but it's pretty horrible to look at lion skin rugs, dead frogs and turtles. Made me sad.
The rocks and fossils were cool, though.
On a side note: Actual human skulls? Ew!
A little overpriced but definitely better than Obscura. You can find much better prices in a less trendy store, certainly. But it's well decorated and managed, the people are relatively friendly & knowledgable. The store is a little cramped and can be not worth going into when there's a lot of people there, though.
Nice store with an eclectic collection of stuff, ranging from world globes to tortoise shells. Bring the kids. Prices are very reasonable.
A must see!
Have great fossils, but also alligator heads, petrified wood, many skeletons.
This place is really creepy. It includes both human and animal skeletons. While the animal skeletons can be interesting and beautiful in thier intricacies, it seems inappropriate and lacking in deference to the fact that these were once human beings.
If you are looking for fossils, bones, or crystals, this is a fun store to check out.
Amazing place! Best place to buy souvenirs for kids. I have two boys 7 and 10 and it was so hard to choose))) but all gifts are perfect for them) I spent here an hour, like museum
Bizarre place with interesting and cool objects (minerals, taxidermy, stones, gems, etc)
Fascinating store with a variety of butterflies, beetles and bats. Both embedded in resin and framed. They also have some bones and minerals available. Recommended place to come and stop buy if you're a tourist! Quite the unique store.
Come for the edible insects, stay for the racoon's penis bones. Amazing store, their natural history prints are really great also.
I was very surprised by the quality of the stuff found here, and the prices seem way better than other places that sell similar fossils. Highly recommend coming here if you are interested in bones, shells, fossils, or taxidermy of insects.
Interesting items in a beautiful shop. Perfect for the scientific or quirky individual. Also have an online store and will ship items for customers.
Awesome and rare. And a good learning place with exquisite items!
Used to be interesting and bizarre but is now just a mainstream tourist spot full of fake skeletons.
Interesting place, if you're a science and/or archeology fan, though I think it's more for souvenirs than for "serious" science. Not everything is just fossils and bones though, they also sell some nice mineral sample collections, for those who would like to own a variety of different minerals. I would say the collections are the kind for beginners who appreciate minerals from a scientific perspective, not for beauty or decorative attributes, though they may have those too. The samples are large enough that you don't need a magnifying glass to examine them, about 2 cm long, give or take.
This store is incredible, you would be a fool not to check it out!
A great selection of really cool nature-themed gifts. A bit on the pricey side for some of it, but some of the smaller items seemed good as gifts.
Nature means skulls. And skeletons, lots of them. While there are large pieces of agate, geodes and other items that stand the test of time there is a large selection of skeletons or skulls. Expensive ones, not cheap but especially if you're doing anatomy studies or you like to be surrounded by items that remind you of the complexity of nature. You go here.
One of my FAVORITE stores in all of NYC. It's one of those places you just have to stop and look around in even if you're not going to buy anything (but please buy something!) because they have such amazing artifacts as well as just fun stuff. It's like a mini museum without paying admission. I've actually noticed their prices are a bit lower for similar or the exact same items sold elsewhere, so I really appreciate that and love supporting them when I can!
Awesome store to buy skull and animal decorations. They have a great collection
Cool spot ! But super expensive lol you re better off going into namaste by union square to buy healing crystals. A lot of tourists become curious by this spot because they shop puts a skeleton outside the door. They have a few things/nic-nacs that you would expect to find at the hall of science or museum of natural history gift shops.
Always interesting to just walk in and browse at all their taxidermy collection! The butterfly they have are just amazing. This store is special in the sense that city people get to reconnect with the nature through taxidermy art. Every piece of specimen is very well done with live-looking and postures. It s truly an icon for Manhattan. Almost like a mini- Natural History Museum. Give it a visit while in town !
Amazing everyone's so nice and informative , I got a spider and some butterfly wings . Not that pricey either unless ur getting a framed creature!
Can't afford anything there, but no one stops me from purusing for fun
Very interesting but may not be for everyone. Relatively inexpensive for a NYC gift shop.
I could spend all day looking at their unique and interesting items. It's definitely not your average gift shop, just so much cooler. If you have any fascinating with rocks, animals, skeletons, gems, or anatomy, you'll find something to catch your interest here.
