This time it was a disappointing stay, several things went wrong, getting the brush off from the reception person was disappointing.

Nothing like the Driskill all decked out for the holidays! History, grandeur, and a good strong drink at the bar. Wonder what happened to the saddle chair?
We live in the Austin area and always bring out of town guests for cocktails in the bar. Such a great setting with an old school Texas feel.its a big plus if you make it by when they have live music....great cocktails, comfy setting, what's not to love?
wonderful breakfast, brought home a gargantuan cinnamon bun.
OMGarsH, this location is very much so key to this architecture. Even in an older bldg such as this I'd take the stairs unless you have to take the 1980$-styled ride up for quick pics of the art in the hallways. A suite is a must coming here, book ahead of time for better quality service, as in turndown service, hospitality, dhese kinds of tingZ. The View! Furthermore, the quality of design. I am a fashionista too.
Love this hotel. It is near everything, charming and superbly staffed. If you appreciate historical properties over slick and modern, definitely the best hotel to stay at downtown. And the cinnamon roll is an absolute must have. Delicious!
The Driskill is one of the best hotel experiences - especially around the holidays. This centrally locatef, beautiful, and reasonably priced hotel has it all: gorgeous architecture, beautifully decorated rooms, an old world feel with every modern convenience, and an attentive and caring staff. It has a restaurant and the Driskill cinnamon rolls are like no other. These yummy things are absolutely huge! The Driskill bar deserves its very own shout out. It has a rustic but sophisticated decor and a plethora of seating options from couches to tables to bar seating. It was full of people every night so get there early if you want one of those comfy couches. If you really want to experience Austin, the Driskill should be the place you stay.
Location: Driskill is a large, beautiful hotel in a district surrounded by tons of bars, shops, and places to eat. There is ample parking and plenty to do during your stay.
Facility: The architecture and attention to detail absolutely phenomenal. Clean, spacious, a d easy to access. And the staff is very friendly.
Bar: this is a great place for a cozy happy hour cocktail...or three. LOL. The bar is full of leather couches and chairs where you can gather with co-workers or other guests and never want to leave!
Too bad I didn't see any ghosts :)
A must visit in downtown Austin, if only for a quick drink at the bar. The cast iron cowboy sculptures, dark wood paneling, and cow hide chairs make for a gentlemanly bar. Live music is a regular occurrence and the bar space is open with plenty of seating, so you never feel crowded.
Picking up on the notion is highly a blessing of The Driskle Gathering
Cool, elegant atmosphere. 1886 has incredible brunch
Old school luxurious hotel. There is maybe two or three hotels in Austin worth going to and this one them. Yes you pay for it, but worth it.
Great place, lots of character and lots of history. Convenient location that was easy to get to all the top places to be in Austin. Really enjoyed my stay here.
Beautiful building, very well kept up, friendly staff. Good drinks and atmosphere. Slightly pricey but nothing outrageous.
I was only there to pick up film badges, but it was pretty nice.
Very elegant, classical look. Drink prices for import beers were fair, though some top shelf drinks had to-be-expected top shelf pricing. Would be a good place to start a night of drinks.
If your looking for a place to stay in the trendy downtown area of Austin then this is your spot. Very classy old school hotel with a great bar and outstanding customer service. Spencer greeted us immediately and got our room taken care of. Once we were checked in then we went to the bar and really enjoyed our time. The room is grey and we had great views too. Whenever we stay in Austin this will be our place.
Just walked in to see the hotel. Beautiful old design
Came to have breakfast at 9 in the morning and was told there was a wait of over an hour. I was only 1 person and found it a little ridiculous I couldn t just sit at the min instead they had to order. I came back later to see how long the wait was and nothing changed, was still an hour.
Great hotel. Come rooms and a dope collection of painting s. Plus it's right down town was able to walk almost everywhere.
I was just having drinks at the bar, so this doesn't reflect the rooms or overnight experience at all. The perts of the hotel I saw were great. It's an "historic hotel" and definitely lives up to the name. Old school/classic/fancy is how I would describe it. They also go out of their way to remind you you're in TX with the decor, which I appreciate. All that being said, the drinks are actually not that impressive at the hotel bar. Cocktails are average at best, and the beer selection is terrible.
Beautiful room in the heart of Austin. The room was comfortable and well decorated, and the hotel itself is gorgeous. The location is really the star of the show, though. I can't count the number of times we happened to walk by the hotel in the course of the weekend, just going about wandering through the cities shops, restaurants, and (who am I kidding?) bars.
The Driskill is Old-School and an amazing spot to chill at and have a drink.
Tommy, David, Andrew, Jared and the entire bar staff are the best.
Rebecca is the best cocktail waitress in town.
Hit the bar for a drink after dinner. Mixed crowd with lively music. Fast and friendly service.
