Two words: Sunday brunch. You must visit this historical hotel and sample the fares at the regular Sunday brunch. There is a little bit of everything & all of it is very tasty. Offering everything from breakfast potatoes to roast beef, there is surely something for everyone in the group. The brunch also comes with bottomless mimosas for a little added decadence.
Two people can expect to spend approximately $50, but it is more than a fair price for the quality and the selection. The perfect occasional Sunday splurge

This old yet charming hotel is situated right in the heart of Lawrence, surrounded by an unfathomable amount of quaint shops, diners, and restaurants.

I stayed in the most 'economical' room, the Deluxe King room and it was simply fantastic, very spacious and premium, although probably not exactly worth $179 per night flat rate - but still quite nice. My room had two seperate areas of the room, a bedroom with a flatscreen TV and also a sitting room with another flatscreen TV, including the premium type bathroom.

The hotel features an excellent restaurant if you'd rather not deal with the masses of people near the outlying shops, and also includes a bar that is open on most days until midnight, but some days open until 2am aswell.

My only complaint lay with the bar, and the noise coming from the loud music. My room was situated almost directly above the bar (on the second floor) and I could hear the tacky music almost crystal clear. And no, I don't mean I could hear a faint muffled version, I could actually hear the music better than I really wish I could of.

This was almost enough for me to request a change of room, but I decided against it based on the fact I was only staying there 2 nights.

So, if you are 'lucky' enough to recieve a 2nd or 3rd floor room facing Massachussets Street (the main street of downtown where all of the shops are mostly situated) be prepared to possibly lose some sleep because of the tacky bar music being played under your feet.

It is an old building afterall, but everything is very premium. Staff very nice, building decor and overall feel is pretty great. When I call it an old building, I don't in any way contribute that in a negative way. It's more than likely one of the better hotels Lawrence has to offer.

Bed quite comfortable, would I stay again?

if I could choose for my room to be the opposite side of the bar? Absolutely!

I would Give a Negative Review if I could. We booked this room to bring my son to visit Kansas on Senior day, and unfortunately we have a medical emergency and cannot attend the 3/25 senior day. The customer service rep for cheap tickets called The Eldridge and spoke with a Front Desk person there to waive the $175.00 cancelation fee and she said NO. I am certain we all have had things come up unexpectedly, TOTALLY beyond your control, and because I woke to cancel this room at 8am instead of midnight the prior evening I will have to eat $175.00. That is POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Especially for a family whom will be visiting Kansas on a frequent basis. My son will be attending in the FALL. You could have had a FREQUENT CUSTOMER. Thanks Front DESK BUTTHOLE! 3/23/2019

Great staff, excellent rooms that are clean and the beds very comfortable. Parking is somewhat difficult, but there are free parking spots and parking costs are very cheap. Great location right downtown!

A classic downtown Lawrence Mass St venue. They outlasted wars and fires, they'll outlast a pandemic, too. Try their Platinum Old Fashioned made with Private Select Maker's Mark blend, aptly named Eldridge Phog.

Great accommodations at an affordable rate. Perfect location for downtown Lawrence and easy access to KU campus and i70. Rooms are always clean and staff is fantastic. The new bar and restaurant are fantastic as well.

I was very impressed with the Eldridge! My family and I (2 adults and 2 children) stayed in a suite with 2 queen beds and there was more than enough room for all four of us. The room was very clean, decorated nicely and very comfortable. The staff was friendly, too! It is in a great location, right on Mass Street, within walking distance of so many restaurants, shopping and fun things to do with the kids. The Eldrigde is a must!

A classic bar and dining restaurant with a menu to satisfy everyone. Food is delicious and generous. We had the Bison Burger, chicken pesto pasta and brussels sprouts which were fantastic. Good drinks and service. We always go when we visit our son at KU.

An historic and well maintained although modest size hotel. The bar and restaurant have recently been remodeled, and the food is typically excellent. Bring a Lawrence resident, I've b never stayed at the hotel, so I can't attest to the rooms or quality of service in that end.

We went to the Eldredge to celebrate a friend's dissertation defense. We only had happy hour food and it was OK. Sliders and chicken fingers didn't seem very adult to me. The service was extremely slow. It was moderately crowded but not enough to warrant the slowness.

It was pretty quiet (late Sunday evening) which was really nice. The bartender was well versed in recipes. The ribeye I got was good. The mac and cheese was what really impressed me though: it was nice and light without lacking in flavor. Service was good: prompt and helpful.

Stayed one night at the Eldridge to attend a concert across the street at Liberty Hall. Could not be happier with our choice. Clean, well-appointed room with a comfortable king bed and effective air conditioning. (We like to sleep cool!) Front desk staff and valet parking staff were both excellent - friendly, attentive and efficient. Restaurant and bar were under reno during our visit, but we are looking forward to returning when the renovations are complete. Great location for enjoying all that the downtown offers in Lawrence.

Friendly staff. Valet closed. Very loud guests on 5th floor which we witnessed causing a older man grief. Front desk staff did assist him though but rude guests remained. Overall hotel was not busy. Bar and spa on site. Parked couple blocks away in parking garage as no on site free parking. Parking garage had lot of homeless during night hours especially. Massachusetts street has a lot to offer and is immediately in front of hotel.

Very disappointed with my stay. Front desk staff at check-in was not friendly. No soap or shampoo in the room. Was given these things in a bag to take up to the room during check in. For a hotel that cost what this one does that is so unprofessional. Dining services were not offered that night, despite room service was supposed to be available. Parking is concerning, no parking onsite, no valet due to covid. Closest parking was at the public library which houses a homeless encampment at night. Did not make me feel safe about leaving my vehicle there. Ordered breakfast in the morning, it was so late I had to call to get them to bring it up and my silverware was dirty. Rooms were nice and clean, bed comfortable. If you are staying for the "Haunted" aspect that's fine, if you are looking just a nice place to stay look elsewhere. Will never stay here again.

Quantrill burned it down, but the hotel and restaurant was rebuilt and reopened in 1925, which gave Lawrence, Kansas, its symbol, the Phoenix. The hotel is early 20th century elegant, well-maintained and classy. We had the annual Thanksgiving buffet today--shrimp and salmon, as well as turkey, prime rib, and all the trimmings, as well as the traditional desserts.