This place is seriously underrated. In many ways, it's more like an exhibit than a store!
Coolest shop, truly scientific in nature but presented in playful, iconoclast way. Staff is patient and knowledgeable, prices are high but there's great gifts at a lower price point too.
If you are looking for an unusual experience, this is the place. It is a science based store, ergo the title in the heart of the Village. They carry butterflies, moths, beetles, all sorts of skeletons, posters of flora, fauna and insects. There are taxidermy alligator heads, hides, birds, etc. You never know what you might find.
Awesome collection of fossils and minerals. Nice things for purchase.
This store consistently offers the strangest items at different price points. From rocks and minerals to shells and preserved octopus, there are tons of weird things here. It seems like the footprint of the store is small, but there is a lot to see. There's skeletons and taxidermied animals too, which are interesting and super creepy.
This is a lovely trinket store down in the village. My partner had been following them on Instagram for years and it was a bucket list item on our trip to New York. He was fully satisfied and even purchased a beaver skull which is in our bedroom. If the previous sentence makes you chuckle rather than squirm: this is the place for you!
Great and hard to find collectibles and oddities! Great if you're looking for that special gift no one else will buy!!!
Strange store but still amazing. If you're in the area I would recommend just dropping by.
Going down hill.
I love the store and have for years but on my most recent visit the store was not nearly as great as it once was. It no longer has as many skulls and the ones it does have a lot are replicas or relatively common animals. They didn't have a leopard or lion skull for example. Also Alex is gone, I guess he left or maybe was fired, but he was great. It still has a lot of cool insects, a few common cheap things, and a nice interior decoration, but its loosing its luster.
I HOPE THEY CAN GET IT BACK.
I literally want to own their entire inventory. No hyperbole. And the staff is always nice.
Beautiful place with crazy things to see and wonderful jewels to buy. I m amazed by their crystal s necklaces. The staff is very patient and nice.
Excellent and fascinating place to visit on a trip to New York! Contains a variety of interesting artifacts.
LOTS!!!!! Of good quality things, I wish I could buy it all. And they have many learning kits for kids. I'm definitely going back for some items that my nephews will love.
The weirdest thing about this store is how NOT creepy it is. Definitely niche wares, but very cool.
Not very big, but still a must see. Great for adults and children who love science.
Awesome store for weird gifts. Whatever the occasion, whatever item to give to someone would definitely be the main talking point.
What a great place to find curious and unusual items. Not for everyone, in a fun way.
Amazing spot! A great place to take your kids and/or for anyone interested in odd and unique things. Took my 13 year old son and he couldn't get enough. FANTASTIC!
Super fun. You can do the similar experience at Tokyo Shimokitazawa, Darwin's Room.
Interesting store: many unique exhibits that you can buy. In particular, the rings with methiorite!
This is a bizzare unique store perfect for finding animal bones, stones and other collectibles like arrow heads and shark teeth
I ve ordered things from them online and wanted to visit the store in person. Smaller than I expected, but definitely worth stopping in to look at all the interesting things.
Awesome store. One of a kind skulls n bugs n things. Check it out.
Beautiful mounted and framed butterflies. I bought dozens as art for my homes.
Third year that I pass from here, it is always a fascinating place with a thousand strange objects! Recommended for the curious
The best store in the world, and now more that has a new layout of the place, i went for the first time like 6 years ago, and each time i go, it doesnt stop surprising me
Love this store. Located in a fun area and filled with bizarre and interesting goodies. I always bring back souvenirs for my nephews from this store because they think it s so cool! Artwork, bones, skulls, taxidermy, bugs, etc all meticulously arranged or made into creative art pieces in their own right. Staff is wonderful, too.
The employees were incredibly helpful and kind. Was picking up for my boss and even though I typically would not have entered this store (even though I passed it all the time!) I was glad to finally go in and see how interesting and cool everything was!
Awesome. I edited my review i had 5 stars and it said 2. How could i put 2 stars for a great store that my daughter's attention for over an hour. I'm glad i looked at your reply and noticed mistake
Extremly interesting products. Worth the visit if youre nearby.
