When I opened the lobby door, the scent coming from inside was dominating, like camphor mixed with other stuff. Maybe they can change the scent? Into something light or leathery?

The valet people were nice and helpful. While we waited for our valeted car to arrive, a staff (Colt (?)) offered some water. Well, it was a blessing in 97 degrees Fahrenheit.

The room was nice, the window was full, there was a recessed section so that the curtain could go over.

The bathroom was roomy, but the lavatory was inside the bathroom. And it was standard wall hung lavatory. Almost no room to put one's facial soap and other bathing amenities.

The hotel does have a certain glamour. And if one is a history buff, I would recommend this hotel. But for me, if they would have change the scent in the lobby and mezzanine into something not as strong, I might reconsider staying here again. Emphasize on Might.

It's a decent atmosphere for meetings with lots of charm. The front desk is not as accommodating because they don't have much information concerning meetings. Also there is not ample charging ports in the lobby.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Driskill. The restoration of this historic hotel was just beautiful and our room was comfortable with nice amount of space. Plan on staying here again. Very close to 6th street night screen and good restaurants.

Austin's most venerable for good reason. In addition to great rooms, there's a huge, lavish bar complete with fireplaces and longhorn heads, and, across the hotel, the restaurant serves up a good breakfast to help nurse the hangover you earned.

Beautiful, historic and possibly haunted? It's all true...they have one of the most expensive and gorgeous restaurants/cafes in all of Austin. They are one of the landmarks that everyone recognizes. It's a place everyone who comes to Austin must check out at least once.

Very unique and historic hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly, giving recommendations of their favorite restaurants and activities in Austin. The rooms have high ceilings which made them look larger and more spacious. Great location!

Besides the history and architecture of the Driskill, it's a great place to meet friends. The bar is roomy, with lots of seating areas. The 1886 Cafe has a wonderful brunch, but be sure to make reservations! If you get a chance, take the Austin Ghost tour so you can learn even more about the Driskill!

Try this not your run-of-the-mill hotel restaurant for some fine dining. All the food is carefully prepared and is delicious. The desserts are to die for. They waiters take their time and make a proper evening of it. Go during Restaurant Week to try 3 courses for only $35.

We went on New Years Eve and were a little disappointed to discover that there was a limited menu, a tasting menu- however it was perfect! Each plate was it's own little bit of heaven, there were options on most courses, and we all ended up delightfully full. The fish, steak and pork entres were all perfectly cooked and delicious!

When you check in make sure you get a room with the character one would expect of The Driskill. My room is no better than a Le Quinta. For the money...... nope. Their other rooms with character are fantastic. At least I get to go thru the bar to get to the elevators.

My stay at the Driskill has been awful. Firstly, it s very misleading and the rooms are TINY. Definitely one of the smallest rooms we have ever stayed in; the room is not updated at all. Basic shower, again very tiny and no vanity. Valet took 30 mins to pull our car around- $45/night for valet. We were gone touring Austin for several hours, room service had not visited. For the cost (paying over $1000 for the two nights) this was laughable. This was supposed to be a bday celebration and I could not be more disappointed.

Tourists ought to visit just for the stories. Ghost tours will always mention the hotel (it's the last stop, usually). The unique smell is surely the aged spirits still enjoying themselves in this iconic Austin hotel from 1886. Be sure to visit the Emerald Room where you can often find live music and the classic bar scene.

One if my favorite hotels in Austin. My personal choice for staycations in Austin during the winter. Love the classic old school vibe. Great service. Also one if my favorite bars to grab a cocktail before dinner.

Went to 1886 cafe at the driskill. Good food. Brisket hash was really good, but was brought down a bit to me due to excessive bbq sauce. Sausage was great. Strong coffee, which is always a plus.

Beautiful setting! My friend cannot do stairs, and the staff was good about finding an internal route to the Bar that avoided stairs. Unfortunately, although the food was very good, it was not Celiac friendly. Their menu did not list that they used a frier (chips, bacon-wrapped dates), nor that some of their appetizers were fried.

An Austin Landmark! Located on sixth street downtown, it is close to everything, has a super friendly and knowledgable staff, a comfortable room with everything you need and a great restaurant. It is on the pricy side (over $200 a night) but definitely worth the experience!

We had our wedding & my mom and dads vow renewal here this past weekend (1/25/2020). I can whole heartedly say that this was the best time ever. Everything turned out amazing and everything was executed perfectly. Kristin Davis Pringle & Jordan Welch w/ 36th Street Events did an amazing job. Professional, fun and made everything stress free in the end. The Driskill was the perfect setting for so many memories for our families. Great job

At check in, I opted to pay more to be given a little better accommodations for what seemed to be a very dated establishment. What I paid for was an executive suite, but its far from what you might think of. It was extremelyyy dated with original fixtures, an original bathroom and the like...generally the furthest from what you might think of when you think upgrade. I then asked to be downgraded to a standard, more updated room, and was given a 10x10 at max with drapes for a view. This is a super expensive hotel, and the accommodations, but most importantly the service do not match the price. Richard, the front desk supervisor kept placing me on hold no matter when I called but after finally reqching him, said he was the highest supervisor working when I asked to be transferred to someone who would speak to me as if I were the customer. If his level of service was the best of the best during a peak time, I think we ve found the issue. Luxury...or even par for the course service does not live at the Driskall. Go where your money is paid in exchange for a matching product, but most importantly matching service.

This is the best place to stay when visiting Austin, great location right off 6th Street and the staff is very nice and very helpful. The bar is nice to get that first drink and meet some locals and the rooms are very well appointed with comfortable beds and usable mini bar fridge.

Cool historic hotel, rooms are in pretty bad shape. My shower had pipe insulation sitting on the floor and the shower head was not securely attached to the wall, the window leaked when it rained, and there was so much light coming in around the door that it was hard to sleep.
