Friendly staff, more than accommodating atmosphere, place to practice trading card games. Play area is small with only two tables, but it makes up for it with the vast amount of comic selection as it is a comic book Shop first. They have a variety of items that any enthusiast will enjoy. Stop by or call ahead and you will be greeted with the same unwavering friendliness and customer service. Parking is paid street parking available at a 2hr limit, the cost at this time is $0.25 per 12min so for $2.50 it is reasonable. Store prices seem fair and accurate.

Amazing place to play yugioh or magic staff are great and helpful. The shop is well managed and it's a respectful and relaxed place to play would recommend to anyone

Small thing, no greeting when I came in. I was in the store for at least 20 minutes. No one said anything to me. That could be a good thing if you're hermit-y

I go to the JHU Staten Island location weekly to pick up my weekly pull list. They have a great selection and always have the books I need. Both Dani and Nick are great and they are always down to talk comics and help you find what you need. I've shopped in many stores across the city and this one is my favorite!

They have a decent collection of comics available. They are pretty organized with new issues. The staff is nice Cool! The part I like is they have some nice stuff for kids and also for the big kid in me lol. They sell shirts and they were even having a dungeons and dragons game going on in the back on!

Went to play MTG and buy some sleeves. Steve went around giving everyone a free promo card. Such a small gesture, yet it shows just how much he cares for and appreciates his patrons. Therewithal, Nick was a great assist in finding exactly what I was looking for. It's these kinds of things that create a lifelong customer.

Their prices are good and they offer a vast selection of Magic: The Gathering products, Dungeons and Dragons products, and, of course, comic books on top of a myriad of other items. Couldn't ask for a better shop so close to home.

OMG...a real comic book store with real knowledgeable staff. I have been to many comic book stores around east coast due to work related trips. But have not seen one like this in a long time. A comic book store MUST have 2 items to be consideration great. 1st a well supply of current material as well as a good stock of past material - check they have both. 2nd and maybe even more important a staff that is clearly knowledgeable in various fields which may be asked by customers. So impressed - keep up the great work and if you are reading this you should support them - a local business helping the youth and not so youthful folks in town. Thank you.

The staff is nice and will help you find anyrhing if you have trouble, which shouldn't happen because the comics are organized perfectly. The store is always clean and the bathroom isn't a mess and always smells clean.

Fantastic selection of comics, graphic novels and games. This is the original location for the JHU stores. I've been going here since the 80s. Good service, clean and appealing layout for the store. They will order deliveries for pickup as requested, and still buy comics for those who have them to sell. They have a large selection for youngsters also, which is not as common in Comic book shops these days, for those who have families.
Relatively easy parking and good location in the New Dorp commercial corridor.

This is the local comic store. Its got everything you need, the people are helpful and knowledgeable. They have some obscure stuff, not a lot, good selection of local comics and art books. They have a small gallery in the back that can have some awesome stuff from time to time.

I've been a customer on and off here for many years, dating back to the former Merchants of Venus and Fantastic Store shops. There's usually a lot of older gems here, new items are usually in stock and if it's not there, someone will try to get it for you.
A store is only as good as its employees. In recent years I've found the staff to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. That goes a long way.

Went there for d&d dice they were very helpful and they let me wash my peaches in the bathroom

I'm a regular at their Manhattan location but stop here occasionally. A nice store with a good selection and excellent customer service. If you're on SI and looking for comics it's definitely the place to go.

Went in today to play some yugioh haven t played in a while. Very nice friendly workers. Nice young man sold me some packs I got some cool cards thanks again

This store is a gem! There are not too many stores like this anymore. Very retro and right here on Staten Island! The staff is very nice and personable. I am a huge Walking Dead fan and they have the comics there. It is nice to see kids interacting with each other! Plenty of events held in the store! The store reminds me of stores back in the 1980s when I was growing up! Love it.

What can I say. Jim Henleys Universe was there when I first started reading coming books in the 80s.

Still trying to get them to sell me that giant Silver Surfer in the window but they won't budge. Lol..

Love this place. I've discovered so many new good series from the personal recommendations of the owner.

Every time I go to this store, I keep getting more disinclined to return. I walk in and am immediately ignored by the staff on duty. If that happened once or twice, it wouldn't be a big deal, but every. Single. Time. And the last time I went in I was literally the only customer in the store. I just feel like they don't create as much as a welcoming atmosphere as other comic shops on the island. It's a good place to go figure out what books I might want to buy, but I usually end up buying them elsewhere.

Absolutely phenomenal staff and selection. They have everything from really old issues of comics to the latest release of MTG. The staff knows their stuff and is really helpful with finding what you need.

Always loved this store from the 80s as a kid and now with my own son.

Getting back into comic collecting and this place has been helpful with teaching me things.

Had a variety of comic books and graphic novels, had a couple of the things I was missing. But not everything.

Great store. Helpful staff. Open floor doesn't make u feel.like ur in a cave. Tons of older issues that are well.organized and awsome priced. 2nd store on the island I've been to. Defiantly better than the first. Highly recommended

A nice back issue section. The people who work there are very knowledgeable and are very friendly. I highly recommend stopping in. Especially on Tuesday when you can buy 2 graphic novels and get the third one free.

If your a anime geek or marvel and DC then you will like this place

When I want to go buy comics , I don't waste money at Barnes and Nobles or on Amazon instead I simply go to JHU. Each and every time I go there I feel as if I'm being treated like royalty. The serve is great ! If you want to sit down and read you're more than welcome too.

The selection has gone down from what it use to be, probably due Lee's people collecting and reading comics. Still an awesome place to shop.

Good comic spot. They have a larger location in midtown to leverage for anything the SI location doesn't have in stock.

Aswome place were you can use their space for d and d and such. Tons of comic books as well and each Friday they have magic the gathering games,

Back issues, well knowledged staff and a Manhattan location makes for a great comic shop.

With the dwindling number of comic shops around, I feel blessed to have one so close and of such quality. The staff there are always super friendly and quick to help you find something you'll enjoy reading. They also have a game space in the back for those who wish to get some card or D&D play in.

It's worth the visit!