Negative 4 stars very disappointed. Gross Hair on clean towels in bathroom, shower curtain bar hanging down, rusty vent above shower, bathroom door wood peeling.
Woke up, opened curtains to see a group of people in a conferance room 10feet from my window in their connecting building
And on my last night people knocking on doors at 11pm. Trying to get you to open doors.
Rated a 4 star? Nope.
We stopped for a drink at the bar, service was fast and friendly. While there we struck up a conversation with a local couple and had a great time.
Very nice location for a change of pace from sixth Street. Good for a quiet drink in a location with an elegant ambiance.
Beautiful, historic decor, felt like you traveled to an earlier era.
Service at the bar was great, overall we had a blast!
not a grill. fancy food missing something, but do not go for meat...there is not much. lots of birthdays, but not much substance.
The staff was extraordinary pleasant and helpful at every turn. The architecture and art work is beautiful to behold. We dined at the Driskill Grill and our service was great and the food impeccable. We didn't see any ghosts during our stay
The ghost made beef jerky is amazing but the experience was slightly underwhelming after everybody built it up. It's still very pretty Hotel.
Absolutely stunning, service is top notch would come again
An old world feel with class and style in the middle of a new age city.
A place not to miss if you visit Austin. Beautiful hotel! Have a drink at the bar while listening to live music.
This place is not only historic but its also elegant and classy. They have live music and its location is strategic .If you are on 6th Street be sure to check it out
The staff were exceptionally accommodating. The decor and aromas were dark, sweet and lovely. I would highly recommend just stopping by just for a drink, if not staying there.
Upscale presentation, well maintained. Lots of property work on the same city block causes some traffic congestion.
The staff was super friendly. A+ service and hospitality
it was a great experience to discover this place and all its amazing features but u have to be careful because it really is haunted but its really cool at the same time......there is nothing to be creeped out by lol but u can go it its very fun
The entertainment was great and the wait staff was on point. Highly recommend this place.
Located in the center of everything, this hotel is awesome, without the snobby look. Staff was great, room was great and had high ceilings. Would definitely stay here again.
Had a drink and appetizers in the bar of the Driskill. Live music was good and not too loud. Seating was comfortable.
Especially good was the fried Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. Has a slight sting to it, slightly sweet and quite flavorful. Has an Asian influence it seems on the recipe.
Classic grand hotel, solid service, wonderfully classic hotel bar, great breakfast restaurant.
Legendary Haunted Hotel in the Capital of Texas with rich history [ the walls itself. You have to see it to believe it. The first telephone to ring in Texas was at the Bar at the Driskill! Go see for yourself
I had a great stay at Driskill Hotel. The only negative thing, is that they dudbt have a pool. Other than that, I really enjoyed my stay.
Classy style oldest hotel in the area with great restaurant on the 1 st floor.
The food was great and the servie was phenomenal, the Cafe had a wonderful historic setting as well as a great menu seleciton.
Have never stayed here but I have attended quite a few events at this location. I like walking the public areas and taking in the historical architecture and then downing a drink at the bar.
Went for a business breakfast. Nice place, great food, friendly staff.
Went here and sat at both 23 on a nice date with my gal. The interior of this place is just amazing. The food was great but not 100% for me. My date thought the food was absolutely wonderful. This is a must visit for anyone who hasn't been. Totally worth the visit!
Had our lunch in there over the holidays and it was wonderful great food and wonderful service love going to the Driskill
One of Austin's most historic buildings, definitely a must see.
The location makes the Driskill an ideal stay. 6th Street is right out the front door! Also, Republic Park is only a few minutes walk making the shuttles to Austin City Limits very close. The Old Fashioned is pretty good there.
Came in to take pictures. Beautiful place and staff was very accommodating.
Just visiting, not staying. Minus 1 star because there was no ghost.
One of my favorite bars. Truly classy establishment. The truffle popcorn is a go to for a happy hour.
The hotel itself is amazing. My wife and I stayed in the Yellow Rose suite on our wedding night and it was worth every penny. Make sure to try the Texas shaped waffles!
Amazing building but missing the warm service except the valet guy
Very beautiful old hotel. The staff very friendly with a exception of the bartenders. Rude & snooty, treating the patron's with a attitude of such loathing. The rest of staff were completely opposite.
We had breakfast in the grill while visiting Austin. What a beautiful and charming old hotel. They don't build them like this anymore. The food and service were excellent. We even watched the very large Christmas tree put up in the lobby. Plan to have dinner there tonight. We wished we had known about it as we would have stayed there. A real gem.
Great location! Customer service is second to none. The rooms are larger than I thought they would be.
History alive and well. Beautiful place. Nice atmosphere. Great bar and it's right in the center of it all.
Just walked through the lobby. It's beautiful and there are so many nice details if you look closely.
The workers are so welcoming and the sweets at the cafe are to die for!~
